Dr. Gilbert Doctorow: Russian Politics and the Ukraine War

cheney, bolton, swift — voting for warmongering to protect freedom of abortion?.....

Sept 11 (Reuters) - Pop megastar Taylor Swift drew more than 9 million "likes" to her Instagram post backing Vice President Kamala Harris for president from celebrities that included Jennifer Aniston, U.S. basketball star Caitlin Clark and Selena Gomez.

Soon after Harris, a Democrat, finished debating her Republican rival Donald Trump on Tuesday night, Swift, 34, told her 283 million followers that Harris and running mate Tim Walz would get her vote in the Nov. 5 election.

playing with fire.....

Washington and London may have already decided to let Kiev use long-range missiles for strikes deep inside Russia and are now seeding the narrative through the media, Russian Senator Aleksey Pushkov has said.

Britain has already given the green light for the use of ‘Storm Shadow’ missiles, the Guardian reported on Wednesday, citing anonymous government sources. London, however, is not expected to announce the move publicly, the sources claimed.

winning death.....

U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris won the debate. People being bombed in Gaza did not.

The banner headline across the top of The New York Times home page—“Harris Puts Trump on Defensive in Fierce Debate”—was accurate enough. But despite the good news for people understandably eager for former President Donald Trump to be defeated, the Harris debate performance was a moral and political tragedy.

news for you: humans are a peaceful species addicted to violence....

It would be unfair to describe SBS television as the Australian media outlet most addicted to violence. It would be unfair unless every other outlet were scanned for their saturation with violence. At first sight however, it would seem extraordinary should any other television channel share the SBS preoccupation.

deputies' pacific chinwag....

In recent days, Australia’s ‘”deputy Sheriff” role has been on full display again in our foreign policy. The prime minister’s extraordinary gaff at the Pacific Islands Leaders Forum, when caught out joshing along with US Deputy Secretary of State, Kurt Campbell, would have been noted not just among Pacific Island leaders, who would be entitled to feel belittled by Australia, but also across the region.

As the evidence of a slowing Australian economy mounts, Governor Michele Bullock quietly told journalists the RBA wants Australians to be poorer. Nobody seemed to notice except Michael Pascoe

war forever with "peaceful" kamala and the warmongers....

We’ve lived through nearly a quarter century of intense polarization with no clear dominant political party. Unless last night’s presidential debate changes the race as dramatically as June 27’s did, we could see an election as close as 2000’s based on the current polling.

But don’t say political realignments are impossible. Former Vice President Dick Cheney’s endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris completes a major shift within the parties, if not between them.

ignoring calls for peace and cooperation, and working towards the destruction of russia......

On Tuesday, the last US ambassador to the Soviet Union, Jack Matlock, said that the United States was engaged in an undeclared war with Russia and warned of the danger inherent in that. "It seems to me that it is extremely dangerous to attempt what is, in effect, an undeclared war against a nuclear armed power," Matlock warned.

After the fall of the Soviet Union, the United States never acknowledged Russia’s right to exist as a country or that it had legitimate national interests. NATO was focused on the Soviet Union for decades, when it collapsed, NATO turned its sights on Russia almost immediately, ignoring its calls for peace and cooperation and working towards its destruction.

a good offer that will be refused on stupid moralitee grounds.....

Last week, Vladimir Putin was speaking at the Russian-led Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok in Russia's Far East. He took part in a panel discussion with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and Chinese Vice President Han Zheng. During the panel, he also spoke about Europe’s irrational decision to decouple from Russian energy and that he’d be willing at any time to negotiate sending again gas through the one remaining Nord Stream pipeline that is still functional.

the best friend the mining and resources sector will ever have....

Peter Dutton has invoked the Tony Abbott-era campaign against the carbon tax to label Labor’s environmental and workplace laws the biggest assault on mining since Julia Gillard’s contentious emissions policy.

In a fiery speech at a minerals industry event on Wednesday morning, the opposition leader will throw his weight behind BHP and the Minerals Council of Australia, which have launched a campaign against federal moves to give more weight to environment protection and boost pay for labour-hire workers.

there's money to be made in nazi yuckraine....

The famous Jewish banking family has been deeply involved in Ukraine's affairs since the 2014 coup d'etat, despite Ukraine embracing neo-Nazi collaborators as its national heroes.

Multinational asset firm Rothschild & Co was instrumental in the restructuring of Ukraine's $20+ billion debt in July 2024, according to Western press.

It had reportedly been involved in arranging face-to-face meetings between Ukrainians and asset management firms, including Black Rock and Amundi, less than two months before the two-year payment moratorium expired on August 1.

a wish to inflict a strategic defeat on russia....

The US, UK and other backers of Ukraine told Kiev to reject the deal reached at the 2022 Istanbul peace talks with Russia, former US under secretary of state Victoria Nuland has said.

In an interview with Russian journalist Mikhail Zygar, former editor-in-chief of the liberal news channel Dozhd, which aired on Thursday, Nuland was asked to comment on reports that the peace process between Moscow and Kiev in late March and early April 2022 collapsed after then-British Prime Minister Boris Johnson traveled to Ukraine and told Vladimir Zelensky to keep fighting.
