This week, a self-described media watchdog began posting a series of behind-the-scenes clips of the fired Fox News host using salty language in back-and-forth banter with producers, makeup artists and other staff. The leaks come as rumors continue to swirl over what caused the number one-rated US cable news host to lose his job.

Fox has sent Media Matters for America a cease-and-desist letter demanding the Washington-headquartered company halt the publication of a series of leaked clips dubbed the ‘Tucker Carlson Tapes.’

The letter, sent to Media Matters’ President Angelo Carusone by an attorney on behalf of Fox Corporation, warned the footage was obtained "without Fox’s authorization," and that it is "confidential intellectual property" belonging to the network.

The United Nations has urged warring factions in Sudan to open a humanitarian corridor for aid to be transported, after reports that food supplies were looted in parts of the country.

The embattled First Republic Bank has been taken over by regulators and will be sold to JPMorgan Chase, the California Department of Financial Protection and Innovation (DFPI) announced on Monday.

Earlier this week, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), a principal federal regulator of US financial institutions, asked a number of banks to submit bids for the struggling lender in an effort to secure a buyer before it entered receivership. A deadline for bids was set for Sunday.

JPMorgan, America’s biggest bank, will “assume all deposits, including all uninsured deposits, and substantially all assets” of First Republic, according to a statement issued by the Californian regulator.
