Joe is more stupid than a one-legged dodo and dangerous like a furious catholic....

The White House has warned that its air strikes on Iran-backed targets in Iraq and Syria are just "the beginning, not the end" of its response to Iran.

National security adviser Jake Sullivan told US media on Sunday "there will be more steps".

The US is responding to the deaths of three soldiers in an enemy drone attack on a military base in Jordan last week.

Though Iran denies involvement, its affiliate the Islamic Resistance in Iraq has claimed responsibility.

The US accuses Tehran of having its "fingerprints" on the attack and said the drone was Iranian-made.

In a letter to Congress on Sunday - which under law he is required to send within 48 hours of military action - President Joe Biden said the retaliatory strikes on Friday had targeted facilities used by Iran's armed forces - the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) - and militia groups linked to the IRGC.

The IRGC is believed to have armed, funded and trained Islamic Resistance in Iraq.

Mr Biden said that include sites used for "command and control, weapons storage, training, logistics support, and other purposes".

And he added that the strikes aimed to deter these groups from further attacks, and were taken in a way "to limit the risk of escalation and avoid civilian casualties".

He also said that he would "direct additional measures, including against the IRGC and IRGC-affiliated personnel and facilities, as appropriate".

Friday's air strikes inside Iraq and Syria were followed on Saturday by joint strikes with the UK on 36 Houthi targets in Yemen.

The blasts lit up the night sky in the south of the capital city of Sana'a, with one human rights activist and local resident telling the BBC houses were shaking.

It follows continued attacks by the Houthi militants on shipping vessels in the Red Sea that have forced major shipping companies to avoid the waterway.

Egypt has said its revenue from the Suez Canal plunged by almost half in January, with the number of ships travelling through the key trade artery last month down by more than a third.

Houthi officials truck a defiant tone in response to the US-led strikes - and vowed to respond.

On Sunday the group's military spokesman, Yahya Sarea, wrote on X: "These attacks will not deter us from our moral, religious, and humanitarian stance in support of the resilient Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and will not go unanswered or unpunished."

Recently, a handful of American Catholic bishops have issued statements questioning whether anyone who supports abortion rights should be receiving Communion, and journalists immediately pounced: Will President Joe Biden, they wanted to know, be denied Communion by the U.S. bishops' conference because of his pro-choice position on abortion?

Journalists, here's your answer: This is a stupid story for canonical, theological and political reasons.

First, and foremost, the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops does not have the canonical authority to tell Biden that he cannot go to Communion.

During the papacy of John Paul II, Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, then head of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, emphasized the limited authority of bishops' conferences. Who can or cannot go to Communion in a diocese is to be decided by the local bishop, not the bishops' conference. The most the conference can do is make recommendations to local bishops.

If the bishops' conference wants the authority to decide such matters, it will need to request an exception to church law from Rome. This request requires a two-thirds vote of the conference bishops and Rome's approval for the exception. It is highly unlikely that the pope would approve such an exception. The odds are that the Vatican would not even respond to the request while Biden is in office.

As a result, as long as Biden resides in Washington, D.C., and goes to church there, it will be Cardinal Wilton Gregory who determines whether he can go to Communion. Gregory has said he will not stop Biden from going to Communion.

AS JOE WAS AGAIN FORCING THE ISSUE OF WOMEN AND ABORTION WITH THE RIGHT TO LIVE, PEOPLE HECKLED HIM ABOUT THE THOUSANDS OF WOMEN AND CHILDREN HE AND NETANYAHU KILLED IN GAZA....

Joe Biden had barely started speaking at a high-profile re-election campaign rally focusing on abortion rights in Virginia last week when the carefully choreographed made-for-TV spectacle exploded into a cacophony of angry yelling.

“Genocide Joe!”, a protester holding up a Palestinian flag cried from the back of the hall. “How many kids have you killed in Gaza? How many women have you killed in Gaza?”

Biden looked bemused, blinking silently into the cameras. In all, he was to be interrupted at least 13 more times. “This is going to go on for a while,” he said at one point. “They’ve got this planned.”

As Biden’s 2024 re-election campaign gets under way, it is becoming increasingly clear that they have indeed got it planned. A decentralized network of pro-Palestinian groups and individuals, including Muslim Americans, Jewish Americans and anti-war organizations, are hounding Biden over his firm support for Israel despite the heavy cost in civilian lives of its war against Hamas.

The US has used the nearby Al-Tanf base in Syria to train ISIS forces in the past

News Desk

FEB 3, 2024

The Iraqi army and the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMU) clashed with ISIS militants in western Anbar governorate on 3 February, an Iraqi security source told Al-Mayadeen.

The Iraqi Al-Nujaba satellite channel said that ISIS took advantage of the US bombing of targets in Iraq and Syria by launching an attack on the army and the PMU forces in the area of Kilometer 160 on the Al-Sakkar highway near the town of Rutba in Anbar.

The US has occupied the nearby Al-Tanf Base on the Syrian side of the border since 2015 and has used it to arm and train ISIS militants.

The US and allied intelligence agencies used ISIS to attack the Syrian and Iraqi armies as part of its effort to effect regime change in Damascus starting in 2011 and to depose Iraqi prime minister Nouri al-Maliki in 2014.

After ISIS conquered large swathes of Iraq and Syria, US forces turned against the group. With help from Kurdish forces, the US took control of much of the territory in Syria ISIS once controlled. In Iraq, the US partnered with Iraqi forces to retake Mosul.

Gulf-backed Syria researcher Charles Lister wrote in Foreign Policy on 24 January that ISIS is enjoying a resurgence and that 10,000 ISIS militants are detained within at least 20 makeshift prisons in US and Kurdish-controlled northeastern Syria, constituting an ISIS “army in waiting” and its “next generation.”

The comments raised fears the US may use ISIS militants to counter forces from the Islamic Resistance in Iraq (IRI), a coalition of Shia armed groups that seek to expel US forces from Syria and Iraq and end the Israeli genocide on Gaza.

The United States and Israel are Blowing Up the Mideast to Conceal Their Disastrous Defeat in Gaza

The longer this horror goes on, the worse it will get for Washington and its Israeli client state.

The United States and Israel have only one reasonable option left, and that is to end the genocide in Gaza by calling an immediate ceasefire, according to Iranian Professor Mohammad Marandi.

The longer this horror goes on, the worse it will get for Washington and its Israeli client state.

But here’s their self-defeating dilemma. The U.S. and Israel seem incapable of making that rational decision because they are desperate to conceal the utter defeat that the U.S. and Western-backed Israeli regime have already incurred in Gaza.

The mounting military losses for Israeli troops in Gaza are correlated with the increasing missile strikes on Yemen by the United States (and Britain).

This deranged dynamic is leading to a wider all-out war in the Middle East region, one where the U.S. and Iran become direct antagonists.

If the United States and Israel go down that path, and it looks increasingly inevitable, then they are facing a definitive defeat, contends Prof Marandi.

Iran and its formidable allies in Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Yemen, and elsewhere have the military capability to deliver a crushing blow.

The “Axis of Resistance” cannot be defeated militarily. Marandi points out that Israel has failed to eliminate the Palestinian Hamas militants in Gaza after more than three months of non-stop bombardment with unlimited military and political support from the United States.

The horrendous slaughter of civilians – women and children torn apart day after day – is only exposing the abysmal criminality of the Israeli state and its Western patrons. It is an irredeemable loss of political and moral credibility in the eyes of the world, including among the majority of Western citizens.

The exposure of rank hypocrisy, duplicity, and barbarous criminality is fatal for the Western powers and their Israeli client.

If the U.S. and Israel escalate to a wider war in the coming weeks they will be up against much stronger opponents who will undoubtedly destroy them. Marandi implies that the firepower seen so far from various resistance groups is only a fraction of what lies in store by the enemies of the U.S. and Israel.

In addition to military firepower, there is the catastrophic consequence of global economic ruination for the United States and its Western allies, who are already riven with political and economic crises.

An important distinction, Marandi argues, is that the U.S. is not haplessly being manipulated by Israel and its Machiavellian leader Benjamin Netanyahu.

He contends that the U.S. ultimately holds “the leash on its Israeli attack dog”. The bombing of Yemen and assassinations by the United States across the region all indicate a deliberate policy of war escalation by Washington.

There are contradictions, of course, such as the Biden administration reportedly expressing concern about the risk of a wider war with Iran if U.S. troops get killed in Iraq or Syria.

But the U.S. as an imperial power is irrational. It is trying to assert imperial power by ramping up war, even though war is leading to its historic collapse.

Nevertheless, Professor Marandi confidently asserts that Iranians are not afraid of a nuclear-armed U.S. or Israel. “In my lifetime, apartheid South Africa collapsed and nuclear weapons didn’t save it,” he notes. The same fate is awaiting Israel, he adds.

He predicts the Israeli state is facing terminal collapse from its own internal corruption and incorrigible lawlessness perpetrated over eight decades with full-on Western complicity. Israel is not a viable independent state, he points out. It would fall apart without continuous U.S. and European support.

The United States and Western powers who have tied themselves to the criminality of the Zionist regime are also doomed by the latest phase of genocide in Gaza.

The world has watched this genocide live on TV. Israel, the United States, and its Western partners are pariahs in the eyes of the world. That is the basis for their ultimate and irreparable defeat.

The edge of war, our battle for truth      By Eugene Doyle

“It was a bright cold day in April, and the clocks were striking thirteen.” George Orwell, 1984.

On the opening day of the bombing last week, I had to work hard to find out what the Iraqi government thought of the wave of attacks on Iraq by the USA. Think about that: a country undergoes dozens of airstrikes that receive massive international media coverage – our screens are filled with jets roaring off aircraft carriers, missiles bustling across the sky, flashes of explosions signalling death and destruction – and it takes a dogged bit of digging to find out what that country actually makes of the attack.

I feel we are living in Orwell’s dystopian world of constant war, not here, but somewhere off in the distance. Meanwhile, our ears, lungs and eyes are filled with the fog of perpetual propaganda. The battle for truth is being fought – and lost. Can we stir ourselves?

This past week, the mainstream media (MSM) – BBC, Guardian, New York Times, etc – were loaded with quotes from White House press secretaries, the President, generals and anglophone pundits … but was largely uninterested in the views of the nominally sovereign nation of Iraq – an ally of America, no less – which, along with Syria, was undergoing this latest round of bombing. The MSM largely conforms to the ideological orthodoxy of the American superstate – purging or diminishing to short quotes the voices that could powerfully critique the behaviour of our fading American hegemon. Orwell’s “Ignorance is Strength” comes to mind.

Our leading news sites endlessly quote people like Joe Biden and Admiral Kirby mouthing Orwellian Newspeak such as “The United States does not seek conflict in the Middle East or anywhere else in the world.” … as they announce that the US has bombed hundreds of sites in the Middle East and intends to unleash lots more violence for the foreseeable future. This blizzard of missiles in response to 3 US troopers killed in a drone strike on a US base is described as “proportionate”. Anthony Blinken’s “fire-fighting” skills are being tested, and “one false move could set the region alight”, the BBC blethers. “War is Peace” – Orwell again.

The very first story I did find that quoted at length the Iraqi government was on the Turkish news site Anadolu Agency.

“US Attack breaches sovereignty” was the headline on 3 February. The story went on to say:

“US attacks in western Iraq violate the country’s sovereignty”, the Iraqi government said Saturday. “These attacks occurred at a time when Iraq is trying to establish stability in the region. This constitutes a violation of Iraq’s sovereignty and undermines the efforts of the Iraqi government,” Prime Ministerial spokesman Gen Yahya said.

Little wonder the bulk of the Iraqi political class are trying to figure out how to rid themselves of the Americans. Iraq has been devastated for decades by wars unleashed by the UK and USA. Should their opinions be heeded?

Look into your heart: does this near-absence of the voice of the Iraqi government or Iraqi society surprise you? Does violently violating their territorial integrity offend your sense of international law? For most people in the West, I suspect not. It’s what powerful white nations have always done. “We had to destroy the village in order to save it,” an American major said in Vietnam.

New Zealand, mascot drummer boy of Western Imperialism, has sent some targeting specialists to help murder people in Yemen. So too have the ever-willing Australians. The Houthis – surely candidates for the Nobel Peace Prize – are disrupting shipping in the Middle East to pressure the Israelis and Americans to stop the genocide in Gaza. They must be found and killed, right? “We do not merely destroy our enemies, we change them.”

The US is killing people in at least four different countries in the Middle East today and threatening Armageddon on Iran. 100,000, mainly women and children have been slaughtered or maimed by the US and Israel in the past 100 days. It’s part of America’s Forever War. “If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face — for ever.” Orwell.

When they aren’t murdering civilians in foreign lands, the Americans like to preach. They like to preach A LOT. Favourite topics include: “The International Rules-Based Order” and “Territorial integrity”. This is, of course, codswallop. America has invaded more countries, murdered more women, children, old people, poor people and especially non-white people in foreign lands than any other nation – many millions more, in my lifetime alone.

Now we stand on the edge of a greater war. Major wars have a nasty habit of starting when events spiral out of control. We should politely back away from the reckless adventures of the USA. We have no strategic interest here and are trashing our own good name. Countries may soon take criminal Western nations and politicians to both the International Court of Justice and the International Criminal Court for their participation in the genocide in Palestine/Gaza. New Zealand should stand with the oppressed not the oppressors.

Not so long ago, I read another of Orwell’s books, Homage to Catalonia. Fresh from reading it, I walked to his house in Canonbury Square, London, where he had started writing Nineteen Eighty-Four. I stood outside simply to pay homage to the writer who had warned us, pleaded with us, to wake up to what was going on overseas, to break out of the deep, deep sleep we had been lulled into – before it was too late.

5 ISIS Commanders, Americans (?) Killed in Attack on US Base in Syria (Truth Bomb)

The Islamic Resistance In Iraq ignored U.S.’ warning of more strikes on Iran’s forces and proxies in the Middle East region, to attack a U.S.-led coalition base in Syria. Five fighters from the Syrian Democratic Forces [GUSNOTE: US sponsored terrorists in Syria] were killed in the overnight drone attack on the al-Omar oil field. The drone attack comes merely days after the U.S. struck Iran-linked targets in Syria and Iraq on Friday in retaliation to a drone strike on U.S. base in Jordan, that left three soldiers dead. Watch for more details.
