Two Australian mathematicians have called into question an old adage, that if given an infinite amount of time, a monkey pressing keys on a typewriter would eventually write the complete works of William Shakespeare.

Known as the "infinite monkey theorem", the thought-experiment has long been used to explain the principles of probability and randomness.

However, a new peer-reviewed study led by Sydney-based researchers Stephen Woodcock and Jay Falletta has found that the time it would take for a typing monkey to replicate Shakespeare's plays, sonnets and poems would be longer than the lifespan of our universe.

Which means that while mathematically true, the theorem is "misleading", they say.

For the past decade there’s been no bigger mainstream media mouthpiece for the Russiagate disinformation campaign than Rachel Maddow, so it should come as no surprise with just a few days left before the 2024 presidential election that the MSNBC host is back to flogging that dead horse. The staggering fine of $20 decillion Google now owes to Russian broadcasters who were banned from YouTube is “symbolic” and intended to push the company to rectify the issues it has with them, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has said.

The eye-watering sum is supposed to make the company “pay attention” to the problem and fix it, Peskov suggested on Thursday.

“This is a specifically formulated sum, I actually can’t even pronounce this figure, but it is rather filled with symbolism,” he said, explaining that Google “should not limit the actions of our broadcasters on a whim.”

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban took a break this week from annoying the EU establishment at home to annoy it abroad.

“For so many years now, the people of Georgia have been striving and fighting for democracy,” unelected European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen proclaimed in the wake of the Georgian parliamentary elections. “They have a right to know what happened this weekend.”

UN Web TV reported that the meeting centered on the “Maintenance of peace and security of Ukraine” and addressed concerns surrounding North Korea’s involvement. The event marked a sharp escalation in the already tense relations between North Korea, Russia, and the Western-aligned nations on the council.

The release of an LGBTQ-themed poppy badge has triggered a heated debate in the UK ahead of Remembrance Day.   

In the lead-up to the memorial day on November 11, which honors armed forces members who have died in combat, the Royal British Legion (RBL) has listed a poppy brooch with a pride flag attached to it as part of its annual fundraising campaign, the Poppy Appeal.  

The RBL is a charity that helps serving and former members of the UK’s armed forces. The Poppy Appeal is held every year during the remembrance period.  

The badge featuring the iconic red poppy with the multicolored flag “symbolises support for our LGBTIQ+ community who are a vital part of our Armed Forces past and present,” states the description on the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Shop website.

Australia’s Foreign Minister Penny Wong has finally acknowledged that Israel is in gross breach of international law, and must not ignore the United Nations, as it continues its ruthless military attacks on the people of Gaza, the West Bank and Lebanon.

In a statement this week rejecting the decision of the Israeli Parliament to ban the United Nations Relief and Works Agency, Minister Wong hit out at Israel’s decision to restrict the UN agency’s lifesaving work. This follows calls from Australia, Japan, South Korea, Canada, France, Germany and the UK not to impose the ban.

The 2024 BRICS summit between October 22nd and 24th will go down in human history among the most significant events after the Enlightenment; when humans arose from their self-imposed tutelage. The BRICS summit represented the world’s majority emerging from Western-imposed dictatorship disguised as guidance. It is the first summit with global representation that occurred outside the ambit of the Western minority.

Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky expressed frustration on Wednesday with the fact that classified details of his ‘victory plan’ in the conflict with Russia were leaked to the Western press.

The New York Times reported this week that Kiev had asked the US for Tomahawk cruise missiles in order to strike targets deep inside Russia. The paper’s sources described the request as “totally unfeasible.” Provision of such weapons, which have a range of up to 2,400 km, was described as being necessary to constitute part of the conventional deterrence forces requested by Zelensky.

Speaking to Western journalists in Kiev, Zelensky complained that the request for Tomahawks had become public knowledge.
