I don’t know where all that money went.......Zelensky has no idea where most of ‘$200 billion’ in US aid went Washington has provided Kiev with just over $75 billion in military and other types of assistance, Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky has claimed, adding that he has no idea where US President Donald Trump’s estimate of $200 billion originated or where it could have vanished. Trump, who has been highly critical of his predecessor Joe Biden’s generosity toward Ukraine, has argued that NATO states and the EU should “equalize”their contributions with Washington’s support. “We are in there for $200 billion more than the EU. I mean, what are we, stupid?” Trump said last month. US Vice President J.D. Vance referenced the figure as early as last July, saying, “We have now spent $200 billion. What is the goal? What are we trying to accomplish?” In an interview with AP published on Sunday, Zelensky insisted that Ukraine never received even half of that sum. “When it is said that Ukraine received $200 billion to support the army during the war – that’s not true. I don’t know where all that money went. Perhaps it’s true on paper with hundreds of different programs – I won’t argue, and we’re immensely grateful for everything. But in reality, we received about $76 billion. It’s significant aid, but it’s not $200 billion,” Zelensky said. Since 2022, the US Congress has authorized roughly $175 billion for Ukraine, but a significant portion of that funding has reportedly gone to American industries and various US government activities related to the conflict. According to Germany’s Kiel Institute, as of October 2024, the US had allocated approximately $92 billion in financial and military aid to Ukraine, while EU countries and the UK had allocated $131 billion. Zelensky also insisted that he has seen little actual cash, as more than $70 billion of the aid came in the form of direct military assistance. “There are also many other humanitarian programs I’m uninformed about, except for knowing of their existence. Perhaps the US president’s administration will audit these programs and find additional billions, but I don’t know where those funds went,” he said. Among his first actions upon returning to office, Trump suspended US foreign aid for 90 days to review its alignment with his administration’s objectives, vowing to put “America first.” The cut affected many Kiev-related initiatives, particularly those funded by grants from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). Over the weekend, USAID’s official website went offline, and its X account disappeared, amid reports that the White House was considering merging the agency into the State Department. The newly created US Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), led by Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, has reportedly sent inspectors to audit USAID’s activities. “USAID is a criminal organization. Time for it to die,” Musk wrote on Sunday. In a brief comment the same day, Trump also criticized the agency as being “run by a bunch of radical lunatics and we are getting them out.”

The Ukrainian military is enlisting men diagnosed with schizophrenia amid the struggling mobilization campaign, a recruitment office employee has told local media.
Individuals diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia and deemed permanently disabled are being sent to the army without much deliberation, the outlet Slidstvo.info reported on Friday, citing a Ukrainian recruitment office employee. The Ukrainian outlet describes itself as team of independent investigative journalists.
The employee, who identified himself as Vladimir, recalled the case of a man with schizophrenia being mobilized after passing a military medical commission. He explained that many potential conscripts who don’t have the necessary papers, or who have been put on a wanted list, undergo a medical examination in a “maximally simplified manner.” “The commission is a formality,” he claimed.
Those diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia can suffer from delusions and hallucinations and struggle with impulse control and judgment, which could lead them to shoot civilians or fellow soldiers. Schizophrenics are also more susceptible to high-stress situations, resulting in an increased likelihood of suicide in dire circumstances.
The result of a medical examination can be ready in as little as half a day and a potential recruit can be ordered to report for duty as early as the same evening, according to Vladimir. He noted that a person’s fitness for service is determined automatically by a Telegram bot, which checks existing diagnoses against a list of inadmissible illnesses.
The practice is reportedly relatively widespread. An unnamed frontline officer told the outlet that his unit had been sent not only individuals with psychiatric conditions but also those suffering from alcohol and other substance addictions.
Ukraine announced a general mobilization in February 2022 after escalation of the conflict with Russia. Last year, it significantly tightened the mobilization regulations and lowered the conscription age from 27 to 25.
However, the mobilization has been marred by widespread draft evasion and bribery, while many have attempted to flee the country, even at significant risk to their lives. To deal with the growing manpower problems, Ukrainian recruiters frequently conduct raids in public places, often resulting in violent clashes.

US weapons deliveries for Ukraine worth tens of billions of dollars were plagued by a chaotic tracking system, with officials not knowing whether certain weapons had been delivered or not, Reuters reported on Monday, citing sources.
During the final year of former President Joe Biden’s administration, key weapons shipments to Ukraine faced prolonged delays amid concerns about the depleting US stockpile and debates over whether they could trigger an escalation with Russia.
According to a Reuters investigation, another major issue was the Pentagon’s “chaotic weapons-tracking system in which even the definition of ‘delivered’ differed among US military branches.”
This “skewed” Pentagon data, making it almost impossible to accurately pinpoint the weapons in the shipping process at any given time, Reuters said, citing reports by the Government Accountability Office (GAO).
Investigations by the Pentagon’s Inspector General and the GAO also found that the administration lacked clarity on the number of weapons delivered and the extent of shipment delays, according to Reuters.
An unnamed US official told the agency that the Pentagon has since updated internal manuals to clarify the term “delivered.” However, it is not clear how broadly the reform is being implemented in reality, the article said.
Another major issue was delays, the report said, adding that it persisted even after Congress broke a months-long deadlock on $60 billion in supplemental aid for Ukraine, which was caused by Republican opposition.
As a result, by November, only about half of the total commitment the US made in 2024 for Ukraine from American stockpiles had been fulfilled, with only about 30% of promised armored vehicles arriving by early December, Reuters sources claimed.
One US official expressed frustration over the pace of deliveries, suggesting that delays prevented Ukraine from making any substantial progress on the battlefield.
The official echoed the sentiments of numerous Ukrainian officials who have often blamed inadequate Western assistance for Kiev’s failure to stem Russia’s advances in Donbass and elsewhere.
In January 2024, the US Department of Defense Office of Inspector General released a report revealing that the Pentagon was unable to fully track over $1 billion worth of weapons aid to Ukraine. At the time, it said the Pentagon failed to “fully comply” with tracking requirements, adding that it was not possible to complete an inventory of everything sent to Kiev.
Moscow has consistently condemned Western arms deliveries to Ukraine, saying they will only prolong the conflict.
