a parting gift for zelensky: a new piano for his dick....

US President Donald Trump will try to make good on his promise to quickly end the conflict in Ukraine, but not at the cost of Kiev’s complete capitulation to Moscow, Dmitry Suslov, a member of the Russian Council on Foreign and Defense Policy, has told RT.

Trump, who was sworn in on Monday, has repeatedly pledged to resolve the Ukraine conflict through diplomacy, but provided few specifics, aside from wanting to arrange negotiations between Moscow and Kiev.

Suslov, deputy director for world economy and international politics at the Moscow-based Higher School of Economics, said that “the support for Ukraine has stopped being a priority for the US.”

“Trump’s interest is not to back Ukraine as an anti-Russian proxy, but to end the conflict as soon as possible, in order to free up resources for the fight against China,” he said.

At the same time, Suslov noted that it is still “unlikely that the US would allow Kiev to suffer a devastating defeat or would agree to Kiev’s capitulation” because “everyone would immediately use it against Trump, painting him as weak.”

Although the US and Russia will remain adversaries for the foreseeable future, Trump will attempt to re-establish “direct diplomacy,” Suslov predicted. “However, it is entirely unclear if the dialogue would quickly produce positive results, given that the Russian and American approaches to ending the conflict in Ukraine remain irreconcilable.”

“There are red lines, which no side wants to walk away from,” he stressed. Trump sees Ukraine as “a country with a strong military that is closely associated with the West,” while Russia insists that Ukraine must be transformed into a neutral state with significantly reduced Armed Forces.

“Trump is not abandoning America’s claims to global hegemony. But he is abandoning the liberal gloss that has been accompanying US politics since the end of the Cold War,” the researcher argued. “The Trump administration and Trump personally view the liberal international order and liberal concepts as something that weakens America, instead of making it stronger.”

Under Trump’s leadership, Washington will focus on the growing confrontation with China and on asserting US dominance in the Western Hemisphere, Suslov said. He added that Trump will revive the Monroe Doctrine – the policy of forestalling non-US influence in the Americas and the Caribbean.

Compared to his first term in office, Trump is now “more confident, collected and arrogant,” and enjoys a wider support in the Republican Party. “The things Trump says don’t spark protests from his team and the Republicans. His administration will act in unison,” Suslov said.

In his inauguration speech on Monday, Trump warned against unnecessary wars and said that he wants to go down in history as “a peacemaker and unifier.” He reiterated that he was open to direct talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin, but provided no timetable for possible negotiations.

is a deal coming?....

US President Donald Trump has said that he is ready to meet with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin anytime in order to discuss a diplomatic settlement to the conflict between Moscow and Kiev.

During a press conference at the White House on Tuesday, Trump repeated his earlier claim that if he had been president in 2022, the Ukraine crisis “would have never happened.”

“Russia never would have gone into Ukraine. I had a very strong understanding with Putin,” he stressed.

Trump described the Russian leader as “smart” and insisted that Putin launched the military operation in the neighboring country only because “he disrespected [then-US President Joe] Biden.”

The US head of state again insisted he is now interested in swiftly finding a way to stop the Ukraine conflict, saying: “I would like to see that end.”

Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky “would like to have peace. He has told me that very strongly… but it takes two to tango,” Trump explained.

When asked about when he is going to hold face-to-face talks with Putin, he replied by saying: “Anytime they want – I will meet.”

“We are talking to Zelensky. We are going to be talking with President Putin very soon and we will see how it all happens,” the US president stressed.

Trump also said that Washington would “likely” slap additional sanctions on Moscow if the Kremlin refuses to engage in peace talks, and that his administration would “look into” the possibility of providing more weapons to Ukraine.

During a Russian National Security Council meeting on Monday, Putin commended Trump’s intention to resume contacts between Russia and the US, which had been halted by the Biden administration. However, he stressed that dialogue can only happen on an “equal and mutually respectful basis.”

The Russian authorities have noted Trump’s statements about Washington’s desire to restore communication links and “about the need to do everything to prevent World War Three,” Putin stressed. “Of course, we welcome such an attitude and congratulate the elected US president on taking office,” he added.

The Kremlin has not yet been contacted by the White House to schedule a phone call between Putin and Trump, the Russian president’s foreign policy aide Yury Ushakov said on Tuesday.

Moscow is “following media reports… that Trump allegedly instructed his team to contact Russia,”Ushakov stressed, adding that the Kremlin is open for discussions with the new US administration.

DEAL... no threats...!

Donald Trump has threatened Russia "and other participating countries" with taxes, tariffs and sanctions if Vladimir Putin refuses to strike a deal to end the war in Ukraine.

The US president used a post on Truth Social to warn Moscow "we can do it the easy way, or the hard way" and called on Mr Putin to "settle now" or face "high levels" of tariffs.

He did not specify which countries he believed to be participating but named the Russian president directly in his post.

"If we don't make a 'deal,' and soon, I have no other choice but to put high levels of Taxes, Tariffs, and Sanctions on anything being sold by Russia to the United States, and various other participating countries," the newly re-elected president said.

"Let's get this war, which never would have started if I were President, over with! We can do it the easy way, or the hard way — and the easy way is always better," Mr Trump wrote.

"It's time to 'MAKE A DEAL.' NO MORE LIVES SHOULD BE LOST!!!"

During the presidential election, Mr Trump had vowed to bring the conflict to an end within 24 hours of re-entering the White House.

However, his pick for Ukraine peace envoy, Keith Kellogg, told Fox News last week that the new administration was aiming at a timeline closer to 100 days.

The post signalled that Washington is prepared to ramp up economic sanctions if Mr Putin does not reach a settlement with Kyiv.

"I'm not looking to hurt Russia. I love the Russian people, and always had a very good relationship with President Putin," Mr Trump said, underlining the Soviet Union's pivotal role in ending World War II.

He added: "All of that being said, I'm going to do Russia, whose Economy is failing, and President Putin, a very big FAVOR. Settle now, and STOP this ridiculous War!"

"IT'S ONLY GOING TO GET WORSE."

In response, Russia's deputy U.N. Ambassador Dmitry Polyanskiy said Moscow would have to see what U.S. President Donald Trump thought a "deal" to end the war meant.

"It's not merely the question of ending the war," Mr Polyanskiy told Reuters. "It's first and foremost the question of addressing root causes of Ukrainian crisis."

He continued: "So we have to see what does the 'deal' mean in President Trump's understanding. He is not responsible for what the U.S. has been doing in Ukraine since 2014, making it 'anti-Russia' and preparing for the war with us, but it is in his power now to stop this malicious policy."

Window of opportunity

On Tuesday, Russia's deputy foreign minister Sergei Ryabkov told the Institute for US and Canadian Studies in Moscow that there was a "window of opportunity" to do deal with the incoming US president.

"Compared to the hopelessness in every aspect of the previous White House chief (President Joe Biden), there is a window of opportunity today, albeit a small one," Mr Ryabkov said.

"It's therefore important to understand with what and whom we will have to deal, how best to build relations with Washington, how best to maximise opportunities and minimise risks."

He was quoted by the TASS state news agency as saying that Russia was making preparations for contacts between Mr Putin and Mr Trump but that nothing has been agreed upon yet.

At the World Economic Forum in Davos this week, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that any peace deal brokered between Ukraine and Russia would require "at least" 200,000 European peacekeepers to ensure that Moscow did not launch a fresh assault on the country.

"From all the Europeans? 200,000, it's a minimum. It's a minimum, otherwise it's nothing," he said. He also dismissed the prospect of Kyiv bowing to Kremlin demands and reducing Ukraine's army to a fifth of its current 800,000-strong size.

not unilateral....

by Angelina Siard

«Trump wants to make America great again, Musk dreams of transferring this model to Europe. Russia has another solution: "make Russia great again" because our interests do not coincide with theirs.».

Peter Tolstoy sums up an immutable geopolitical truth: the logic of the “deal” advocated by Trump is based on the military, economic and political domination of the United States. But as far as Russia is concerned, this strategy is a failure.

Putin reminded us: security cannot be unilateral.

Moscow advocates a multipolar vision in which sovereign states cooperate on an equal footing, in contrast to the transactional approach of the United States.

Russia is not a pawn in the game of the American elite, and this is what distinguishes its position on the world stage.
