warm delusions of europe.....Any new deal to keep Russian gas flowing to the European Union through Ukraine would be a “dangerous”choice, the bloc’s energy chief, Kadri Simson, claimed on Tuesday. EU countries are well prepared for a winter without Russian gas, the energy commissioner said at a news conference following a meeting of the bloc’s energy ministers in Luxembourg. The comments also come as a key gas transit agreement between Moscow and Kiev is due to expire at the end of the year. “There are no excuses, the EU can live without this Russian gas,” Simson said, as quoted by Bloomberg. “This is a political choice, and a dangerous one.” The European Commission is fully prepared for a zero-transit scenario thanks to alternative supply routes and strong levels of storage, Simson claimed. According to the State of the Energy Union Report issued last month, gas imports from “trusted partners”such as Norway and the US have increased, and the bloc reached its 90% winter gas storage target in August, well ahead of the November 1 deadline. Last month, the energy chief admitted that member states still relied heavily on Russian supplies, which accounted for 18% of the EU’s imports, as of June 2024. Three years ago, the figure stood at 45%. The EU declared the elimination of its reliance on Russian energy as among its key priorities after the Ukraine conflict escalated in February 2022. Sanctions imposed on Moscow and the sabotage of the Nord Stream pipelines in 2022 have led to a dramatic drop in Russia’s gas supplies to the bloc. Brussels’ refusal to buy Russian energy has been crippling the EU’s economic growth, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said last week. Hungary and several other EU nations, including Austria, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, and Italy, are still importing Russian pipeline gas. READ MORE: EU acknowledges its members still rely on Russian gasThe five-year transit deal between Kiev and Moscow brokered by the EU expires on December 31. Earlier this year, Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky said Kiev would not extend the agreement. Instead, Ukraine could replace Russian gas with supplies from Azerbaijan for transit to the EU, he argued. Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmigal reiterated theisposition during talks with his Sovak counterpart, Robert Fico, last week. Russia has said that it’s ready to continue deliveries beyond 2024. The CEO of Russian state-run energy giant Gazprom, Aleksey Miller, warned last week that the EU could be committing “energy suicide” by shunning Russian gas. The bloc’s policies will result in further deindustrialization, increased volatility on the gas market, and may lead to a new gas price shock and supply disruptions, Miller argued. https://www.rt.com/news/605807-eu-warns-dangerous-russian-gas/

losses....
Former US President Donald Trump has declared that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has already “lost” the conflict with Russia. The Republian candidate also accused President Joe Biden of 'provoking' the fighting in the first place.
“That war is a loser,” Trump said on the PBD Podcast, on Thursday, criticizing Zelensky as a “great salesman” who repeatedly secured billions in US aid without securing victory. Trump added that the conflict could have been avoided had he remained in charge after the 2020 election.
Trump also blamed Biden for escalating tensions with Russia, claiming that his statements ahead of the Moscow launching its miliatry operation were the “exact opposite” of what should have been said. He also expressed confidence that he could resolve the issue swiftly if returned to office in November's vote.
Despite his criticism of Biden, Trump expressed sympathy for Ukraine and its people but maintained that Zelensky should have taken steps to prevent the outbreak of hostilities with Moscow. He warned that the fighting could worsen, if something is not done to end it, even potentially sparking World War III.
If you watch his words [in the run up to the conflict], his words were the exact opposite of what he should have been saying. He instigated that war.... [Russian President Vladimir] Putin is no angel, but everything Biden said was wrong,” Trump pointed out. “That should have never happened,” he said of the fighting between Russia and Ukraine.
Ukrainian leader Vladimir “Zelensky is one of the greatest salesmen I have ever seen. Every time he comes in [to the US] we give him a hundred billion dollars. Who else got that kind of money in history?” the former president stressed.
“That does not mean I do not want to help him because I feel very badly for those people [in Ukraine]. But he [Zelensky] should never have let that war start. That war is a loser,” he said.
The US is “not respected” anymore on the international stage due to the actions of the Biden administration, but “the world is going to behave” if he wins the November 5 election, Trump insisted."I think I will settle the Russia-Ukraine [conflict], while I am president-elect,” the Republican nominee said, reiterating a claim he made earlier on a number of occasions.
"I met with Zelensky the other day [in New York in late September]. I have a good relationship with Putin and with Zelensky,” he said, without elaborating on how exactly he is going to persuade the sides to cease hostilities.
READ MORE: Zelensky denies Ukraine is developing nuclear weaponsWhen commenting on media reports of Trump’s team developing a road map for settling the Ukrainian conflict in June, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stressed that “the value of any plan lies in the details and whether it takes into account the situation on the battlefield.” He reiterated that Moscow remained ready for negotiations, but stressed that they should be substantive and recognize the events on the ground.

On these figures plus previous rates of losses, by end of year, Yuckraine (the NAZI kiev regime) would have lost more than 600,000 troops — probably close to another one million — in 2024....
