that sinking feeling: morally and historically wrong…...

Is Albo auditioning for membership of NATO? His Labor government may be more competent than the Coalition on foreign affairs but little has changed on government secrecy, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese even stepping up weapons traffic to Ukraine while keeping mum on coal.

“Today we are announcing an additional $100 million in military-technical assistance. In total, we have already provided $390 million,” Albanese said this week on his tour to meet President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi. “We are also additionally providing 14 armoured personnel carriers and 20 “Bushmaster” – armoured vehicles. Thus, the total number of “Bushmasters” was 60″.

While Australia’s new leadership has proven true to the new AUKUS alliance struck by his predecessor Scott Morrison, and now even to the cause of NATO, the commitment of government to secrecy has not changed. A number of approaches by MWM to find out the status of the pledged delivery of coal to Ukraine have fallen on deaf ears. It has been more than 3 months now since the shipment was announced and still no word as to whether the coal arrived, or was even dispatched in the first place.

Ukraine isn't clean as as whistle…….

A new UN report has found that Ukraine's armed forces bear a large share of the blame for an attack on a nursing home that left vulnerable residents trapped in the firing line.

Key points:
  • The report found Ukrainian soldiers took up positions in the home, which effectively made it a target
  • Management repeatedly requested for the residents to be evacuated, the report says
  • The governor of the eastern Luhansk region says Russian forces are continuing to press towards the border with the Donetsk region

Two weeks after Russia invaded Ukraine in February, Russian forces attacked a nursing home in Stara Krasnyanka, about 580 kilometres south-east of Kyiv.

Dozens of elderly and disabled patients, many of them bedridden, were trapped inside without water or electricity.

The March 11 attack set off a fire that spread throughout the facility, suffocating people who couldn't move.

Ukrainian authorities blamed the attack on Russian forces, accusing them of killing more than 50 vulnerable civilians in a brutal and unprovoked assault.

But the UN report found that a few days before the attack, Ukrainian soldiers took up positions inside the nursing home, effectively making the building a target.
