Hockey blathered about Australia's growing "sovereign risk" under Labor. He and the Coalition should be embarrassed that, in the very week they are trying to run this fearmongering nonsense, international investors actually confirmed that Australia is not a sovereign risk but a sovereign safe haven.
The interest rate that investors demand on Australian Treasury bonds this week fell to the lowest in history as investors, fleeing the real sovereign risk of Spain and Italy, put tens of billions of dollars into German, Japanese, British, US and Australian government bonds for safekeeping.
Abbott's fear of falling prey to stunts suggests that a man who lives by the stunt is worried he might die by a stunt. If his leadership were better founded on good policy, he might not be so fearful of something as shallow as a stunt.

tony detritus...
Her Scheiße-Rührwerke (let's be rude) - the shit-stirrers (let's be polite).
In the Asterix album, "the Discord," a nasty little character, Tullius Detritus, likes to drive a wedge between friends and people by telling crap — using cryptic "innocuous" innuendoes to cause the worst of arguments. He is an expert at twisting the truth...
He has been sent by JC to conquer the last little Gallic village (Asterix's*) resisting the authority of Caesar.
Detritus plays on people's inner ability to hatred, to resentment, to vindictiveness, to anger, and thus expose the stupidity of the inhabitants of the village who are foolish enough, like everyone else, to believe Detritus innuendoes — thus being frothed up by the scandals (that are invented), wickedness, insults, jealousy, betrayal, slander....
Translation by gusgoogle: Tony Abbott appears to me as the reincarnation of TULLIUS DETRITUS! (Tony garbage)...

abbott detritus...
TONY ABBOTT'S personal standing has fallen sharply but he remains on track to become prime minister, with only one in four voters prepared to choose Labor at the ballot box, the latest Herald/Nielsen poll finds.
After a tumultuous month, Mr Abbott is almost as unpopular as Julia Gillard, while Labor's primary vote has fallen to 26 per cent, a depth the government last plumbed in July and the lowest level in the poll's 40-year history.
The poll finds Ms Gillard and Mr Abbott about half as popular as those touted as their most likely internal rivals.

The Liberals (conservatives) have chosen a clever idiot — a Rhodes scholar, ignoramus economicus extraordinarius with a degree — as a front man in order to first and foremost destroy Labor... Tony detritus is their wedge-man... Helped by an all too willing media (I have mentioned before — most journalists hate Julia because... it's the present fashion trend in that "industry" and it's uncouth for a journo to show some recognition of Julia's achievements, and most journos don't like her voice and her dress sense), Tony Detritus' role — the embarrassment of negativity beyond negativity — is working like a charm.
Of course populace's polls reflect what the scribes write, including the demonisation of important policies such as the NBN and the carbon tax — or even the home insulation program that let's be honest "saved Australia's bacon" when the rest of the world was tanking... (and still tanking). Journalists are too eager not to talk to real scientists since most journos don't understand scientific terms and have no idea about real sciences, beyond the eternal joke relating the bump from Newton's apple.
We know that most of the media in this country is run and fronted by shock-jocks who spit at 500 words a minute as much negativity and untruth about Labor said policies as possible... Sure, I am the first to recognise that not everything is perfect in the labor camp, but the stench of Grench has long been buried by the media to revive a Turnbull as a savior of all things... And the media LOVES to stir Labor with the Rudd ladle. Meanwhile the long dead, buried, incinerated, wormed, killed off Work Choices policy is being slowly resuscitated with impunity in the Liberal (conservative) camp...
Whether one likes Julia or not, she has been mostly effective as judged by the results. Serene and smiling, she rarely indulges in the nasty negative fights that Abbott is so eager for. But the media does as much as it can to tar her with the same brush — and often blames her for Tony Detritus' behaviour... That's the clever part of being a Tullius Detritus: One can get tainted with a bit of "negativity" from one's actions but most of one's said words and actions end up making Snow White look like shit... Brilliant! On some issues, Labor might at times not be too well co-ordinated but in the long term, unlike most men who try to place round pegs into square holes with a zillion pound hammer, Julia lets things find their place and things move on, even with all the hooha as stirred by the dung beetles of the media...
Of course there are things like the Craig Thomson affair... But really, this is a non issue. So far Thomson has not been proven guilty and most of his accusers are also very very suspect...
Tony Detritus can sniff the moment when the fence of that little Gaulish village crumble — but hopefully, like in the Asterix comics — Tony Detritus' plan is exposed under the sun and he is chased out by the villagers whose foibles and discord are soon forgotten...
Let's kick Abbott in the budgies... Let's kick him out of our life. Let's place a proper perspective on reality and achievements. Let's stop this constant negative navel-gazing — all brought in very cleverly by a little shit-stirrer called Detritus...
led by tony — the master whinger....
Australians, though, have nothing but concentrated misery ahead of them: if the economy is good, it will only get worse; if the economy is not good, it's sure to become terrible; if the sun shines, we'll all get melanomas; and so on.
The national talent for highlighting the silver cloud's dark lining is on display in the fevered calls for the Reserve Bank to cut its cash rate by 50 points tomorrow. Apparently Australia is in dire straits and urgently needs greater monetary stimulus. Unemployment is skyrocketing, our key trading partners are down the gurgler, there's no investment to speak of, the record low yield on 10-year commonwealth bonds is a forecast of Armageddon and the government and opposition are both run by politicians. Well, one out of five isn't a bad score.

Of course this isn't the picture of where we're at... But this erroneous perception is the one that Tony Abbott is peddling day after day after after day... The media laps it... The Aussie sky has been falling since Labor took over from John Howard crappy years... The media loved John Howard, despite having done nothing innovative apart from the never ever GST (invented by the World Bank and first inflicted a long time ago on the Danes) and concocted a smart way to make your job harder, more insecure for less pay... Smart...
The rest of John Howard's years kept him busily lying lying and lying about anything, including health and wars.... Tony Detritus Abbott, of course, is the natural heir to John Howard's crown... Tony is a natural bullshitter... The media loves him despite Abbott tanking slightly lower than Julia at the polls as to whom is the preferred honcho... But the media is no fool, it supports the Libs so eventually the media gets the whinger himself — Tony negativity to the power of square — as the idiot driver of this country.
The media hates the NBN because Mr Merde-och says so... The media hates Labor's carbon tax because Mr Merde-och says so... Tony hates nearly everything which makes life easy for the scribes... It's hard to know how Tony does not hate himself as well, but this champion whinger has influenced the populace into believing they should be whingers too... Yes, Tony's job is done, magnificently cunning in the shit-stirring game.... Brilliant.
Let me put my dark glasses on... See toon at top...
abbott's garbage...
The Federal Government has accused Opposition Leader Tony Abbott of "crab-walking" away from his carbon tax claims.
Mr Abbott has been campaigning strongly against the carbon price, warning it will kill and destroy some industries, and cause "every single price" in the economy to rise.
But with less than a month before the tax takes effect, Mr Abbott says the full effects will not be felt on day one and he used a snake metaphor to illustrate his point.
"It's going to be a python squeeze rather than a cobra strike," he said.
"But it is going to hurt from day one and as time goes by it's just going to get worse and worse and worse and the only way to fix it is to change the government."
The Government has seized on Mr Abbott's comments, arguing they are a sign that not even the Opposition Leader believes his own rhetoric on the carbon tax.

from a former lazy cook who quit when the kitchen was too hot...
ABOVE the chamber of the House of Representatives in Canberra, there is a special part of the gallery set aside for visiting schoolchildren. As part of their school excursions they can watch question time - the highlight of the day in the nation's premier political debating forum. Over the 20 years I participated in question time, I often looked at those children and wondered what they made of the spectacle below them.
Sometimes when I met them afterwards I would ask them what they had learnt from the experience. It was rare to get a positive response. Their elected representatives were in fact much better than they seemed, I would reassure them. I did not want those schoolchildren to think that this was the highest standard of debate of which the nation was capable.
If the standards are slipping in Parliament it is not the fault of the opposition.
It has always been thus. But in some respects the Parliament is at a lower ebb than in previous times. There used to be genuine humour. There were occasions when our political opponents were genuinely funny - so funny that they made you laugh at yourself. Despite my efforts to suppress it, Paul Keating did this to me on several occasions. There were people who could respond with wit to an interjection. In those days there were MPs that could crack a joke that had not been written by a staffer!Read more: http://www.smh.com.au/opinion/politics/standard-of-debate-nothing-to-laugh-about-20120911-25qet.html#ixzz26EXn6yQx

carbon tax boredom...
The consumer watchdog says price rises blamed on the carbon tax have sparked fewer complaints than it feared, so much so as to brand it ''an increasingly boring topic these days''.
Australian Competition and Consumer Commission chairman Rod Sims told a conference of the Australian Food and Grocery Council in Canberra this morning that his organisation had found the first 100 days of the carbon price ''fairly quiet''.
''I think the number of complaints we've had and the activity we've had to undertake is probably quite at the low end of what either we expected or we feared.''
But the watchdog has swooped on some misleading claims by businesses who falsely attribute price rises to the scheme. These have included a Queensland regional doctors' practice that raised its charge for sending a fax and a NSW flying school that hiked its tuition fees - both because of the carbon price.
In his third update on action taken by the watchdog against misleading claims around price rises related to the carbon price, Mr Sims said his organisation had received about 2500 complaints in the first 100 days of the carbon price.
This was just 6 per cent of the total 43,000 complaints received by the watchdog over that period.
In total, the ACCC has carried out 15 in depth investigations and started 50 initial investigations.

Tony Abbott did his song and dance like an idiotic fly caught in a jar... When, with electricity bill in hand, Tony went on the rampage to annoy us some more with the carbon tax armaggedon, he was to be told that what he was saying about the bill was simply crap...
He could not add 2 and two without making a mistake, could he?...
no 'fetid" evil...
IT’S hard to separate the royal commission into child sexual abuse from politics and anti-Catholic agendas, in the fetid atmosphere that currently exists in Canberra.
The prime minister at least appears genuine in her decision to set up the inquiry, after serious allegations of paedophilia and cover-ups in the Catholic Church in NSW and Victoria.
She has broadened the inquiry, as she should, to include other institutions where children may have been abused, both religious and state-run, as well as the police, giving it much the same remit as the 1995 Wood Royal Commission into the NSW police service.
The Wood inquiry was a horrendous eye-opener.
In the associated successful trials of predatory paedophiles Dolly Dunn, a teacher at a Catholic school, and businessman Phillip Bell, prosecutor Margaret Cunneen insisted the worst details be made public. A video of Dunn sitting on the edge of a bed, undressing a little boy of about eight, is seared into my memory.

Beautiful prose and sentiments from Miranda. I just wish she would not mention the "fetid" atmosphere in Canberra, in which her beloved Tony Detritus plays the greatest smelly part... Yes the Prime Minister is genuine in setting this royal commission. It's not as easy as it looks because every trick in the book from the offenders will be used to hide behind the robes of Cardinal Pell and other prelates...
And no. Julia Gillard, despite being an atheist, does not have an anti-catholic agenda. She has an anti-Tony agenda for sure but this has nothing to do exclusively with his catholicism. Why do you think our Prime Minister would help finance chaplains in schools for example and recently add more moneys to this silly programme?... Gus, to the contrary, is anti-religion, not so much for what they are or do — many do a lot of good and charitable enterprises, apart from wars — but for the retardation of proper understanding of the universe we live in. The attempt at mixing religion and science is unfortunate, illiterate and unacceptable.
Most religions treat humans as born psychopath... According to their religious dictum, the minute we inhale the first breath of air we are tainted with an "original sin" or whatever that makes us unworthy of being who we are.... We have committed a crime (for being born at all) and we shall do our slammer-time in this half-way hell until we die. Our parole officer (angel/soul/drunken beast) shall decree whether we are worthy of going to god's banquet or not, according to our behaviour and unwavering beliefs... So, many people cling on to idiotic concepts in regard say to denounce evolution or global warming... 99.99999 per cent of species on earth have nothing to do with human beliefs. Whether we're here or not makes no difference to them — apart from humans' hell-bent attitude designed to wipe them out, accidentally or deliberately.
The crime of hiding pedophiles behind the veil of religious secrecy is as monstrous as the act itself... Priest who have not reported the crime, should also be charged for being accessory to a crime, after the fact. And I would not be surprised if George Pell himself heard confessions of this kind that would make our hair stand up.
But here we might have to be circumspect... Immunity from prosecution may be necessary for those who heard about other's bad deed, in order to go to the core of the problem. This is a hard call.
Pell did not get a Vatican job because of a "tainted" history in regard to having helped manage knowledge of priests engaged in pedophilia stay within the walls of the church, in Victoria. Whether the allegations are true or not, it did affect his promotion. He is asking for proof of meetings, etc...
In the end there is no evil, just bad behaviour and it's defined as criminal behaviour when behaviour affect other people beyond "acceptable" boundaries. Churches tend to turn crimes into sins for convenience of retaining numbers in their dwindling troops, using absolution (or for money when selling "indulgences"). In the mosques, the culprits would be stoned to death, unless the crime of pedophilia is deemed as god's will as was in the case of Mohammed, who married a nine year old girl, promised to him since she had been seven. For a 54 year old man having sex with a nine year old is pedophilia. Like most abused victims she developed a strong bond with the perpetuator — having known nothing else but a single trick.
It's going to be a painful royal commission. Hopefully, the right result will prevail. Culprits will be "punished" and victims will feel vindicated. The wrongs unfortunately never get wiped from memory, though they can be minimised by the desire to live for the better.
