Who Am I?

Since 1968 America has a beauty pageant competition, becoming widely recognized in the whole country, for African American women to show their beauty, talent and values to the world. It is called Miss Black America. It has been started in August 1968 as a local pageant in Philadelphia, as a protest against leaving the African American women out of the Miss America competition, and has grown ever since. The modern day Miss Black USA has been re-branded in 2009, kicking off in Washington. The pageant offers African American women the opportunity to show their talent, intellect and, of course, their beauty, also giving them a chance to win scholarships.
