the little club for drinking the western kool-aid.....

From April 9 to 12, 2026, 128 of the world’s most influential figures gathered at the Salamander Washington DC Hotel, on the Southwest waterfront a short walk from the National Mall, for what has become the most scrutinized private conference on the planet. The 72nd Bilderberg Meeting continued its tradition of bringing together political leaders, business executives, military commanders, intelligence chiefs, academics, and media figures for off-the-record discussions on pressing global issues—this time in the seat of American power itself.

Why does this matter? The 2026 gathering occurred at a moment of extraordinary transatlantic rupture. President Donald Trump had threatened to withdraw the United States from NATO after European allies declined to join the US-Israeli war against Iran, which had erupted in late February. The Strait of Hormuz had been closed, energy markets were convulsing, and the very alliance Bilderberg was founded to protect appeared to be fracturing in real time. The decision to convene in Washington in early spring—rather than at the usual European resort in summer—signaled a conference scrambling to keep pace with events. Understanding where elite consensus forms—or fractures—provides crucial context for interpreting world events.

In this comprehensive analysis, you’ll learn:
  • The verified facts about the 2026 Washington meeting, based solely on official sources and mainstream reporting
  • The historical context of seven decades of Bilderberg gatherings and the conference’s thirteenth visit to the United States
  • Who attended and what their participation reveals about the current power network
  • The 14 topics on the official agenda and their global significance
  • An evidence-based assessment separating documented facts from speculation
The Historical Context: 72 Years of Transatlantic DialogueOrigins in Post-War Europe

The Bilderberg Meetings originated in 1954 at the Hotel de Bilderberg in Oosterbeek, Netherlands. Polish political adviser Józef Retinger and Dutch Prince Bernhard initiated the conference with a clear Cold War objective: strengthening transatlantic relations and addressing anti-American sentiment in Western Europe.

Early participants included figures who would shape decades of policy, establishing a tradition of informal diplomacy. The conference adopted the Chatham House Rule, allowing participants to use information received but not attribute statements to specific speakers—a practice that continues today. In its seven-decade history, the meeting has been cancelled only twice: in 1976, amid the Lockheed bribery scandal that engulfed Prince Bernhard, and in 2020 and 2021, owing to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Washington’s Place in Bilderberg History

The 2026 edition marked the thirteenth Bilderberg Meeting held on American soil since 1957, and the second hosted in Washington, D.C. The United States has typically welcomed the conference roughly once every four years, most often at the Westfields Marriott in Chantilly, Virginia, which hosted the gatherings of 2002, 2008, 2012, and 2017. The Salamander itself is no stranger to Bilderberg: under its former name, the Mandarin Oriental, the same building hosted the 2022 meeting before being sold and rebranded later that year.

The 2026 return to the American capital carried unmistakable symbolic weight. Convening in Washington—rather than a discreet European spa town—placed the conference at the doorstep of an administration openly hostile to the multilateral order Bilderberg has long championed. It also coincided with the year the United States marked the 250th anniversary of its independence, lending the choice of venue an additional layer of resonance.

Evolution Across Decades

The 1950s-1960s meetings focused heavily on European integration and NATO cooperation. By the 1970s, discussions expanded to energy crises and Middle Eastern politics. Post-Cold War adaptations saw the group addressing globalization and, after 2001, terrorism. More recently, topics have encompassed financial crises, cyber security, climate change, and—from 2023 onward—artificial intelligence.

The Washington meeting demonstrated an unmistakable pivot toward hard military power, deterrence, and dual-use technology—a turn that had been building for several years but reached its fullest expression in 2026. This historical continuity provides essential context for understanding how the steering committee shapes the conference and maintains its relevance across generations.

The 2026 Washington Meeting: Official FactsBasic Details

According to the official Bilderberg website, the 72nd meeting convened 128 participants from 23 countries, with about two-thirds from Europe and the remainder from North America. Roughly a quarter of those invited came from politics and government; the rest from industry, finance, academia, and the media. The conference maintained its traditional closed-door format, with no media access and a heavy security perimeter sealing off the Salamander hotel for the duration of the meeting.

One striking departure from precedent was the timing. Bilderberg almost always convenes in late May or June; the 2026 meeting opened on April 9, roughly six weeks ahead of schedule. Observers widely read the acceleration as a response to the velocity of world events—an active war in the Middle East and an alliance crisis that the conference’s organizers evidently judged could not wait for summer.

The 14 Official Agenda Topics

The published agenda, listed alphabetically as is customary, addressed the most consequential challenges of the moment with notable directness:

  1. AI – The trajectory of frontier artificial intelligence and its strategic implications
  2. Arctic Security – Great-power competition in the High North and the Greenland question
  3. China – Beijing’s posture, technology rivalry, and economic statecraft
  4. Digital Finance – Cryptocurrency, stablecoins, and the future of money
  5. Energy Diversification – Securing supply amid Middle East disruption
  6. Europe – Competitiveness, defense capacity, and political fragmentation
  7. Global Trade – Tariffs, decoupling, and a fracturing system
  8. The Middle East – The war with Iran and regional escalation
  9. Russia – The war in Ukraine and the broader confrontation with Moscow
  10. Trans-Atlantic Defence-Industrial Relationship – Weapons production, procurement, and burden-sharing
  11. Ukraine – The state of the war and the path to reconstruction
  12. USA – American politics under the second Trump administration
  13. Future of Warfare – Drones, autonomy, and the AI-enabled battlefield
  14. The West – The cohesion and future of the Western alliance system
Why These Topics Matter

The 2026 agenda represented the most defense- and security-tilted list in recent memory. Where the 2025 Stockholm meeting had balanced hard security with softer-sounding categories like “Depopulation and Migration,” Stockholm’s successor in Washington stripped away the euphemism. “Future of Warfare,” the “Trans-Atlantic Defence-Industrial Relationship,” “Arctic Security,” and standalone entries for “Russia,” “China,” and “The West” together signaled that the question of Western military power had displaced almost everything else.

The “Trans-Atlantic Defence-Industrial Relationship” topic reflected the most pressing question facing the participants: whether the Atlantic alliance—Bilderberg’s founding purpose—could survive a US administration openly contemplating withdrawal from NATO. The presence of NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte, his predecessor Jens Stoltenberg, the US Secretary of the Army, and senior commanders suggested substantive, and likely difficult, discussions about whether and how the alliance could endure.

“Arctic Security” was a new entry, and a pointed one. With the Trump administration having repeatedly voiced ambitions regarding Greenland, the topic’s inclusion—reinforced by the first-ever attendance of a Greenlandic representative—drew immediate attention from observers. “Digital Finance,” another newcomer, reflected the surging policy importance of cryptocurrency and stablecoins, underscored by the presence of a senior Coinbase policy executive.

The dropping of 2025’s controversial “Depopulation and Migration” line—which had generated intense conspiracy commentary—alongside the disappearance of “Proliferation” and “US Economy,” completed the picture of an agenda re-engineered around war, alliances, and the technologies that will define both.

Who Attended: The 2026 Participant ListPolitical Leadership

The official participant list included sitting heads of state, royalty, government leaders, ministers, and senior officials...

......

The 2026 participant composition revealed three distinct shifts. First, the dense presence of senior military commanders and intelligence chiefs—including the US Secretary of the Army, the commander of US Indo-Pacific Command, NATO’s sitting and former secretaries-general, and the chief of MI6—confirmed that hard security and the defense-industrial base had become the conference’s center of gravity.

Second, the convergence of artificial intelligence and warfare was on full display. The leadership of DeepMind, Anthropic, Mistral, Thinking Machines Lab, and Meta AI sat alongside the founders of defense-technology firms Palantir, Anduril, and Helsing—and, in one of the most telling inclusions, the head of a Ukrainian company that manufactures long-range strike drones and cruise missiles. The fusion of venture capital, frontier AI, and weapons procurement could hardly have been more concentrated.

Third, the guest list tracked the year’s defining disputes with unusual precision: a first-ever representative from Greenland amid US territorial ambitions in the Arctic, Ukrainian defense and reconstruction figures, and a European political contingent weighted toward frontline and Nordic states. This network effect—bringing together people who rarely interact in public forums—constitutes Bilderberg’s primary function, regardless of what conspiracy theories claim about the meetings.

Analysis: What We Can and Cannot ConcludeWhat We Know With Certainty

Based on official sources and verified reporting:

  • The meeting occurred on the stated dates at the Salamander Washington DC Hotel with the published participant list
  • The 14 agenda topics reflect current priorities among Western political, military, and corporate elites
  • No formal decisions, resolutions, or policy statements were produced
  • The Chatham House Rule was maintained, preventing attribution of specific comments
  • NATO publicly confirmed on its own website that Secretary-General Mark Rutte attended the meeting from April 10 to 12, immediately after talks at the White House—an unusually candid acknowledgment of Bilderberg participation
Probable Indirect Influences

While causation cannot be proven, circumstantial patterns suggest informal coordination:

The early timing and the choice of Washington correlate closely with two simultaneous crises: President Trump’s threats to withdraw the United States from NATO—voiced publicly in early April—and the ongoing US-Israeli war against Iran that had begun in late February, together with the resulting closure of the Strait of Hormuz. A conference convened six weeks ahead of schedule, in the American capital, with NATO’s leadership, US commanders, intelligence chiefs, and defense-technology executives in attendance, plausibly served to coordinate Western positions at a moment of genuine alliance peril.

The combined presence of Palantir, Anduril, Helsing, and frontier-AI leadership alongside the US Secretary of the Army, NATO officials, and a Ukrainian missile manufacturer almost certainly involved exchanges relevant to ongoing defense procurement and the integration of AI into Western military doctrine. Whether these conversations shaped subsequent contracts is unverifiable, but the institutional channels existed.

The “Arctic Security” discussions unfolded against the backdrop of the Greenland dispute, and the inclusion of a Greenlandic representative was read by at least one observer as a deliberate signal that the territory enjoys powerful allies within the transatlantic partnership. The meeting’s final day, meanwhile, coincided with a landmark election defeat for Hungary’s long-serving prime minister—an outcome welcomed across much of Brussels and by several Bilderberg-aligned figures.

What Remains Speculation

Despite intense social media commentary, no verified leaks emerged from the Washington meeting. Claims about specific statements, agreements, or “orders” issued lack evidence and should be dismissed as conjecture. Coverage by mainstream outlets was strikingly thin—The Guardian was essentially the only major newspaper to report on the gathering at all—which conspiracy-oriented websites seized upon as proof of a coordinated “blackout.” The presence of editors who then declined to cover the event raises legitimate questions about transparency and conflicts of interest, but does not, by itself, demonstrate a conspiracy. The meetings’ influence operates through informal consensus-building rather than directive decision-making. Participants return to their institutions with shared frameworks and contacts but no binding commitments.

The Transatlantic Dimension Under Strain

The 2026 meeting laid bare a paradox at the heart of contemporary Bilderberg more starkly than any gathering before it. The conference’s founding purpose—maintaining strong US-Europe relations—had never faced a more existential test. With an American administration openly weighing withdrawal from NATO, dismissive of the alliance’s value, and pursuing a war that its European partners had refused to join, the alliance’s most prominent advocates and most senior officials needed to talk privately more, not less.

The composition of the American delegation reflected this fracture: figures aligned with the Trump administration sat alongside long-standing institutionalists and columnists of the transatlantic establishment. Whether Washington functioned as a bridge across that divide or merely as a forum for parallel monologues is one of the more interesting open questions about the 72nd meeting—and one the Chatham House Rule ensures will remain unanswered.

The Legacy of Founding Figures

Understanding Bilderberg’s evolution requires acknowledging its architects. Key founding figures like David Rockefeller shaped the conference’s structure and philosophy, establishing traditions that persist seven decades later. That lineage was quietly present in Washington: King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands, who attended alongside Queen Máxima, is the grandson of Prince Bernhard, the conference’s co-founder.

The year also brought a sober reminder of how long the conference’s history reaches and how contested parts of it remain. In March 2026, a Brussels court referred Étienne Davignon—the 93-year-old former chairman of the Bilderberg steering committee—for trial over alleged complicity in the 1961 assassination of Congolese leader Patrice Lumumba. Davignon died in May, before any trial could take place, extinguishing the proceedings. The episode underscored that the figures who have steered Bilderberg across the decades carry legacies that history is still working to judge.

The 2026 meeting demonstrated both continuity and adaptation. Core principles—privacy, diversity of viewpoints, and transatlantic focus—remained constant. Yet the agenda’s emphasis on the future of warfare, the defense-industrial base, and AI in national security showed unmistakable responsiveness to a world in which the post-1945 liberal order can no longer be assumed.

Frequently Asked QuestionsQ: Where and when was Bilderberg 2026 held?

A: The 72nd Bilderberg Meeting was held from April 9 to 12, 2026, at the Salamander Washington DC Hotel in Washington, D.C. It was the thirteenth American-hosted meeting in Bilderberg history and the second in Washington—the same building, then known as the Mandarin Oriental, having hosted the 2022 conference.

Q: How many people attended?

A: The official participant list named 128 individuals from 23 countries, with around two-thirds drawn from Europe and the remainder from North America. As is customary, the published list may not capture every attendee, since steering committee members and certain guests can participate without being individually named.

Q: Why was the 2026 meeting held in April instead of summer?

A: Bilderberg almost always convenes in late May or June, so the April 9 start was roughly six weeks earlier than usual. Observers widely attributed the change to the speed of world events—an active US war against Iran and President Trump’s threats to leave NATO—which the organizers evidently judged too urgent to defer until summer.

Q: Are the Bilderberg Meetings really secret?

A: The discussions are private, not secret. The participant list and topic agenda are published on the official website. No decisions are made, and participants can use information gained but cannot attribute statements. This differs from truly secret gatherings that deny their existence.

Q: Do Bilderberg meetings determine world policy?

A: No evidence supports this claim. The meetings facilitate informal dialogue among influential people, potentially building consensus on approaches to problems. Actual policy decisions occur through legitimate governmental and institutional processes. Correlation between topics discussed and subsequent developments does not prove causation.

Q: What was different about the 2026 agenda?

A: The 2026 agenda was the most defense- and security-tilted in recent memory. New entries such as “Future of Warfare,” the “Trans-Atlantic Defence-Industrial Relationship,” “Arctic Security,” and “Digital Finance” replaced softer-sounding 2025 categories. Standalone topics for “Russia,” “China,” and “The West” framed great-power competition far more bluntly than the previous year’s “Authoritarian Axis.”

Q: Why did the attendance of a Greenland representative attract attention?

A: It was the first time a Greenlandic figure had been invited to Bilderberg, and it came as the Trump administration voiced ambitions regarding the territory. With “Arctic Security” newly added to the agenda, observers read the inclusion as a signal that Greenland has allies within the transatlantic partnership—though, as always, no statement clarified the intent.

Q: What’s the relationship between Bilderberg and other elite forums?

A: Bilderberg participants often attend other conferences like the World Economic Forum in Davos, Munich Security Conference, and Aspen Ideas Festival. These forums serve different functions—Davos is public and expansive, while Bilderberg is private and focused. There’s significant overlap in attendees but distinct purposes.

Key Takeaways
  1. Documented Facts: The 2026 Washington meeting occurred April 9-12 with 128 listed participants from 23 countries discussing 14 published agenda topics, all verifiable through official sources.
  2. A War Footing: More than half the agenda addressed warfare, defense industry, Russia, China, the Middle East, or alliance cohesion—the most militarized list in recent Bilderberg history.
  3. AI Fused With Warfare: The leadership of DeepMind, Anthropic, Mistral, Meta AI, Palantir, Anduril, and Helsing attended alongside the US Army Secretary and senior commanders, with a Ukrainian missile maker present—an unmistakable convergence of frontier AI and weapons.
  4. Alliance in Crisis: The meeting unfolded as the Trump administration openly weighed withdrawing from NATO after the war on Iran, making the future of the West—Bilderberg’s founding cause—the existential question of the gathering.
  5. An Early, Symbolic Venue: Convening six weeks ahead of schedule, in the American capital, in the country’s 250th anniversary year, signaled a conference moving at the speed of crisis.
  6. No Evidence of Direct Control: Despite decades of scrutiny and near-total mainstream media silence in 2026, no verified evidence supports claims that Bilderberg meetings directly determine policy. Influence operates through informal consensus-building and networking.
  7. The Tech-Defense Money Trail: The deepening role of Silicon Valley defense-technology capital and personnel—Palantir, Anduril, Helsing, Meta AI—was the defining structural trend of the 2024-2026 meetings.
Conclusion: Washington in Context

The 2026 Washington meeting demonstrated Bilderberg’s adaptation to a world that increasingly resembles the geopolitical environment of its founding more than the optimistic post-Cold War decades. Hard security, alliance management, and technological competition—the conference’s original preoccupations in 1954—were once again at the centre of its agenda, this time sharpened by an active war and a genuine question over whether the Western alliance would hold.

Its significance should neither be exaggerated into omnipotent conspiracy nor dismissed as irrelevant networking. The truth lies between: influential people discussing important topics in private likely generates some degree of informal coordination, but actual policy emerges through legitimate institutional processes.

As the West navigates AI-enabled warfare, a fracturing transatlantic alliance, great-power competition, and an American administration questioning the order its predecessors built, understanding where elite consensus forms—or fractures—provides valuable context for interpreting world events. The 72nd Bilderberg Meeting offered one window into those elite perspectives, neither more nor less transparent than its 71 predecessors.

Are Bilderberg, World Economic Forum, and Semafor, dangerous? Why a repeat of the 2008 economic collapse is coming.

BY Eric Zuesse

All three provide to the billionaires from the U.S. empire, and their personal representatives, an opportunity to meet and discuss privately with each other, and thus facilitate — but do not prove — their conspiring together against not only the billionaires outside the empire, but governments over foreign lands they wish to acquire (add to the empire), and also against the workers and consumers in their own country. (Ultimately, this connects to the Government’s “Too Big To Fail” protection of the mega-rich, and more.)

Semafor is, among the general public, the least-discussed of the three, because it’s the newest, and it’s the only one of the three that’s additionally a news-medium. It is a superb one as a representative to a broader public, of “elite” or “C-suite” (top-level) corporate opinion in the imperial country itself, the Unites States. Semafor publishes both news and opinion that might be of special interest and useful to these individuals; but there is no such danger which might spring from that media-operation — and it has competitors in that field: the Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, Economist, Forbes, Bloomberg, etc. But none of those has also the elite private conference networking operation that Semafor does.

On October 12th, Semafor’s Business Editor, Liz Hoffman, headlined “Single point of failure”, and reported that the U.S. Government’s “Too Big To Fail” (pro-economic-concentration) policy that had led up to and caused the 2008 economic crash has since expanded so that it now includes more than just financial corporations:

“You want ‘too big to fail,’ here it is!” the small-screen version of Hank Paulson screams in HBO’s 2011 film as he stares down AIG’s failure. The plane that had shuttled him to an emergency meeting in New York had been leased from AIG. The construction he passed on his way to the New York Fed, financed by AIG. Eighty million retirement policies, insured by AIG.

In 2008, the fact that one company had become the entire economy’s single point of failure was obvious only when it was on the brink of collapse. At least this time we can see it on a blue-sky day: Nvidia is officially too big to fail.

More than $108 billion of data-center leases, guaranteed by Nvidia. Eight cents of every dollar wagered on the S&P 500, invested in Nvidia. Fifty billion dollars worth of stock in private companies, many of them its customers, and another $63 billion in listed companies, owned by Nvidia. It is an AI-rollup machine, with fresh reports over the weekend that it’s in talks to acquire or invest in both a customer, Reflection AI, and a competitor, d-Matrix.

Its balance sheet is strong enough for now, a message delivered with a buyback flex last month. But Nvidia has become AI’s bank and security blanket, a one-stop shop for financial and emotional reinforcement. Setting aside the numbers, a company is too big to fail when the answer to “would the government step in to save it?” is yes.

Big banks undergo annual exams to see how they would fare under different economic conditions — a spike in unemployment, a decline in home prices. What would be revealed by a stress test of Nvidia that contemplated a rise in the cost of AI-linked debt, a decline in venture-backed startup values, and a slowdown in data-center construction?

There’s a reason Paulson let Lehman Brothers fail but rescued AIG.

Of course, her argument for the necessity that the U.S. Government terminate its TBTF policy and replace it by a comprehensive regulatory policy to prevent any one company from being that powerful is flawless. But in the more immediate context, which is what these executives need, its message is that the next economic crash will be the biggest one ever, and that Nvidia is today’s AIG, not any sort of Lehman. Nvidia is TBTF, but the companies it is insuring (Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Equinix, QTS, etc.) are not; so, any o them could be the next Lehman Brothers.

Here is how the 2008 collapse occurred:

Financial derivatives were approved by Bill Clinton at the end of his Administration and are designed and used instead of an insurance policy, in order to transfer financial risk to the public and government — to socialize the risks (the losses) while privatizing (to the financial corporations) the gains (the profits). A credit default swap is a financial derivative that substitutes for insurance against the default of a tranche (or group) of collateralized debt obligations. On September 16th of 2008, the Federal Reserve bailed out A.I.G. with an initial $85 billion loan collateralized by A.I.G.’s assets, and with warrants for an 80% federal stake in the company. A.I.G. had collapsed from credit default swap (CDS) securities issued from its London office, insuring $441 billion of other companies’ AAA collateralized debt obligation (CDO) bonds (mortgage-backed bonds), which had been over-rated by Moody’s and S&P. These bonds had been over-rated because the creditworthiness of the borrowers wasn’t being revealed to the bond-rating services. People who were trusting the credit-rating services were trusting basically lies. (The salespeople who had sold mortgages to these homebuyers were receiving their commissions based upon their sales-volume, and therefore had every incentive to close each deal regardless of a borrower’s ability to pay, and not to let such facts get in the way of culminating a deal. Those bond-rating lies helped the financial firms that created and marketed those Mortgage-Backed Securities or “MBS” loan-packages.) Another reason these CDO bonds that were produced for investors were over-rated by the credit-rating agencies is that the firms which were selling these CDO’s served as the paymasters to Moody’s and to S&P on their rating of these bonds, and consequently controlled the CDO bond-ratings. CDS (credit default swaps) were thus toxic investment derivatives which were essentially unbacked (or uncapitalized) bets that these CDO bonds wouldn’t go bust. But plunging home-values in the U.S. (due to these actually sub-prime mortgages) were lowering other property-values, and so the U.S. experienced a contagion of CDO bond defaults on even regularmortgages.

An April 2023 U.N. study, “REDUCING THE COST OF FINANCE FOR AFRICA: The Role of Sovereign Credit Ratings”, reported (page 41) that systematically under-rating by America’s S&P, Moody’s, and Fitch, of the creditworthiness of the nations in Africa causes them to overpay, because of the resultant unrealistically higher interest rates, $74.5 billion in excessive borrowing costs, per year. All of this is part of an imperialistic system, the U.S. empire, which benefits America’s billionaires enormously.

Furthermore, Bush’s U.S. Treasury Secretary Hank Paulson (former head of Goldman Sachs) placed Goldman Sachs on the committee he set up to advise him on what to do with AIG, and Goldman was owed a ton of money by AIG. That alone should have sent the former Paulson to prison. Bailing out AIG ultimately cost U.S. taxpayers far more than did the entire 1980’s S&L bailout. On 9 August 2009, Gretchen Morgenson and Don Van Natta Jr. headlined in The New York Times, “Paulson’s Calls to Goldman Tested Ethics”, and they revealed that Paulson had recognized that his communications with Goldman in this AIG matter violated ethics rules and that he therefore requested waivers of those rules; and, “On Sept 17, the day Mr. Paulson secured his waivers, he and Mr. Blankfein [Goldman’s chief] spoke five times. Two of the calls occurred before Mr. Paulson’s waivers were granted.” Moreover, “During the week of the A.I.G. bailout alone, Mr. Paulson and Mr. Blankfein spoke two dozen times, … far more frequently than Mr. Paulson  did with other Wall Street executives.” (After all, Paulson was receiving his retirement checks from Goldman, not from any of those other firms.) Furthermore: “Goldman not only received $13 billion in taxpayer money as a result of the A.I.G. bailout, but also was given permission at the height of the crisis to convert from an investment firm to a national bank, giving it easier access to federal financing. … Goldman also won federal debt guarantees and received $10 billion under the Troubled Asset Relief Program. It benefited further when the Securities and Exchange Commission suddenly changed its rules governing stock trading, barring investors from being able to bet against Goldman’s shares by selling them short.” The Times’s reporters requested to speak with Mr. Paulson, but he declined, and the reporters spoke instead with his aide Michele Davis, who made several allegations the reporters found to be false, such as that no waiver from the Treasury Department was even legally required, and that Paulson had no authority over the decision whether or not to rescue AIG. Blankfein’s reputation plummeted to its lowest point in 2010 after revelations that Goldman Sachs packaged and sold mortgage securities that appeared designed to fail, and then shorted the bonds, making a killing for the firm while its customers lost money. JPMorganChase did likewise, but its chief Jamie Dimon suffered no such blame, perhaps because he was especially a friend of President Obama.

I asked ChatGPT: “Paulson let Lehman collapse but not AIG. If Nvidia is today’s AIG, what might be today’s Lehman?” It answered (and then explained why): “My leading candidate is CoreWeave. My second is Oracle. But if your analogy concerns which institution Washington might deliberately allow to fail while rescuing Nvidia, CoreWeave is the more revealing possibility. The distinction is between a company that is financially vulnerable and one whose failure could threaten the entire financial system.” In other words: Oracle is too powerful for the Government not to bail it out in a crash.

This is useful information for the mega-rich, but not for individuals whose net worth consists mainly in their personal abodes. Semafor aims to serve the former; so, informing them about the riskiness of Nvidia might help that clientele.

In September 2020, the RAND Corporation — the think tank that (as was buried halfway down a long report by another think tank) received during 2019-2023 sixteen times as much funding from its top donor the Pentagon (perhaps the federal Department that helps billionaires the most) as did all of the other 9 among the top ten think-tank recipients of Pentagon funding put together; and so it clearly is the Pentagon’s think tank — issued nonetheless a study, “Trends in Income From 1975 to 2018”, by Carter C. Price and Kathryn A. Edwards, which reported that: “From 1975 to 2018, the difference between the aggregate taxable income for those below the 90th percentile and the equitable growth counterfactual totals $47 trillion,” which means that during those 43 years, the richest 10% received $47 trillion more than if America’s income distribution had remained the same as it had been in 1975 (which was about the same income distribution as had been in place ever since 1947, the first measured year). Furthermore, it showed that the top 10% share of taxable income increased from 33% in 1975 to 50% in 2018. Their “Figure 1” showed that ever since 1980 (that’s President Reagan), income-inequality soared in America. (Also see their follow-up: https://www.rand.org/pubs/research_briefs/RBA516-1.html). Making the result specific to normal Americans, the report said on page 10: “For example, the median income for all adults with nonzero income, was $26,000 in 1975, [and] grew to $36,000 by 2018. Had income for this percentile grown at the same pace as the economy [or the pre-existing income-distribution been maintained], it would have reached $57,000,” or 58% higher than it had been in 1975. So, the average American income-recipient was receiving in 2018 only 36,000/57,000 or 63% as much income as would have been the case had the 1947-1975 income distribution remained stable instead of soaring only for the richest 10%. Moreover, “due to significant increases in the dispersion of incomes within the 99th percentile, the average income growth for the top one percent was substantially higher, at more than 300 percent of the real per capita GDP rate.” The wealth-growth for the richest 1% dwarfed that for even the rest of the top 10%. So, was there something wrong with the previous income-distribution, or is there something wrong with the current income-distribution? Maybe invitation-only conferences of and for only billionaires and their representatives are a part of that trend, of more and more wealth being transferred to the super-rich, from everyone else. It’s done not merely by individuals, but, above all, by the system, the societal machinery. And organizations such as Bilderberg, WEF, and Semafor, facilitate (oil) that machinery.

Investigative historian Eric Zuesse’s latest book, AMERICA’S EMPIRE OF EVIL: Hitler’s Posthumous Victory, and Why the Social Sciences Need to Change, is about how America took over the world after World War II in order to enslave it to U.S.-and-allied billionaires. Their cartels extract the world’s wealth by control of not only their ‘news’ media but the social ‘sciences’ — duping the public.
