amerikan vaudeville .....

amerikan vaudeville .....

An incident in the Strait of Hormuz on Sunday involving US warships & small, high-speed Iranian craft has served to heighten tensions in the Gulf on the eve of bushit’s departure for his first extended trip to the Middle East.

The Iranian foreign ministry downplayed the encounter as “a normal issue” that “happens every now & then for both sides”, but the Pentagon & White House did the opposite, claiming that the Iranian actions had been provocative & dangerous.

The only details have been provided by US Vice-Admiral Kevin Cosgriff, commander of the US Fifth Fleet based in Bahrain, who told the media that five Iranian boats had approached three US warships at high speed as they passed through the Strait of Hormuz some three miles outside Iranian waters.

A radio message warned that the US warships would shortly explode as two of the Iranian craft came within 500 metres of the USS Ingraham & dropped white box-like objects in its path.

The US warships increased their “onboard readiness” but no shots were fired and the Ingraham passed safely. The entire incident was over in less than 30 minutes.

A series of high-level US warnings followed. Pentagon spokesman Bryan Whitman described the moves, allegedly involving the Iranian Revolutionary Guard (IRG), as a “reckless, dangerous & potentially hostile act”.  In a separate statement, White House national security spokesman Gordon Johndroe declared: “We urge the Iranians to refrain from such provocative actions that could lead to a dangerous incident in the future.”

US Defence Secretary Robert Gates declared the incident to be “troubling” & “a matter of real concern”.

All these pronouncements have to be taken with a large grain of salt.

While there are no independent accounts of what took place, it certainly cannot be ruled out that the encounter was deliberately provoked by the US navy, rather than the IRG vessels, with the intention of inflaming tensions as bushit arrives in the region tomorrow.

Washington has a long history of staging such provocations, including for the purpose of creating the pretext for war. In 1964, for instance, the Johnson administration manufactured the notorious “Gulf of Tonkin incident” that provided the justification for escalating the US military intervention in Vietnam.

Of course, The New York Times told us everything that we needed to know.

US Warships are in the Persian Gulf. The Strait of Hormuz, through which all warships must pass to enter the Gulf, is the same passage through which all oil-bearing ships must pass bringing oil to the US. And "Oil prices on world markets spiked briefly on the news, which was first reported by CNN." That pretty much says it all.

US Navy warships are parked a few miles off the coast of Iran. They are there, apparently, to protect oil shipping lanes into & out of the Persian Gulf. Tensions are mounting.

If provocation is at issue, those facts must remain front & centre.

If Iranian warships ever made it as close to the American coastline as US warships now lie to Iranian shores, the US would in all likelihood attack them.

Iran is not attacking US warships - parked on their doorstep.

The US State Department last year warned Iran "not to interfere with US interests in the region."  What the State Department did not explain to the American people is what interests average Americans have in the region.  The answer to that question is, likely none.

That leads to the next question: whose interests is the American Navy protecting in the Persian Gulf?  The owners of the oil tankers, apparently.

The American people are the end consumers, who pay what's marked on the pump. Bluntly stated, the US Navy appears to be in the Persian Gulf to protect the interests of US-based oil businesses, not the interests of the American people.

Incidentally, the second-largest deposits of oil in the world lie beneath the soil of Iraq, so the same formula applies there as well.

pure bushit .....

Just two days after the U.S. Navy released the eerie video of Iranian speedboats swarming around American warships, which featured a chilling threat in English, the Navy is saying that the voice on the tape could have come from the shore or from another ship.

The near-clash occurred over the weekend in the Strait of Hormuz. On the U.S.-released recording, a voice can be heard saying to the Americans, "I am coming to you. You will explode after a few minutes."

We're saying that we cannot make a direct connection to the boats there," said the spokesperson. "It could have come from the shore, from another ship passing by. However, it happened in the middle of all the very unusual activity, so as we assess the information and situation, we still put it in the total aggregate of what happened Sunday morning. I guess we're not saying that it absolutely came from the boats, but we're not saying it absolutely didn't."

Voices On Recording May Not Have Been From Iranian Speedboats

Of course, bushit has initiated an extremely dangerous war provocation just off Iran's coast, in the Strait of Hormuz. With the whacko warrior in the Middle East to mobilize a collection of oil-rich US client states against Iran, his cronies have been working overtime to  create a public-relations incident to heighten tensions in the region & threaten yet another war.

On January 6, the US Navy alleged that a "confrontation" took place between its three massive guided-missile attack vessels & five small, open Iranian speedboats, at the entrance to the Persian Gulf & in the world's most important & busiest sea lanes. The Navy even produced a video purporting to show the Iranian speedboats approaching the US warships.

On January 9, the Iranian media quoted an Iranian official as saying: “Images released by the US Department of Defence about the Navy vessels were made from file pictures & the audio was fabricated."

Nearly five years ago, the bushit bunch, with the active collaboration of the US Congress & the media, led the US into war, claiming that Iraq possessed chemical & nuclear weapons & that the people of Iraq were behind the attacks on 9/11.  Now the deluded bushit is clearly grasping for some excuse - any excuse - to attack Iran.

Of course, once the National Intelligence Estimate revealed that the US administration had been lying about Iran’s alleged nuclear weapons program, the bushit bandits have been looking for any justification, real or fabricated, to sell a military attack that they have been planning for years.

The real provocation here doesn’t come from Iran. The US currently has half of its Navy off the coast of Iran, including nuclear-armed aircraft carriers, guided-missile destroyers, frigates, cruisers & submarines.

Meanwhile, turd blossom is spending eight days visiting Kuwait, Bahrain, Abu Dhabi, Dubai & Saudi Arabia. The purpose of his trip is to convince these corrupt, feudal regimes, which are dependent US client states, that Iran represents a dangerous threat, in preparation for a US or Israeli attack.

The fact is that the US Navy has again & again held major war games to plan for & stage just such a confrontation with Iran. The Pentagon has announced that it has already set targets on thousands of sites in Iran.

Even the video released by the bushit administration to the media - if looked at closely- belies the very story that is being drummed-up. It shows five small open-air Iranian speedboats buzzing in the distance, far from the USS Hopper. Iranian boats have every right to patrol & defend their own coastal waters.

It should be noted that, according to the Pentagon’s own description, the USS Hopper is a guided-missile destroyer. It carries an M240 machine gun that can fire 10 armour-piercing projectiles per second & is capable of carrying nuclear missiles that can destroy whole cities. This high-tech ship weighs 8,373 tons & measures 504 feet in length. It was travelling in convoy with the USS Port Royal - a guided-missile cruiser that weighs 9,600 tons fully loaded & has a length of 567 feet & is also capable of firing Tomahawk cruise missiles - & the guided-missile frigate USS Ingram, weighing 4,100 tons & measuring 445 feet in length.

These three deadly ships are just a small part of the US Navy armada arrayed off the Iranian coast.

And even after 16 of the top US spy agencies publicly released a National Intelligence Estimate concluding that Iran has no nuclear program, at least since 2003, nor nuclear weapons, the bushit gang of war criminals have persisted with their threatening campaign against Iran.

It is important to remember that the massive US bombing of Vietnam & the Johnson administration's escalation of the war was preceded by reports of an attack on a US destroyer in the Gulf of Tonkin off the coast of Vietnam - which years later was finally admitted to be phoney.

Bushit & his criminal pals are just as phoney ….. but a hell of a lot more dangerous.
