By now, it’s clear to almost everyone that the West versus East policy train wreck we are witnessing is as much about personalities and warped ideals as it is about hard truths, reality, or anything quantifiable. The Western world is a broken rollercoaster of paid or converted geopolitical psychopaths. Here are some of the latest churnings from the Washington asylum, with my comments.

Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (recognized in the Russian Federation as a foreign media agent). If you listen or read backward, you hear the creepy ghost voices of Russian haters like Zbigniew Brzezinski and sometimes the dearly departed former Arizona Senator John McCain. Consumer at average speed and in clockwise revolutions, you are apt to pick up Anne Applebaum, the Pulitzer Prize Winning Washington think tank superhero married to Poland’s former defense minister. Her recent efforts come from an interview with RFE/RL’s Georgia Service entitled “Anne Applebaum: Putin Is Really Destroying Modern Russia.”

However, she makes no arguments as to just how Mr. Putin is destroying the new Russia he more or less built single-handedly. Her theme is that dastardly Russian oligarchs wanted the Ukraine war to steal factories and other assets for themselves. Yes, you read correctly. The whole interview is a juvenile Q&A with facets of recent headlines intertwined. Here’s how she figures the Ukraine mess will be settled:

“But, you know, the Ukrainian position is that Ukraine has only one set of borders, which are the international borders agreed to in 1991. Therefore, the Russians will have to leave, and we’ll have to find perhaps there has to be a way for them to make amends or make up for the damage they’ve caused.”

Did you catch it? “We’ll have to find” how the Russian people can pay for destroying a NATO/Nazi fortress 200 miles from Moscow. The woman is either an idiot. A paid-off remora of the Neocon-run menace that America has become. She was one of the first to swear Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction. Her husband, also a member of the European Parliament, traveled to Afghanistan in the mid-1980s “to write about the war the mujahideen were waging against the Soviet Union.” But enough about Polish family commitments to hating Russians.

Next, let’s turn to The Telegraph and the nonsensical, humorous, and ultimately hypocritical analysis of Lisa Haseldine. This young reporter, in search of the streetcar, headed to a Pulitzer, says, “Putin is Breeding a New Generation of Militants.” She also says new schoolbooks will be issued this year teaching students how to handle Kalashnikovs, grenades, and drones. The author even dredges the term “jingoistic mindset” to describe the “new” Russian brainwashing technique. The funny thing is, Russians have always been flag wavers, and so have Americans on the 4th of July. Has she discovered a Russian version of the Boy Scouts of America? Haseldine, Assistant Online Editor at The Spectator, is the world’s oldest surviving (barely) political magazine. And its view on Russia is about the same as when Nicholas II was shot with his family in Yekaterinburg.

Crossing the Big Pond, the Wall Street Journal’s almost-Pulitzer winner Ukrainian-born Yaroslav Trofimov writes that Vladimir Putin being deposed is the only way toward peace between West and East! Oh, that’s right, this is pretty much what the White House, the U.S. Senate, Whitehall, and bloody King Charles say too. So, why do Americans need to read the WSJ repeatedly to learn the same thing? With this, I ask myself why I bother rehashing Western media’s propaganda against Putin and the Russians. It seems necessary to remind myself and my readers what sellouts and hypocrites academics, politicians, and journalists in the West have become.

During a phone call, the other day, one Reuters story tells of Vladimir Putin and his Iranian counterpart Ebrahim Raisi discussing Iran’s possible future membership in the BRICS grouping. The Reuters blurb is only two or three sentences, but it tells us the news services know of other stories; they refuse to publish anything approaching reality. For instance, nowhere in the Western press will you find the level of Russia’s plans to set up branches of top Russian universities in Africa.

And lastly, Lisa Haseldine wrote a misleading and erroneous bit about the latest school curriculum. It has nothing to do with the current “denazification” of Ukraine, but is instead a return to the primary military training to schools, which has long been expected. In Western societies, it’s difficult to understand the pride and tradition Russians feel for performing their civic, parental, and inherent duty to prepare to protect their families and their country. I just spoke with a friend in the Kherson region familiar with the subject, and he assures me Russian kids have been assembling and disassembling rifles for a long time.

The same is true in America, in the South, where I come from. Only now, the WOKE culture is set on smashing anything in our heritage that is either masculine or pugilistic. The thing is, if this ever happens in Russia, there will no longer be a Russia. I leave you with an authentic quote from a man of valor in Russia. I know The Spectator editor will never understand or even investigate the real Russia, but here’s the quote from a friend sending his kids to Kherson schools next month.

“Every family has its heroes and those who died in the Great Patriotic War; this memory cannot be betrayed so that such a war does not happen again. The West openly wants the destruction of my Homeland, and since the time of Gorbachev, has done everything to erase this memory, but in vain. We are talking about the revival of Russia and returning to its roots.”

An article from CNN that’s based upon Walter Isaacson’s upcoming new bio, Elon Musk, says that Musk turned down the insistence from the governments of America and Ukraine to enable them to possibly destroy Russia’s largest naval base, which is in the Crimean region of Russia — a naval base that Ukraine claims to be Ukrainian territory though it had been Russian territory from 1783 to 1954 when the Soviet dictator Khrushchev arbitrarily transferred Crimea from Russia to Ukraine — and that Musk did it because Russia’s Government had told him that if such an invasion would succeed, then Russia would use any means necessary in order to defeat Ukraine, up to and including a nuclear attack against the United States itself. In Russia’s view, Crimea is Russian territory again since the 16 March 2014 plebiscite produced more than 90% voting to rejoin Russia; and, so, any Ukrainian invasion of it would be a Ukrainian invasion of Russia. (Independent Gallup polling of Crimeans, done both before and after that plebiscite, likewise showed — both times — that over 90% of Crimeans wanted and supporting Crimea’s being returned to Russia.)

On September 8th, CBS News headlined “Elon Musk says he denied Ukraine satellite request to avoid complicity in ‘major act of war’ vs. Russia”, and reported that,

Tech billionaire Elon Musk has said that he prevented a Ukrainian attack on a Russian Navy base last year by declining Kyiv’s request to activate internet access in the Black Sea near Moscow-annexed Crimea. Satellite internet service Starlink, operated by Musk-owned company SpaceX, has been deployed in Ukraine since shortly after it was invaded by Russia in February 2022.

“There was an emergency request from government authorities to activate Starlink all the way to Sevastopol. The obvious intent being to sink most of the Russian fleet at anchor,” Musk posted Thursday on X, formerly named Twitter.

Musk was posting in response to a published excerpt of an upcoming biography of the tech tycoon by Walter Isaacson.

In the excerpt published by The Washington Post on Thursday, Isaacson wrote that in September last year, “The Ukrainian military was attempting a sneak attack on the Russian naval fleet based at Sevastopol in Crimea by sending six small drone submarines packed with explosives, and it was using Starlink to guide them to the target.”

Musk had “spoken to the Russian ambassador to the United States… (who) had explicitly told him that a Ukrainian attack on Crimea would lead to a nuclear response,” Isaacson wrote.

Musk “secretly told his engineers to turn off coverage within 100 kilometers of the Crimean coast. As a result, when the Ukrainian drone subs got near the Russian fleet in Sevastopol, they lost connectivity and washed ashore harmlessly”, according to Isaacson.

On September 7th, the book’s author, Isaacson, headlined in the Washington Post, “The untold story of Elon Musk’s support for Ukraine”, with an excerpt from it, which said that Musk had warned Ukraine’s government that “Russia will stop at nothing, nothing, to hold Crimea. This poses catastrophic risk to the world.” (He didn’t say “World War Three” — he wasn’t that direct.) He gave that as his reason for saying no to Zelensky and to Biden. But the Biden Administration decided that since Musk wouldn’t simply donate to Ukraine the satellite linkage it had needed in order to be able to destroy Russia’s Sevastopol (Russia’s largest) naval base, American taxpayers would simply buy from his Starlink the right to control it there and provide that ability to Ukraine, so that, in the future, whatever the U.S. and Ukrainian governments want to use Starlink for there, they’ll be able to do. This matter was basically a financial issue for Musk, and he got the money he wanted from it:

In the end, … SpaceX made arrangements with various government agencies to pay for increased Starlink service in Ukraine, with the military and CIA working out the terms of service. More than 100,000 new satellite dishes were sent to Ukraine at the beginning of 2023. In addition, Starlink launched a companion service called Starshield, which was specifically designed for military use. SpaceX licensed Starshield satellites and services to the U.S. military and other agencies, allowing the government to determine how they could and should be used in Ukraine and elsewhere.

After training up reserves and taking delivery of tens of billions of dollars in advanced NATO hardware, Ukraine began a massive summer counteroffensive aimed at dislodging Russian forces from the Donbass, Kherson and Zaporozhye. The counteroffensive has bogged down, with Russia reporting staggering Ukrainian losses in manpower and equipment.

Ukraine’s military may have as little as a month left before the weather brings any attempts to wage further offensive operations to a standstill, Pentagon Joint Chiefs Chairman Mark Milley has said.

“There’s still a reasonable amount of time, probably about 30 to 45 days’ worth of fighting weather left, so the Ukrainians aren’t done, this battle’s not done. And they haven’t achieved – they haven’t finished the fighting part of what they’re trying to accomplish,” Milley said in a joint interview with British state media on Sunday alongside his British counterpart, Sir Tony Radakin.

“So we’ll see. It’s too early to say how this is gonna end. They at least have achieved partial success in what they set out to do,” Milley assured, citing what he characterized as “very steady progress” and a “depth of combat power” on the front lines, but without going into specifics.

“We’ll get the cold as you mentioned. It’ll start uh, the rains will come in, it will become very muddy and it’s be very difficult to maneuver at that point and then you’ll get to deep winter, and then at that point we’ll see where things go. But right now, it is way too early to say that this offensive is failed or not failed. There’s still heavy fighting going on. The Ukrainians are still plugging away with steady progress through the various defensive belts that the Russians have put in place,” the Joint Chiefs chairman said.

Radakin served up an even more optimistic assessment, assuring that “Ukraine is winning and Russia is losing” because Moscow has failed to “subjugate” the country (which was never actually among Russia’s objectives).

“And you’re seeing the international community also applying economic pressure and diplomatic pressure, and Russia is suffering because of that. And it’s broken these rules, and it’s paying the cost,” the admiral added.

Sunday’s interview follows reports late last month that Milley, Radakin, and NATO Supreme Allied Commander Europe Christopher Cavoli had intervened directly in Ukraine’s strategy planning to demand that Ukrainian Commander-in-Chief Valerii Zaluzhnyi change tactics in an attempt to reverse the counteroffensive’s wilting fortunes.

That is why Abrams M1 will not see the REAL combat for a long long time, probably not until nothing is left of VSU. The steady humiliation of NATO hardware continues. But before people begin to speculate about NATO "learning" about modern warfare, keep in mind crucial detail: what really matters in all that are REAL war correlates, or, speaking professionally, combat statistical data sets. Such as math. expectations for different types of munitions, probabilities of hits, destruction of targets, of receiving proper targeting, errors in systems, instrumental, human, external et al, in general--all this crucial data which spurs improvement of existing or, altogether, development of new weapon systems. And here is the catch, NATO doesn't have it.

Those war correlates are priceless, but even what VSU, traditionally lying, provides NATO IS NOT it and it does not provide this critical insight into the technological dimension of the SMO. Sure, NATO may know Russian Army's movements and see some patterns in, say, operation of radar field of Russian Air Defense, but the true treasure is what I described above. This treasure goes through combat logs of units and formations, gets filtered by tactical staffs and then gets into the planning and analytical structures of the General Staff and, eventually, to design bureaus in a form of technical requirements. NATO has no access to this and that is in the main driver behind NATO's (read US) falling behind Russia technologically. As per Challengers--they will have the fate of museum exhibits in Russia, because VSU cannot evacuate these 75-ton monsters from the battlefield. Uralvagonzavod sends greetings to British tank designers and suggests to them to study real warfare, not BS they study in UK degree mills.
