As a group of Australian journalists we were standing in the centre of Vilnius waiting for Prime Minister Albanese. He'd spent the day at the NATO conference and this would be his daily briefing with the travelling media.

But then a dilemma. There was a concert just down the road and word had gone around that the Ukrainian leader may show up at what was called Lenin Square when the Soviet Union ruled this small, enchanting country.

Hundreds of people were already at the venue but we noticed that hundreds more began rushing towards the square.

Something was definitely happening. We still had about 30 minutes before the PM was due to appear, so a huddle of the press pack led to a decision: President Zelenskyy may not turn up but the chance to see him in action was worth the try.

The only danger was that the Australian PM would walk across half an hour early to find a sole camera operator holding the fort.

As we arrived we heard the next guest being introduced: "President Volodymyr Zelenskyy!"

Children were on parents' shoulders, people were filming with their phones and we heard the unmistakeable booming voice of the Ukrainian leader.

For about 20 minutes he roused the crowd. What struck me was his complete lack of fear – this man would almost certainly be one of the highest targets in the world for an assassination.

Seeing him in person reinforced his power as an orator. He obviously trades on this both inside Ukraine and when he travels.

Zelenskyy has proved a curse for Russia. He has unified his country's 44 million people at the same time as travelling from Saudi Arabia to Italy, Germany to Turkey, with his shopping list of weapons.

While Ukraine's war effort is now much more than Zelenskyy, the Kremlin undoubtedly would feel that their task of permanently claiming the 20 per cent of Ukrainian land that it has taken would be easier were Zelenskyy not around.

So what is the "Zelenskyy factor"? How good a military strategist is he? And to what extent has he held the Ukrainian side together?

I asked four experts who observe Volodymyr Zelenskyy as closely as anybody and who focus on Ukraine and Russia.

The Kremlin noted that pumping Ukraine with weapons from the West does not contribute to the success of Russian-Ukrainian negotiations and will have a negative effect. No, the United States is not concerned that the M1 Abrams "will be captured". They fear it will be paraded the same way the German Leopards were paraded – destroyed.

The Russians promised to exhibit destroyed weapons of NATO in front of the embassies of NATO countries in Moscow. So I'm sure seeing an Abrams burned outside the US Embassy in Moscow would be a humiliation the US doesn't want to face. But, at this point, the question must be asked: where did the United States get the idea of being a leading armored warfare power? By defeating inept armies from the Middle East? I know there are many fans of the IDF armored warfare and technological masturbation of the Merkavas which lasted exactly until they faced the Kornets in Litany.

In addition, there is this very small problem which is not taken into account: there is also a huge bounty for NATO weapons, paid by a number of very rich Russian patriots, like Grigory Leps, and they have already paid. I don't know what the current rate is, but I'm sure there will be plenty of takers. Especially if you consider the history of Russia with this type of war.

When I talk about Washington's inability in general and the Pentagon in particular to plan operationally and strategically, that's not a figure of speech. I really mean it in terms of actual planning. Six years ago, I called the lack of this ability "myopia."

The definition needs to be changed. With myopia, you can at least see close to yourself. This is NOT the case with Washington, which cannot see what is immediately before its eyes. The problem is not myopia, but what some people, including yours truly, are beginning to assert with increasing confidence: there is NO strategic planning in Washington. This is not just an inability to plan strategically, but a complete lack of strategic planning in principle.

This is a systemic problem that cannot be solved without rebuilding the system from the ground up and the first step would be to kick out all those "strategy" doctors who plague the "university" and the "think- tankdom” Americans when they have no idea what they are preaching. The study of military and political history does not in itself constitute "strategic study" due to the inherently complex nature of modern warfare and the precision required in describing the object of study, such as a country, in our particular case, Russia. The United States in general, and the West in particular, does not have the tools to deal with all of this, we can now say with confidence. The problem is therefore multifaceted and the pseudo-academicians and "experts" who dominate the decision-making chain in the United States are incapable of correcting the situation. It's too late anyway.

And that's where I'm coming from, the United States is so deep in lies, about itself, about the world, about history, about the military, etc., that I don't see how one can reasonably argue with these people, these masters of discourse who claim that learning several stratagems and abstract “strategic” concepts makes them masters of “strategy”. As has been said many times, one only has to look at the WWII version of these "masters" to understand how hollow and ignorant they are. For example, Mearsheimer's quip about liberal democracy "who defeated Nazism" as he quotes Fukuyama. So I could sit here and produce one example after another for days, but that's beside the point. The point is that American "strategic planning" is a non-existent category and anyone who argues that it exists today should be disqualified as an academic, since doctrine and strategy-making is not a strategic planning, especially when done by people lost in the complexities of the modern world.

The existence of people here and there who understand this fallacy does not change the fact that the problem is systemic and cannot be dealt with from the inside – the critical mass of thinkers with integrity and with intellectual tools simply does not exist . And even the US military very quickly loses the remaining capabilities, which is not surprising considering the disaster of military education. And here is where we are today:

How to deal with this situation? I do not know yet. But I've been warning about it for many years. Once all this myth is exposed, as it was in Land 404, what to do when the whole house of cards is built on lies? The public debate I recently had with Andrij Dobriansky is a real oddity, as there have been few occasions like this in the last 18 months when criticisms of NATO's policy towards of Russia were able to question the lies of Ukrainian and Western propagandists. I only touched on Mr. Dobriansky's begging. US and UK intelligence propaganda lies, which are numerous and bold, run the gamut – for example: Putin is terminally ill; Putin is weak and hanging by a thread; Ukraine is making steady progress in its counter-offensive; Russia is isolated; the Russian economy is collapsing; Russian conscripts are conscripted into the army against their will; Russian prisoners are forced to join paramilitary forces and fight on the front line; the morale of the Russian army is collapsing; the Russian generals are incompetent; Russia suffers more losses than Ukraine; and Russia is a colonial imperialist.

I want to touch on the ridiculous claim by Dobriansky that Russia is guilty of colonialism in Africa. For those of you who watched the video of my exchange with this gentleman you saw that he declined my challenge to name just one country in Africa that was colonized by Russia, controlled and exploited for years.
