Prime Minister Tony Abbott has been forced to defend George Brandis in Parliament after the Senate passed a motion declaring him "unfit to hold the office of Attorney-General" over the Government's criticism of Human Rights Commission president Gillian Triggs.

The Opposition pressed the issue in Question Time, asking Mr Abbott if he still had confidence in the nation's chief law officer.

Mr Abbott responded "of course" and accused Labor of playing personality politics.

"What we have seen yet again from the Leader of the Opposition is the jeering, sneering and smearing which is unfortunately all this opposition is capable of," he told Parliament.

"Of course I have confidence in the Attorney-General.

We don't care Tony... We  NEVER HAD CONFIDENCE IN HIM WHEN HE WAS IN THE SHADOWS of OPPOSITION.  We still don't have any ounce of confidence in him since he was elevated to this important role in which he disgraces himself by supporting bigots, wants to spy on us decent citizens and by attacking Justice by attacking Ms Trigg, amongst many other ugly things.

The Coalition party room is expected to rubber stamp an expansion of Australia's military commitment to Iraq as early as Tuesday as Prime Minister Tony Abbott moves to capitalise on a poll recovery with headline-grabbing policy initiatives this week.

The plan was due to be discussed at Monday's cabinet meeting with an announcement tipped once Coalition MPs are briefed as part of Mr Abbott's new "inclusive" approach to government.

The meeting was expected to feature a "political" discussion by senior ministers without bureaucrats or advisers present.

The boost - which risks being branded as mission creep - follows last week's unexpected announcement by New Zealand Prime Minister John Key of some 143 New Zealand military personnel to be installed in Iraq in a joint deployment with Australia.

The training force is expected to be between 200 and 300 Australian soldiers and will be deployed by the middle of the year.

As Tony Turdy now says : "I will include you in MY decisions..." "You are encouraged to use the rubber stamps next to you, otherwise you might end up like Ruddock..."

Not a khaki recovery, but a caca indecency...

mission creep when you're not having "mission creep"...

Prime Minister Tony Abbott has rejected suggestions that sending another 300 troops to Iraq amounts to "mission creep" and has not ruled out future increases in Australia's contribution to the fight against Islamic State.

Mr Abbott announced the boost to Australia's commitment after discussing the decision with Cabinet and Government backbenchers this morning.

"It is critical for Australia just as it is critical for the wider world that this death cult, this apocalyptic millenarian death cult be disrupted, degraded and ultimately destroyed," he said at a press conference, flanked by the Defence Minister and the Chief of the Defence Force.

When lying is not lying?... The Chief of the defence Forces should be ashamed of being flanked by two LYING dorks, but then he could be a third one, in the picture...

training, retraining and re-retraining defectors to ISIL...

From Iran to Israel to Korea to Romania, the list of countries that have trained Iraqis since 2003 is lengthy. And none achieved anything.

“Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” Anonymous, mistakenly attributed to Einstein.
With the [Abbott] government set to re-announce what New Zealand Prime Minister John Key has already announced — that Australian soldiers will be returning to Iraq to help “train” Iraqi soldiers — we’re continuing a long and proud tradition of foreigners...
