faceless for rudd?...THE fallout from Julia Gillard's ministerial reshuffle has worsened, with the Minister for Manufacturing, Kim Carr, labelling as ''absolute bullshit'' anonymous accusations that he was demoted because of poor performance and attacking colleagues who lacked the ''guts'' to put the assertions to his face. His angry retaliation came as the Minister for Resources, Martin Ferguson, pointedly refused to directly back the Prime Minister. Asked whether he had shifted his support from Ms Gillard to Kevin Rudd, Mr Ferguson said: ''I'm loyal to the Labor Party.'' He said: ''I have a very professional relationship with both Julia Gillard and Kevin Rudd and it's about just continuing to do the job that I have responsibility for.'' His comments ricocheted through the government. ''This is going to go on and on,'' said one senior source about what is now feared to be an ongoing tactic of destabilisation by Mr Rudd and his supporters. ''It will rise up and come down again and rise again.'' Read more: http://www.smh.com.au/national/minister-refuses-to-back-gillard-20111215-1owyb.html#ixzz1geGRR0LI ------------------ Poor petals... not a faceless man...
Labor frontbencher Martin Ferguson has reaffirmed his support for Julia Gillard amid reports of senior ministers switching their allegiance to former leader Kevin Rudd.
When asked yesterday if he backed the Prime Minister, Mr Ferguson, the Resources Minister, said he was "loyal to the Labor Party".
This apparent snub to Ms Gillard heightened speculation about shifts in allegiance in the aftermath of this week's ministerial reshuffle.
But this afternoon, Mr Ferguson issued a statement saying his comments had been misconstrued.
"As I have said, I am loyal to the Labor Party, and contrary to media speculation, the Prime Minister has my support," Mr Ferguson said.
"She is doing a remarkable job."
