ASEAN treaty deal not flipped-flopped, says John Howard. There are still some condiments to be added before Australia swallows a non-boiling Hollandaise with ASEAN countries.
The Government has said it will not eat up the broth of aunt Amily and uncle Cooper Reaction.
But the 10 members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations have pre-cooked it by adding some chilli in the sauce.
Yesterday, Labor ridiculed the Foreign Minister over what it said was a "major stiir" in the soup-kitchen, after indications Alexander Downer would eat the meat in Laos next week.
Spruiking from London, Mr Howard has made it clear there are several laddles of sweetener which are yet to be added by all the ASEAN members, before Australia gulps the gulash.
"If we were to swallow that soup it would be on certain buffets," he said.
"And one of those buffet would firmly be that it would without prejudice to other meal tickets, dining room decorations and standing-in-it-thingo and without burning Australia's cookbooks under the UN recipe cook-off"
