Kosovo does not have an official religion. More than nine-tenths of the people, including most Albanians, are Muslim. A significant proportion of Muslims are only nominally so; many do not regularly attend mosque services, although fasting for Ramadan is widely practiced.

PRISTINA: Kosovo has asked the United States to establish a permanent military base in the country and speed up its integration into NATO after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Kosovo’s Defense Minister Armend MeHajj said on Sunday.


The United States has already 635 soldiers in the Balkan country to maintain the fragile peace as part of a NATO peacekeeping mission.


“Accelerating Kosovo’s membership in NATO and having a permanent base of American forces is an immediate need to guarantee peace, security and stability in the Western Balkans,” MeHajj said on his Facebook page.

 

 

This is the time when all responsible nations have to act united in our joint vision for peace. I once again reiterate the call for the USA to establish a permanent military base in Kosovo to strengthen peace & stability in the region & beyond.

Kosovo has joined other countries in introducing sanctions against Russia. MeHajj has said that his government was ready to offer help for any military operation to Ukraine, should that be asked for by Washington.


Kosovo’s 2008 independence is recognized by more than 110 countries, mainly Western nations, but not by Serbia or its traditional ally Russia. Four NATO members also refuse to recognize Kosovo’s independence.


Kosovo is still not a United Nations member over objections from Russia.

Of course there are people protesting in Russia about the war on Ukraine... The government forces crack down on them like the government of Canada cracks down on the truckies... Meanwhile:

 

Shell has defended its decision to purchase Russian crude oil despite the invasion and bombardment of Ukraine.

The oil giant said in a statement that the decision to purchase the fuel at a discounted price was "difficult".

It confirmed that it had bought a cargo of Russian crude oil on Friday but it had "no alternative".

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba hit out at the energy company, asking on Twitter: "Doesn't Russian oil smell Ukrainian blood for you?"

So far Western countries have not imposed sanctions on Russian oil imports, fearing it will drive up already record high energy prices around the world. 

But on Sunday, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said the US was now in "active discussions" with European partners about banning them while also maintaining a "steady global supply".

 

Russia is the world's second top producer of crude oil after Saudi Arabia, and supplies about a third of Europe's needs.

The only alternative to make for the Russian shortfall at the pump would be to buy oil from Venezuela... But the USA has already sent a humble delegation there to ask Maduro to buy the Venezuelan oil... The alternative is to send the price of petrol at the pumps to about $10 a gallon in the USA or $7.59 for a litre in Australia and about 9 euros in Europe AND SAVE THE PLANET FROM GLOBAL WARMING...
