NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet could reintroduce some COVID-19 restrictions today after the state recorded 38,625 new cases and 11 deaths.

Key points:
  • Today's number of deaths is the highest in the state since October 9
  • The Premier is holding a NSW economic recovery meeting today
  • Another 129 patients have been admitted to hospital for treatment

The Premier is expected to speak later today after he holds a NSW economic recovery meeting — formerly the crisis cabinet meeting.

His office has declined to comment on media reports about plans to reverse COVID-19 restrictions including closing nightclubs and pausing major events.

The state has recorded more infections in the past three days than during the entirety of the Delta outbreak, which ran from June 16 to November 29, when the Omicron strain was first detected.

The number of deaths in the latest reporting period is the highest in the state since October 9.

The NSW government is preparing to announce a major reversal of COVID-19 restrictions by shutting nightclubs, banning singing and dancing in pubs, and pausing major events and some elective surgery in response to the state’s surging Omicron caseload.

The changes were expected to be finalised on Friday after NSW recorded 70,000 coronavirus cases in two days and a significant increase in the number of hospitalised patients, government sources not authorised to speak publicly said on Thursday night.

Perrottet is a little boy lost in the Covid forest, while ScoMo is a clown bully who has told the premiers, that there is no more money available for "JobKeeper"... Thus shutting down the "economy" which was already a ghost of what it should be, was being avoided to prop up its already fake status... But people at large aren't stupid enough to go to public venues, including restaurants and shops, making these business on the way to collapse unless the staff is on JobKeeper... And there is no way to know now if you are infected or not... Go to an emergency hospital waiting room — and you might be kicked out for sneezing in your blue mask...
