why the romans lost the empire...

trio of idiots

More than 100 days after the election the three Turnbull Government frontbenchers with responsibility for the Defence Department are yet to publicly confirm their precise ministerial powers — a stalemate which is causing angst among departmental officials and military companies.

The re-elected Turnbull administration now has three ministers who share Defence responsibilities: Defence Minister Marise Payne, Defence Industry Minister Christopher Pyne and Defence Personnel Minister Dan Tehan, who is also the Veterans' Affairs Minister.

Usually, shortly after ministers are sworn in they are sent a letter by the Prime Minister, formally stating their precise responsibilities, which are then published in a document titled "Administrative Arrangements Order".

However, the most recent version of the Order from September only sets out the duties of the Defence Minister and makes no mention of the newly-created portfolios of Defence Industry and Defence Personnel.

As of Monday evening, the Defence Department website also blandly lists the portfolio responsibilities of the three ministers as still "to be advised".

Some within the Defence establishment blame a "turf war" between the Defence Minister and Defence Industry Minister over control of various areas for the ongoing stalemate.

hypocrisy...

Iraqi Government forces have launched a US-backed offensive to drive the Islamic State (IS) group from the northern city of Mosul, a high-stakes battle to retake the militants' last major stronghold in the country.

Key points:
  • Pentagon says Iraqi forces are ahead of schedule on first day of offensive
  • Onlookers fear the offensive could spark sectarian tensions
  • The battle could make about 1 million more Iraqis homeless, UN says

Two years after the jihadists seized the city of 1.5 million people and declared a caliphate from there encompassing tracts of Iraq and Syria, a force of some 30,000 Iraqi and Kurdish Peshmerga forces and Sunni tribal fighters began to advance.

Helicopters released flares and explosions could be heard on the city's eastern front, where reporters watched Kurdish fighters move forward to take outlying villages.

Obviously some "innocent people" will die in ths attack... But our hypocritical media will prise the attack and call this collateral damage (because it is US organised)... In Aleppo, the government forces are doing the same thing, trying to retake a city that has fallen to terrorists... but our media will blame the Russians (who are supporting the government) for killing innocent people who are mostly supporting terrorists.

No win, anywhere anytime, should you be a sick person, a kid or an old foggie — or even an ordinary person — bombed to smithereens...

hypocrisy used to justfy hypocrisy...

Fourteen members of the same family have been killed in an air strike in rebel-held eastern Aleppo, emergency service workers said, as the Syrian Government pursued its Russian-backed campaign to capture opposition-held areas of the city.

Key points:
  • Observatory says over 400 people have been killed in the latest Syrian-Russian strikes
  • The US accuses Russia, Syria of war crimes while Russia accuses US of abetting terrorists
  • Russia calls for an eight hour 'humanitarian' pause on Thursday

A list of the dead published by the Civil Defence included several infants, among them two six-week old babies and six other children aged eight or below.

What is not mentioned by the western media is that the "rebels" (terrorists) have bombed far more civilians in the government held parts of the city... and that most of the casualties are due to the terrorists (we call them "rebels" to justify our hypocrisy).

overt cronyism...
