sick and tired of lifting the dumbbells...

The Opposition says it is considering not putting out an alternative budget update, after Treasurer Wayne Swan announced $11.5 billion in savings to get the budget back to surplus in 2012-13.

Opposition treasury spokesman Joe Hockey says the Government steals its policies and the Coalition is tired of doing the "heavy lifting".

He says the Government's decision to make cuts to the public service to help make savings is stolen from the Opposition's policy play book.

'Well it's no surprise and we welcome the Government copying us. I wish they'd copy us on everything and then maybe the country would be in better shape," he said.

"Every time we produce cuts the Government steals them, and we're sick of doing the heavy lifting for this incompetent government."

Gus: got news for you Dumbo... Don't flatter yourself... If Swan wants to makes budget cuts, you're not teaching him anything as to where to wield the axe... Your understanding of finance is so poor that there is a hole of 70 billions in your own budgiewoys...

a case of simple arithmetic...

Joe Hockey has today told the Coalition party room that reports about the Opposition’s $70 billion black hole are “complete BS” – despite his colleague Andrew Robb confirming the figure on no less than four occasions.

In relation to the $70 billion figure, Andrew Robb has stated:

"It's no great piece of investigative journalism. It's a case of simple arithmetic."
(ABC AM, 12 August 2011)

“The $70 billion is an estimate of the sort of challenge that we will have.’’
(ABC NewsRadio, 16 August 2011)

“The $70 billion is an indicative figure of the challenge that we’ve got.”
(ABC24, 18 August 2011)

No, it's not a furphy. We came out with the figure, right?’’
(Meet The Press, 4 September 2011)

The figure was originally put into the public arena through minutes from the Opposition’s own budget meetings, leaked to the Seven Network.

Mr Hockey himself told Sunrise the Opposition was looking at a shortfall of “$50, $60 or $70 billion’’ – the figure he now describes as “complete BS”.

This is an economic team that cannot even agree on the most basic economic facts.

meanwhile, at retail central...

HARVEY Norman's executive chairman Gerry Harvey has criticised the government's latest attempt to cut its way to a budget surplus at a time when the majority of local businesses, like the retailer, are struggling.

''I don't quite get this business about 'the budget has to be in surplus by 2013, or 2014', '' he told shareholders at the company's annual meeting yesterday.

''If it makes good sense not to do it, then don't do it,'' he said, adding that ''a big percentage of the businesses in Australia are under stress''.

Well Mister Harvey, should the coalition get in power, you'd be several (70-100) billions poorer plus the workforce — your main customer base — would have their entitlements slashed under new (old) work place agreement (Pork Choices) and other beauties that would make your retailing life a misery...
