schmoozing canberra...

TONGUES are wagging in media and political circles after it emerged that the News Corp boss, Rupert Murdoch, paid a visit to Julia Gillard on Thursday.

Mr Murdoch, who usually has politicians visit him, went to Canberra for a meeting in Ms Gillard's Parliament House office.

Yesterday afternoon, Mr Murdoch met the Opposition Leader, Tony Abbott, in Sydney.

Mr Murdoch's visit represented a potential thaw in relations with Labor, which is at daggers drawn with his newspaper The Australian. Primarily, the visit has been linked to a series of media policy decisions about to be announced.

The World needs the UN to be a reliable and unbiased leader.

The mind boggles!

Murdoch has met with Julia Gillard and Tony Abbott - about what? Since the power mad Zionist had more than most to do with the recent Federal election and its debilitating result, what can this predator want now?

The terror that we should feel is that the general public may be accepting that Murdoch has the power to do what he is doing but, they are becoming complacent about it!  The old politician cop out - "they all do it"? Or could it be "if you can't beat them join them?"

We have all but lost our given rights to facilitate the governance of our own country - a sort of Howard "brown nose" to his benefactors from the US.  Murdoch is the quintessential example of the "Great Dictator" who doesn’t need the complicity of the “elected” government once he has the necessary legislation in place. A lie to protect a lie – to protect a lie – to protect a lie – et al.

Contrary to the original Mark Anthony, Murdoch’s media power doesn’t require him to say “lend me your ears – I come to bury your choices of Kevin Rudd and Julia Gillard” – he just does it.  Ultimately he manipulates the “fortunes” of nations who have allowed him to buy their independence and the dignity of their citizens.

Can any reader of this forum deny that the economic successes of the Federal Labor Government were given the most flattering and expert of compliments in our avoidance of the world financial “meltdown”?  And as Murdoch’s power of persuasion took hold, the people who should have been the most grateful are now receiving Murdoch’s permission to allocate that credit to the Abbott opposition who wanted to allow the recession to cause havoc among the middle to lower classes and give him the opportunity to re-invent the WorkChoices legislation.

And the foreign miners sacked 15% of their workers - our workers - to maintain their profits! Fair dinkum.

If only someone could compile the comprehensive list of successful reforms which the Rudd/Gillard Labor government has created over the last few years for the benefit of ALL Australians.

On balance, there is no doubt that the few short years of the Rudd/Gillard Labor governments lifted the world’s respect for our small nation and the Downer type bullying of the Pacific Islanders was stopped.

Now, the purpose of the Federal Labor Government to move forward but take the people with us is in danger of going back to the bad old days of the Howard “New Order” and their foreign obligations.

Lazarus risen – what godlike arrogance?  NE OUBLIE.

crim-news...

Rupert Murdoch is coming under fire in the UK over his bid to take control of pay TV giant B Sky B and allegations his journalists have been engaging in criminal behaviour.

News Corporation's bid to gain complete control of the pay TV giant is running into growing opposition, not least because of allegations of phone tapping by Murdoch journalists.

On September 9, Labour MP Tom Watson launched a parliamentary attack on Mr Murdoch and his executives at News International.

"They laugh at the law. They sneer at parliament. They have the power to hurt us and they do - with gusto and precision, with joy and criminality," he said.

Mr Watson, a former cabinet office minister, persuaded the commons to launch a new inquiry into phone hacking by Mr Murdoch's Sunday tabloid, News of the World.

And he wants the media mogul to face the allegations.

"Yes, I think Rupert Murdoch is, as the head of News International, responsible for creating the culture in his news organisation that allowed these journalists to go away and feel that they had the right to hack people's phones," he said.

"So yes, he's the boss, he should be responsible for his staff."

Three years ago the paper's royal editor was jailed for paying a private investigator to hack the voicemail of Princes William and Harry.

News International, the British wing of News Corp, has always dismissed the private eye as a rogue reporter.

But in recent months that claim has looked increasingly shaky.

Money is Power - Power corrupts.

When will our government bring back the Cross Media Ownership laws and the Charter of Honesty for the media? I note that the Murdoch disease is prevalent even in the UK where, some centuries ago, the English Monarchy expelled all Jewish peoples due to their undermining of the nation's economy.  How did they do it? By exploiting the weakness of the English people for the value of money.

The thought then becomes a question as to why the majority of obscenely wealthy Banks are in part or totally involved in the Zionist movement of world financial control.

IMHO The history of the wealthy Jew is based on the democratic right of a person to improve their standard in life provided they do not break the law.  The Jewish people in my opinion are consistent in that regard but, while they are prepared to go without during their years of education, they then seem to accumulate wealth, in small amounts at first, but with the express purpose of becoming lenders of money to the most wasteful of all peoples who are the spenders of wealth that they have not earned.

Punters – poker machine addicts – drunks – druggies – and all of those who do not necessarily appreciate the power of money and what they must do to acquire it.

But is it really kosher to take advantage of a people who are in some way or other, less astute than yourself?  What would you do for the sake of profit?

Without being judgemental in the extreme, I have no doubt about the simple analogy of what I have come to believe over research after the Gaza Holocaust.

Does anyone believe that the existence of people like Murdoch and the wealthiest barons in the US can manipulate the fortunes of the rest of the world?

Albert Einstein describes insanity as – “doing the same thing over and over again while expecting different results”.

Power corrupts – absolute power corrupts absolutely.  If the Zionists achieve their illegal purpose, then there will be a nuclear fortress to protect those who would take advantage of the more “laid back” persons.

NE OUBLIE.

the old fox shut himself up to defend the untruth...

Rupert Murdoch pulled his own world exclusive with US president John Kennedy who told him during a White House meeting that Laos was "indefensible" against a communist insurrection in 1961, which went against the publicly stated United States position.

He filed the story for his Sydney paper the Daily Mirror in the last week of election campaign that returned conservative prime minister Robert Menzies in the closest result between Australia's two hung parliaments, in 1941 and this year. Under pressure from Kennedy's press secretary, Mr Murdoch killed the story.

The revelation comes in an interview with Mr Murdoch by former Fairfax executive Max Suich in today's Financial Review (behind a paywall). Officials thought it would have damaged US-Australian relations by noting that the President didn't care who won the election. Mr Murdoch considered it on the record as it wasn't specified as off the record; the President's officials told their Australian counterparts otherwise.

... and catches rabies...

murdochbite

This is not, though, a vitriolic spray at Murdoch and his empire, nor an attack upon the Herald Sun (which must have disappointed a fair few Fairfax staff). This is an engaging, funny, fascinating and sometimes, hard-to-believe tale of Guthrie’s rise from a shack in Broadmeadows, to foreign correspondent and eventually, editor of the Herald Sun. For media boffins, his career trajectory is enviable and inspiring. For anyone who has even a glancing interest in the Australian media – whether you own Newscorp shares or you routinely read the Herald Sun letters over coffee in the morning – this book will keep your eyeballs glued to the pages.

http://lipmag.com/culture/book-review-man-bites-murdoch-by-bruce-guthrie/

Gus: in this book, which in my view barely touches the mechanics of ethics in the news business (— a heap of News Corp editors laughed their heads off at Guthrie when he mentioned "ethics in journalism" at a meeting —) the last few paragraphs are sadly telling, especially on Laurie Oakes' acknowledgement of the role that politics can play in someone's news-career by observing that: "better to get the job right and the politics wrong rather than the other way around. I've know a lot of people who get it back to front."... To Gus, that is the saddest quote ever showing Mr Bibendum himself  — cunning, "balanced' (porkies/truth 50/50) but with little understanding of the damage promoting wrong politics can do, and reflecting on the illusions of selling news for the purpose of selling slanted profitable news rather than promote a decent progressive necessary point of view. Murdoch supports the warmongers, the ruthless, the opportunists (sociopath) and the rich... But he and his acolytes do it by conning the commonest denominator public at large that it is the only way to create a betterment for all. That is the cleverest trick of all...
In the end, biting Murdoch was mostly profitable to Guthrie — and it did not affect Murdoch much. Meanwhile Guthrie would have to watch his back from now on till the day he is placed in a pine box... The rest of us still catch rabies from Mr Murdoch.

I believe Uncle Rupe dishonored the memory of his father Keith who without fear and favour revealed the true debacle that Gallipoli was — a massive cock-up now used to glorify more cock-ups...

Of course Rupert Murdoch was (is) at the despicable front line to glorify the cock-ups of G. W. Bush, the Blair and the Howard in their lies against Saddam...

As we all know, Uncle Rupe learned all about gambling from one of his grandfathers...

So Mr Oakes why not get the "job right and the politics right" at all time?...

best outcome for the clubs...

Australia's football codes are the winners in new changes to rules covering sports broadcasting.

Coming at the end of the parliamentary year, the Federal Government has unveiled a long awaited new list of the major sporting events that will be shown on free-to-air TV.

In doing so, the Government's anti-siphoning list has created a two-tiered system.

Tier A covers nationally iconic events such as the Melbourne Cup and football finals, which must be shown live and in-full on free-to-air TV.

Tier B events, such as regular football games, can be delayed and shown on free-to-air digital channels.

NRL chief executive David Gallop says more football games have been opened up for fans to buy and watch on pay TV.

"[Thursday's] decision more closely reflects what people actually watch but, importantly, it takes away the constraints on our ability to negotiate the best outcome for the clubs, the players and the fans," he said.

AFL chief operating officer Gillon McLachlan says the anti-siphoning list is great news for sports fans.
