returning to brutopia .....

returning to brutopia .....

We need to talk about Kevin. Not the homicidal sociopath of Lionel Shriver's grisly best-selling novel, but the Kevin who, until a few weeks ago, was the most popular prime minister of all time.

The fall has been spectacular. Flying too close to the sun, the wax in the wings melted and Icarus plummeted to earth. So contemporary wisdom would have it.

Yet there is rather more to it than that. In the past 18 months there has been a relentless media campaign to destroy the Rudd government, the most savage onslaught upon a federal Labor administration since the Whitlam years.

Naturally, this has been led by the forces of darkness at News Ltd. The Murdoch gorilla threw itself into the demolition of Gordon Brown's Labour Party in Britain. It seeks to wreck the Obama presidency in the United States. Here, it battles for the return of a Tory Brutopia to Canberra.

And as ever, the hyenas of talkback radio are howling at the front of the pack. No need to name the usual suspects, although Ray Hadley's near-hysterical interview with Wayne Swan on 2GB a few weeks ago hit a new low in the genre.

This media offensive has surged since the hard men of the Liberal Party right finally emerged from their post-election coma, ditched the ineffectual Brendan Nelson, then the crazy brave Malcolm Turnbull, and hoisted one of their own into the leadership. Suddenly it was all Speedos and hairy chests.

Mike Carlton

Please remember - we don't Elect the media barons.

Sensationalism and misinformation made Murdoch's billions - and nothing has changed.

Mike Carlton's article above is in language that all Australians should heed and accept a.s.a.p.  Once the Murdochracy in every Capital city of Australia takes the initiative of a person like the Mad Monk, and achieves traction, there is very little truth left to read, hear or see.

I have no doubt that Murdoch himself would have an "Israeli" passport along with his American and Australian.  There is nothing Australian about Murdoch or any of his gutless Editors and journalists whose honesty is doubtful in everything they do. They are part of a powerful and un-Australian foreign ownership which is not in our National Interests - and should be treated as such.

Our Prime Minister (the Australian People's choice - not the Corporation's) is facing the same blistering abuse of voter's gullibility since the Whitlam years. The example of what happens with monopolies, cartels and corrupt Corporations, especially in "informing" the public, is more evident to all in this exhibition of Character Assassination of a popular Australian Prime Minister.

While the traitorous "Howard ABC" continues to embarrass the taxpayers they claim to represent, and the other forms of the media continue their corrupt presentation of the real feelings of the real people, some TV news gets through somehow to show how popular Kevin Rudd is with the Australian families “on the ground".  Hence the reason that our Prime Minister is forced to go to the local media owners for a chance to have his message heard.  The real heart of the Australian public.

Unquestionably, the Australian people were the beneficiaries of the Rudd government's stimulus package which saved our economy from falling into recession.  Rudd; Swan; and Tanner were virtual heroes of the time but - what happened?

Would you believe that shonky business operators caused a tragic failure to the "insulation" plan and Rudd took the blame?  But no kudos for doing so.

Would you believe that while the Howard plan for solar panels caused some fires, nothing was mentioned in the press that I read?  Yet, when it happened on Rudd's watch, he took responsibility.  No kudos.

I would suggest to voters that these "the buck stops with me" attitudes of Kevin Rudd are commensurate with his promise to the Australian people.  No kudos there either.

The actions of the Rudd government since its election has been to "mend and revive" the absence of responsible duty of care of the "blameless" Howard "New Order".  All Howard and his minions had to do was to cater to the foreign owned media and the other powers that be, and he had almost twelve years - to do nothing.

At the helm of our nation (at the moment) is a government of the people which has excelled itself in economic management to the extent that all major judges in the world have listed us as the only country avoiding recession and returning an increase in productivity.  Indeed an actual portrait of Whitlam's Lucky Country?

I sincerely hope that after some 35 years, the Australian people have come to realize that we are giving up our right to elect a government when our choices are unfairly influenced by the abuse of information - especially by foreign profiteers.

Just consider the corruption and similar activities of News Ltd. and then read the tripe that their journalists foist upon us.

It is just as important for us to know WHO is advising us, as it is to BELIEVE IT OR NOT.

Would you buy a second hand car from Tony Abbott?

God Bless Australia and maintain our currently Lucky Country.  NE OUBLIE.

Once upon a time people had no bread.

I would have to guess but, I cannot remember any Australian Prime Minister who was forced, by foreign profiteering forces, to go virtually underground to have his message related to the people he represents.

It gives me a feeling of being robbed - robbed of my right to know the truth about everything that happens in my country.  Otherwise, how can I make an informed decision IF I am not truthfully informed?

Murdoch and his cronies have made this election a war, and the first thing in war is - the loss of truth?

It was no coincidence that in 2007 there was a leak that Murdoch had met with Howard and implied that "he had enjoyed his time" or words to that effect.  In addition, he met with Kevin Rudd who I speculated at that time would ask for a "fair go".

The Corporation's government, for the Corporations and by the Corporations was soundly defeated.

Now, after a "breathing spell" of some three years, (shades of the Whitlam years) we are threatened with a destructive and dishonest Liberal party rabble with a leader who has no idea of governing.  Fair dinkum.

But the big issue for Australians to consider is WHO was powerful enough to make a "silk purse out of a sow's ear" - as my Mother used to say. Who could have believed that the Abbott photographed throwing a careless right hand at an opponent whose "address" tells me he could have easily flattened the Julie Bishop hero with just a few short jabs.  At least the contender looked like he knew what he was doing.

Kevin Rudd has a wealth of experience in politics and has behaved with Statesman like skills for several years.  Why don't the people he so passionately represents give him even the benefit of the doubt?

Would you be sure of anything Tony Abbott says? With his record?  Of course not - so?  WHO is powerful enough to convince (not influence) you to accept him?

Kevin Rudd is communicating with the working families of Australia and is governing in the manner that he has promised.  He has had to deal with a stupid and incompetent obstructive Senate and a media that doesn't want his policies to succeed even though they have not been truthfully reported to the public.  Their excuse is that he lacks "salesman skills".  Struth.

Try to picture the situation in which Australia finds itself.  A Prime Minister whose tenure in office is not completed, being confronted by an all powerful foreign media to the extent that our elected government has to go to ground to ensure that the people’s people have a fair go.

When it comes to Murdoch - to what country does he pledge his allegiance?  Think about it.

God Bless Australia and sustain our "Lucky Country".  NE OUBLIE.

Every Australian should be proud of our Federal Government.

It genuinely hurts me to see how the foreign media has character assassinated Kevin Rudd.  Let's just look at that fact and try to analyse why.

This is a man who has enormous experience in foreign diplomacy; economics and statesmanship. We are lucky to have him.  It is easily forgotten that HE was the reason that Australians woke up to the Corporation's tenure in government and should be terminated before all public assets were finally sold.

So the media says he is not a "seller of his policies". All of them, even Michelle Gratten. Step back and look at that opinion and consider the calm and confident attitude of Kevin Rudd; Julia Gillard; Wayne Swan Lindsay Tanner; Chris Bowen; Nicola Roxon; and all front benchers in the Labor Federal Government.

Imagine that you believe that the best for your life is inexorably tied to the welfare of your country - and super-impose Tony Abbott on Kevin Rudd.  Are you fair dinkum?  Julie Bishop; Bromwyn Bishop; Dutton (with mining shares) Jolly Joe; the mincing poodle and the need for us to "insulate" our future from Corporation lobbyists.

One of the most famous statements from Jolly Joe Hockey was when he said "technology is the best friend of privacy".  Fair dinkum.

Joe is a likeable man and I also believe that he tries to be what the people want him to be.  He was at least loyal to his leader, irrespective of the executioners.  He sat and listened to Malcolm Turnbull's retirement speech and for this - I respect him as a man - but sorry, not as a capable treasurer.  His attempt at honesty is diametrically opposed to the policies of the conservatives.

I will watch with interest when Joe gives his party's budget reply so disgracefully lumped on him by a person like Tony Abbott who sees this election as a no lose situation.  All he is doing is destabilising the country he has sworn to serve.

Imagine a lion tamer who is faced by several unknown lions and is expected to tame them.  How can Kevin Rudd calm the foreign media frenzy?  Kevin Rudd is Australian - more over he is a Queenslander.

God Bless Australia and may the Australian people remember that they are Australian. NE OUBLIE.

Why believe the media?

Government Semantics And Stupid Americans

By Timothy V. Gatto

The words bandied about by the government and the U.S. media surely must give those of us that can still think for ourselves a great deal of pause. It appears that just about everyone that opposes U.S. intervention in any country becomes an “ insurgent”. Those that actually attack our troops in foreign countries automatically become “terrorists” . It doesn't matter what pretext we storm into a country with U.S. troops with, those that oppose us are automatically dumped in the same category.

This is a deliberate attempt by the U.S. government, with mainstream media help, to frame the conflicts we find ourselves in. Just like in a debate we frame our ideas and opinions to score points with the judges and to back our opponents into a tightly weaved box. Our government does the same thing with describing those that differ with them. Rome described all peoples that didn't belong to the Roman Empire as “barbarians”. America seems to have learned this lesson well. It worked so well for Rome, many people to this day believe that these civilizations, even those that were well advanced, were barbarians. Language is that powerful.

There is another mantra that is bandied about in this country and that is the phrase that “Our soldiers are fighting overseas for our freedom”. Unfortunately, nothing could be further from the truth. The fighting in Afghanistan and Iraq has absolutely nothing to do with our freedoms. In fact, the exact opposite is true. As we prosecute this contrived “War on terror” we see our freedoms under The Bill of Rights constantly under attack and are eroding before our very eyes. In the name of “fighting the war on terror” we see our e-mails and telephones subject to governmental examination in violation of the First Amendment.

Americans had hoped that Obama would have rescinded many of the more oppressive laws that the Bush administration had put in place. Unfortunately this didn't turn out to be the case. The Obama administration is in the process of reconvening the Military Commission trials and holding “enemy combatants” in violation of the Geneva Convention as “enemy combatants” even though many of these folks were sold to American forces for a bounty by their countrymen to the U.S. and have no ties to those that attack our forces.

This “War on terror” is a huge scam. It seems that when the polls start showing that the American people are beginning to tire of paying over a trillion dollars a year for defense, and while they tire of seeing American soldiers come back in body bags, there is another “Terrorist” plot uncovered in America. I sincerely have my doubts on the veracity of these so-called “attacks”. It seems to me that they are always a fortuitous thing for the administration as to when they surface. Call me paranoid but how many times have these plots arrived right on time?

I don't want to ring any alarm bells here, but I believe that since I saw it with my own eyes I should report it. Months ago I read an article with photographs of modular prison cells on a train somewhere in Utah. I have no idea what these prison cells are going to be used for and I don't want to speculate. What I saw in Mauldin, South Carolina yesterday alarmed me however. There on a railroad siding was about fifty of these “modular prison cells” on flatbeds.

I'd just like to end this by saying that it is probably in your best interests to understand how the media and the government uses semantics and how they describe things. These are age old ways of influencing the population to support military adventures from time immemorial. Read between the lines and think for yourselves. There can't be millions of “terrorists” that spawned in the last five years. “Insurgents” more than likely are people that want foreign troops out of their country. We were “insurgents” in the Revolutionary War. Many of us did not wear uniforms either. The Continental Army could barely afford uniforms. The people of Iraq and Afghanistan don't have a “uniform” budget, so I guess this means that they are not covered by the Geneva Conventions.

COMMENT: Several US Presidents warned against these probable events.  But the Corporations, developed specifically for war have taken control of the US economy to the point where Wall Street's greed and dishonesty has put the world economic balance in jeopardy.

And now, a stable and successful Australian Government - who were roundly denigrated for avoiding the financial meltdown - is being challenged by the very people who caused the meldown!!! Struth.

God Bless Australians and their ability to think; reason and be logical.  NE OUBLIE.
