To paraphrase Al Pacino in "Godfather III," just when we thought we were out, the Bush mob keeps pulling us back in. And will keep doing so. No matter how hard President Obama tries to turn the page on the previous administration, he can't.

Until there is true transparency and true accountability, revelations of that unresolved eight-year nightmare will keep raining down drip by drip, disrupting the new administration's high ambitions.

That's why the president's flip-flop on the release of detainee abuse photos - whatever his motivation - is a fool's errand. The pictures will eventually emerge anyway, either because of leaks (if they haven't started already) or because the federal appeals court decision upholding their release remains in force. And here's a bet: These images will not prove the most shocking evidence of Bush administration sins still to come.

There are many dots yet to be connected, and not just on torture. This Sunday, GQ magazine is posting on its Web site an article adding new details to the ample dossier on how Donald Rumsfeld's corrupt and incompetent Defense Department cost American lives and compromised national security. The piece is not the work of a partisan but the Texan journalist Robert Draper, author of "Dead Certain," the 2007 Bush biography that had the blessing (and cooperation) of the former president and his top brass. It draws on interviews with more than a dozen high-level Bush loyalists.

Is the Zionist suggestion of peace a diversion?

The almost universal dislike and even deep resentment to the Jewish people (which they themselves claim) over many centuries cannot be without some foundation.  Fair dinkum.

 

The Christians are opposed to blasphemy but – their suggested punishment is - in their God’s hands. A compassionate and forgiving God? And the great majority of so many different beliefs are equally pacifist?

 

The Muslims have their centuries old beliefs which have survived Crusades and occupations – but their faith is in an ancient doctrine whose only problem seems to be mainly the difference between men and women.  Forget “corporal” punishment – in my time I achieved several cuts of the cane very often – sometimes for looking over the dividing wall between the boys and the girls. And it was natural.

 

I cannot help but believe – during a research which is sometimes blurred by the influence of the history “re-writers” - that there is nothing special about the Hebrews of recorded time other than their insistence of their God-given right to Gold-n-Power and by the Prophets of their beliefs – which is no different in faith than the “Prophets” of many other religions.

 

I do not believe the several visions and convenient advise of Yahweh talking to the Prophets of the Hebrews any more than I believe the creation of humanity with Adam and Eve.

 

What I would like to concentrate on would be the false claim of “innocence” which is the backbone of the Hebrew argument that they do not receive (as we Australians would call it) a fair go.  If that were true, even in part, they would not exist and certainly not with the power they currently exploit.

 

IMHO I have never been so motivated regarding a clearly demonstrable injustice that is so obviously against all the “marketing standards of democracy” that the US must now take total responsibility for.
