godot in hegseth deo at the pentagon......
The Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF) has announced plans to launch a probe into a new religious affairs office recently unveiled by US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth. The Wisconsin-based nonprofit said on Thursday that it is seeking transparency into the office’s funding, operations and plans to assess troops’ “spiritual fitness.” The announcement came shortly after Hegseth said the Pentagon was establishing the Office of Religious Affairs (ORA) to address what he described as a decline in religious community in the military following an era of “political correctness.” In his State of the Force address on Wednesday at Marine Corps Base Quantico in Virginia, Hegseth said the new office’s head is expected to serve as the secretary and deputy secretary’s chief adviser on religious affairs. Hegseth argued that the military had previously prioritized “political correctness and secular humanism” over religion, with “secular careerists in cubicles and lawyers running around with red tape” overseeing service members’ spiritual lives instead of military chaplains. According to the memorandum signed by the secretary earlier this week, the office is tasked with aligning religious-affairs policy, overseeing the Armed Forces Chaplains Board, representing the department to civilian religious endorsing organizations, and sponsoring research and tools to “support and assess spiritual fitness, spiritual readiness, and spiritual resilience.” The FFRF said it will use the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), which allows the public to request records from US government agencies, to seek documents on the office’s funding, budget and staffing. The group also wants records on how the Pentagon defines and plans to assess “spiritual fitness,” “spiritual readiness” and “spiritual resilience,” including any technologies or tools being considered. The requests will also cover ties to outside religious groups and records concerning atheist, humanist and other nonreligious service members and potential First Amendment issues. Americans United for Separation of Church and State President and CEO Rachel Laser said Hegseth’s new office would elevate Christianity’s role in shaping US military policy. She also accused him of using his position to advance what she described as a “Christian Nationalist agenda” in the military. Hegseth’s personal Christian beliefs have previously drawn media attention, with some analysis arguing that they are increasingly influencing US military policy. In March, The Washington Post cited former senior military officials and experts on religion and law as saying that Hegseth’s religious policies had challenged longstanding norms limiting the promotion of a particular faith. The war secretary reportedly held monthly evangelical services at the Pentagon at the time, while department employees were reluctant to discuss concerns related to his religious campaign. Earlier this year, the Pentagon, at Hegseth’s initiative, cut the number of recognized religious denominations and belief systems for service members from 211 to 31. The department’s latest official breakdown from 2019 shows that about 70% of active-duty service members identified as Christian, 2% as atheist or agnostic, and 24% as having no religious affiliation or an unknown religious affiliation. https://www.rt.com/news/646676-pentagon-hegseth-religious-watchdog-probe/

US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth claimed that Washington now controls the Strait of Hormuz and can maintain its blockade for as long as necessary, while warning Iran that further confrontation could come “the hard way.”
“They don’t control it. We do. They have literally gotten nothing through. Our blockade has been ironclad,” Hegseth told reporters.
He went further, claiming the United States “dominate[s]” the strategic waterway “in both an asymmetric and a conventional sense,” while dismissing Iran’s naval, air and surveillance capabilities.
Hegseth also insisted that shipping throughput was running “almost at pre-war levels” and portrayed the US position around the strait as overwhelmingly strong.
Independent shipping data, however, present a more complicated picture.
Crude exports from the Gulf have recovered substantially in recent months, but producers have increasingly relied on alternative pipelines and ship-to-ship transfers outside the strait. Refined-product shipments remain sharply below pre-war volumes, with diesel and other fuel flows particularly constrained.
Hegseth nevertheless suggested Washington was prepared to keep the blockade in place indefinitely.
“We can hold it as long as we need to. Trust me, we can adapt that as necessary,” he said.
The US official also threatened further action if Tehran refused Washington’s demands, saying Iran could face “the hard way.”
Iran has disputed US claims that Washington exercises uncontested control over the Strait of Hormuz and maintains that it retains significant leverage over the strategic waterway.
The confrontation comes more than six months after the US-Israeli war against Iran began, despite repeated earlier suggestions from the Trump administration that the conflict could be resolved quickly.
