Chaser song despicable: PM …..

Prime Minister John Howard has labelled as "distasteful" and "despicable" a song by the ABC's Chaser comedy team that attacks famous dead Australians including Sir Donald Bradman and Steve Irwin.

The Eulogy Song, which criticises the way deceased celebrities were "eulogised" by the public, was performed by Chaser cast member Andrew Hansen on ABC TV last night.

It refers to radio host Stan Zemanek as a xenophobic racist jock "whose views were more malignant than his brain", and labels Kerry Packer a "tax cheat" and cricketer Sir Donald Bradman a "total farce" and a "grump".

Irwin is described as "a cartoon kamikaze, who taunted crocs and tots so frequently".

Mr Howard said the song was "distasteful stuff", and that such remarks about people like Steve Irwin and Sir Donald Bradman were "despicable".

"Why don't they stick to decent dirt-free humour?" Mr Howard said.

Campaigning in Adelaide, Opposition Leader Kevin Rudd also slammed the song.

"I have said before that I have enjoyed the Chaser's work but I would say to those guys at the Chaser this is absolutely disgusting," Mr Rudd said.

Gus; Distasteful disgusting brilliant stuff....

white rabbits

The Chaser team has been told to "pick on someone who's alive" as the team was trying to pick on the PM himself. Hummm...

The members of the Chaser team were offering themselves as rabbits to be pulled out of a hat...  Is the reply from the PM, a strong indication he's not alive in the morning sun? His foray in Iraq to support his mate plunder the oil, should be enough to make sure he goes-goes-goes... He may know that...

"I must say, we have considered ourselves - in the last couple of years - basically in competition with Today Tonight in terms of the funniest show on television.
