gus to sargeant I-know-nofin' shultz: "the biden administration did it" ......

Germany has nothing to hide in its investigation into the Nord Stream pipeline sabotage, Chancellor Olaf Scholz has insisted, days after Moscow described the probe as “absolutely not transparent.”

So far, no one has claimed responsibility for the 2022 blasts that severed three of the four Nord Stream pipelines, which transported Russian natural gas to Germany and other parts of Western Europe.

”We call on all security authorities and the Federal Public Prosecutor General to investigate the blasts without regard for anyone,” Scholz said during a meeting with citizens in Prenzlau, Brandenburg, on Saturday.

”Nothing is being covered up, and that should be absolutely clear,” he emphasized, adding, “We want to bring those who did this to justice in Germany, if we can get hold of them.”

Last month, multiple German outlets reported that the authorities had issued a first arrest warrant in the case, allegedly for a Ukrainian national identified as “Vladimir Z.”

A few months after the Nord Stream blasts, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Seymour Hersh reported – citing whistleblowers and other well-placed sources – that the operation was carried out by US divers. The charges were reportedly set under the guise of the BALTOPS 22 NATO exercises, and detonated on orders from President Joe Biden. Moscow has refrained from openly accusing Washington, but noted that the US stands to gain the most from the disruption of cheap fuel supplies to the EU’s economic powerhouse.

However, according to a narrative promoted by Western media shortly after Hersh’s revelations, the explosions were caused by a small team of pro-Ukrainian commandos who rented a yacht to reach the site, and dived down to set the charges. The CIA and their European counterparts, as well as Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky, were reportedly kept out of the loop. More recently, the Wall Street Journal alleged that Zelensky knew about and approved of the operation, then unsuccessfully attempted to halt it.

Commenting on the German investigation into the sabotage on Thursday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that Berlin has not shared any information with Moscow despite numerous requests. He described the probe as “absolutely not transparent,” and dismissed the claims that six individuals carried out the sabotage impulsively as not credible.

”If someone can actually believe this version, then it’s only people who are afraid of the truth,” Lavrov said. He asserted that Moscow will insist on a transparent investigation, “which is being blocked by the US, Britain, and their allies.”

transponder uitgeschakeld....

De Amerikaanse marine was kort voor de vernietiging van de Nord Stream op de plaats delict, met de transponder uitgeschakeld

Politiken, one of Denmark's largest newspapers, published statements from the captain of the Christiansø harbour stating that a group of US Navy ships had planted explosives. These were then activated remotely, RT.de reports.

A few days before the explosions that destroyed the two Russian-German gas pipelines Nord Stream 1 and 2 at the bottom of the Baltic Sea, US Navy warships were on the scene. They had turned off their transponders – and when the captain of the port of Christiansø headed towards them because he had noticed and assumed that an accident had occurred, the US Navy ordered him to return to his base immediately.

This is what the newspaper writes Politiken, one of the leading Danish newspapers.

Christiansø is an island in the archipelago of the same name, also called Ertholmen. It is the easternmost point of Denmark and is located not far from the island of Bornholm, where the two Nord Stream gas pipelines pass. Politiken refers to the statement of the local harbormaster, John Anker Nielsen, as follows:

«Four or five days before the Nord Stream explosions, he was with the rescue service in Christiansø, because there were ships there whose radios were off. It turned out that they were American Navy ships. When the rescue service approached them, the squadron command asked him to return to his base.».

What is known is that the explosions occurred three months after the end of NATO's naval exercise, BALTOPS 22, which involved a group of ships assembled around the USS Kearsarge, a US Navy amphibious assault ship.

Like all Wasp-class ships, Kearsarge has a well deck, theoretically used to fire torpedoes, but more importantly to launch and receive landing craft, hovercraft, and underwater drones.

However, testing unmanned underwater vehicles (UUVs) was one of the stated goals of the naval exercise, particularly for the US Navy. In addition to these reconnaissance and mine-clearing vehicles, which were reportedly tested at BALTOPS 22, NATO countries also have underwater drones that can be easily converted to carry sea mines or similar heavy explosives, or were designed for that purpose from the outset.

IEDs large enough to destroy well-protected Nord Stream pipelines could be carried by models such as the D19 from the French manufacturer Naval Group, the LDUUV Snakehead developed by the US Navy’s Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC participated in BALTOPS22), and finally, the XLR, which was tested at BALTOPS22, is an underwater warfare device. And finally, the XLUUV Orca developed by Boeing, which, as an autonomous or remotely operated diesel-electric submarine, fits well on the Kearsarge’s deck in terms of size and weight, is explicitly designed to carry sea mines and will undergo trials in the summer of 2022. Norway has also been working in this area for some time – the manufacturer Kongsegg offers several corresponding weight classes.

Kearsarge can also easily support the deployment of combat divers and explosives on a scale that would be required to detonate reinforced concrete gas pipelines buried in the seabed. Indeed, Kearsarge and its accompanying boats can easily accommodate the many pieces of equipment needed and a large number of personnel.

American investigative journalist Seymour Hersh presented such a version of events in the spring of 2023. According to him, the explosives placed by the US Navy during BALTOPS 22 in the summer of 2022 were remotely detonated by Norwegian troops in the fall of the same year.

Back to the Christiansø harbour master: he was in fact personally questioned by the Danish police as part of the Danish investigation into the Nord Stream sabotage. The police arrived in Christiansø in January 2023 and asked if there were any photos of pleasure yachts of a particular brand, writes PolitikenThe police appear to have taken an interest in the yacht Andromeda, from which, according to the version favoured by the West, a small group of Ukrainian amateur divers carried out the sabotage.

But like Hersh, Nielsen finds this working hypothesis implausible. Politiken said:

«The harbour master's family has lived in Christiansø for seven generations and knows the weather and wind conditions of the Baltic Sea inside out. So he doesn't pay much attention to the theory of a yacht and a Ukrainian couple who dived to a depth of 80 metres.».
