Trump to hold first NY rally since 2016, weeks after massive Jersey Shore gathering

Former President Donald Trump will hold a campaign rally in the South Bronx next week, and his first major gathering of supporters in his native state since his first White House bid comes on the heels of a record-breaking event at the Jersey Shore.

The May 23 rally will take place at 6 p.m. in Crotona Park, and the Trump campaign has a permit for up to 3,500 people to attend, his campaign announced Friday.

Trump, 77, is expected to speak on the Empire State’s economy, crime rate and migrant crisis. It’s his first rally in his birth state since Buffalo in 2016.

“President Trump will ease the financial pressures placed on households and re-establish law and order in New York!”

The Trump campaign highlighted double-digit percentage point increases in murder and assault rates in New York since 2019, and a surge in the cost of goods in the state since Biden, 81, took office.

“We can Make America Great Again by tackling lawlessness head-on, ceasing the endless flow of illegal immigrants across our southern border, and reversing the detrimental effects of inflation by restoring people’s wealth,” the statement concluded.

Trump, a native New Yorker who officially moved to his Florida Mar-a-Lago resort in 2019, has frequently been in Manhattan of late as he stands trial over alleged hush-money payments made to porn star Stormy Daniels.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams has announced a special conference dubbed the National Urban Rat Summit, which will be held in September to address the spiraling problem with rodent pests plaguing the metropolis. 

The announcement comes one month after the city’s health authorities recorded a significant rise in cases of human leptospirosis — a disease caused by contact with the urine of animals, particularly rats.  

NYC has recorded one of the highest populations of brown rats in the US, with experts estimating that there were approximately three million of them living in the city as of August 2023.  

In a press release last week, Adams argued that “the best way to defeat our enemy is to know our enemy” and that for this purpose, the inaugural summit will gather the leading rat specialists from Boston, New Orleans, and Seattle to “better understand urban rats and how to manage their populations.” 

“New Yorkers may not know this about me – but I hate rats, and I’m confident most of our city’s residents do as well,” Adams said. “With rat sightings down nearly 14% in our city’s Rat Mitigation Zones year over year, we continue to make progress, but we’re not stopping there.” 

Kathleen Corradi, NYC’s first ever director of rodent mitigations, or “rat czar,” added that the city is “proud”to host the event and obtain a deeper understanding of how to battle the issue. She noted that “despite being our closest urban counterparts, there is surprisingly limited research on urban rats and their management.” 

Last month, the New York City Council also introduced a bill that would require the Health Department to use salty pellets to sterilize both male and female rats in two neighborhoods as part of a pilot program.

There has been an unprecedented effort to destroy Donald Trump rather than defeat him at the polls. Those concerned about democracy being in danger need only look at the list of efforts to destroy him which began before his first election, continued with gusto and anger during his term, and the lawfare episodes which followed Trump’s departure from office.

All of this is unprecedented in American politics (albeit all too common in third-world politics) and itself threatening. Trump almost seems to grow stronger with controversy, but what “normal” candidate would want to run for president knowing they would be exposed to such efforts not just to beat them with votes but to crush them as human beings? With apologies to Billy Joel’s “We Didn’t Start the Fire,” let’s take a look back. In no particular order:

The take-away from all this is how much of the effort to destroy Trump would not have been possible without the active participation of the mainstream media. Even leaving aside Democratic and deep state propaganda organs like MSNBC, the list above shows much more than “collusion” between the Democrats and the media; it shows participation. None of the hoaxes, from the massive effort expended on the Russia story to the almost silly tirades when Trump uses a word like “bloodbath,” would have been possible without the active participation of the media in promoting and shouting out the “story.”

Perhaps the most compact example would be the 51 former intelligence officials claiming Hunter Biden's laptop looked like Russian disinformation. The group put out a press release but it took a triple punch to make it effective in the 2020 campaign. Punch one was the media dissemination without verification of the accusations. Punch two was Twitter in particular and the rest of the media in general deep-sixing the laptop story and failing even to lift a finger in investigation. Punch three was Biden repeating the accusations as fact in one of his debates with Trump. How could he lose?

He didn’t. And that is the real takeaway here, the need to remain ever-vigilant against the misinformation machinations of the deep state, the Dems, and the media as we edge closer to the presidential election this November.
