bibi's kidocide.....

Israel’s war on Gaza is a war on children, a war on their childhood and a war on their future. Children are dying at an alarming rate from malnutrition and dehydration and doctors are no longer seeing normal-sized babies.

On the first Friday in Ramadan this year 36 members of the Tabatbi family were killed by an Israeli air strike that bombed a 4-story building in the al Nusairat refugee camp, in central Gaza. Most of the killed were women and children. Just another terrible statistic of murder by Israel with America bombs, an entire family slaughtered and family history, memories and life extinguished, just like that.

A war on children: Gaza doctors no longer see normal-sized babies    By Helen McCue

With absolute brutal impunity Israel continues to kill thousands of children in Gaza and the West bank. UNRWAs Director Philippi Lazzarini has stated that in four months more Palestinian children have been killed by the IDF than children killed in all the wars across the world in the last four years. It is hard to believe that civilised Israeli citizens are proud of that statistic, but a staggering 75% apparently think the war should continue, killing even more children. What sort of democracy is that??

They are not only bombing and killing large numbers of children but are killing their fathers, brothers and uncles and, with the support of Israeli citizens, trucks carry much needed food aid are stopped from entering Gaza, from both the south and the north. Even food aid from the World Food Program was stopped on Gaza’s northern border by the IDF. And they continue to shoot at Palestinians especially in central and northern Gaza as they desperately try to get food from small trucks in the night.

Let’s just look at how often starving people have been deliberately killed and injured by the IDF over the past five months as they desperately waited for or went to get food:

March 14    80 persons at least have been killed and around 200 wounded at the Kuwaiti Roundabout in Gaza city.

March 3    9 persons were killed in the Deir el Balah area

February 29    112 person were killed and hundreds were wounded in south west Gaza in what has been called the “Flour Massacre”

February 26    10 were killed in Gaza City

January 25    20 persons at least were killed in Gaza City

December 29    The IDF fired on an aid convoy as it returned from northern Gaza on a designated “safe” route

November 7     The ICRC convoy came under attack.

It is commendable that the Australian Government has “unpaused” aid to UNRWA and made other important contributions to the aid program for Gaza. But by allowing Israel through the IDF to continue to block food aid, to kill innocent starving civilians desperately seeking food aid, to kill yet more UNRWA staff and destroy important food and other necessary items in storage, Australia has still not done enough. Soft words such as condemning the excessive killing and calling for a ceasefire are just not enough. Australia continues to support Israel through political and moral support and through their silence on this barbarity.

As doctors and aid workers enter Gaza they repeat that every person they met including doctors and nurses are starving. The children are excessively thin and are now skin and bone. It is very hard for parents to see their children starving to death and its very abnormal and disturbing to hear children say that they want to die, they can’t live in such as situation.

Dominic Allen, a UN Population Fund Palestine representative, visiting Gaza’s Emirati Hospital’s maternity ward said that “The doctors are reporting that they no longer see normal-sized babies. “What they do see though tragically is more stillborn babies and more neonatal deaths.” Conditions in Gaza were beyond catastrophic he reported and noted the widespread hunger and emaciation among the population.
UN experts have reported Friday that children in Gaza lacking food and safe water are facing life-threatening malnutrition. “About one in every 20 children in northern Gaza is experiencing “severe wasting,” the most critical sign of malnutrition”, according to UNICEF. And Save the Children’s chief executive in the US, Janti Soeripto, described the situation in Gaza as the worst in the world for children, with conditions worsening each week.
Seeing thousands of trucks lined up to enter Gaza while inside children are dying is truly horrific and experienced international aid workers are saying that they have never in all their experience witnessed such a horrific situation. Gazan’s are dying from infections as there is not enough antibiotics and they are dying of diarrhoea related illnesses as there is not enough clean water available as Israel controls that too. Dr Fozia Alvi a Canadan who was in Gaza recently and who has worked in many crisis situations such as flooding and earthquakes said that this is the worst human catastrophe she has ever witnessed.

While a trickle of food aid is being bought in, some via Australian parachutes, neither the USA, the EU and most of the Western Nations including Australia will exert the necessary political and moral pressure on Israel to stop the killing and allow, as the UN and all aid workers request, that the land borders be opened to enable hundreds of trucks of much needed food aid in by road. There is something deeply sickening and shocking about the US stance that sends bombs to kill innocent civilians and then drops food air from the sky.

Does President Biden really think that the Arab and Muslim communities in America are going to thank him for these pathetic efforts at saving them from starvation? Australia will not be immune either as the ABC online article Mon 11 Mar 2024 noted “The Israel-Hamas war is influencing Australian politics [too] as Muslim and Arab voters question Labor’s response” to the war in Gaza. And as in the US election process taking place now the ABC noted “ . . . the idea that the electoral territory is all stitched up is deluded according to some of the hard heads in the party. Some fear the threat of a community independent is real.” And that threat is not only coming from Arab and Muslim communities but also coming from non-Arab and Non- Muslim communities disillusioned with Labors response to the horrors occurring in Gaza.

Muslim groups in NSW and Victoria have announced boycotts of politicians to attend the traditional Muslim Iftar dinners held when Muslims break their fast in the evening during their holy month of Ramadan. These communities feel that as relatives and friends are murdered and starved in Gaza and killed and imprisoned on the West Bank their loss is being ignored by all Governments as is the rise in Islamophobia that they are being subjected to.

On the West Back settlers continue to attack and burn cars and houses and kill people with absolute immunity. Over 400 people have been killed including 100 children. Certain towns and refugee camps have been targeted including Tulkarem and Nur Shams referred to as ‘Little Gaza’ due to the numbers that have been killed and the destruction of houses, infrastructure and especially roads that has taken place. And as they have done repeatedly the IDF prevent ambulance and health care workers from reaching the wounded and dying. As one mother, Abeer Saaisa, reported on the murder by deliberate neglect, of her 14 year old son Mujahed, “My son was still breathing and if they had let the ambulance through he could have been saved but seeing my son dying on the ground with my own eyes is something no mother should have to suffer.” And this week again another child was killed for throwing a firecracker. Just being a child.

Not only are children being killed and camps and towns attacked there is an exponential rise in the arrest and detention of Palestinians since October 7th. Tal Steiner, the executive director of the Public Committee Against Torture in Israel (PCATI), has said that “there are almost 10,000 Palestinians in Israeli custody right now, … a 200-percent increase from any normal year”. She also said that nine people had allegedly died in prisons since then. The United Nations has been warned of the crisis in Israeli prisons and there are several Israeli NGO reports of prisoner systemic abuse and torture. “We are extremely, extremely concerned, what we’re looking at is a crisis”, said Tal Steiner. Another Israeli NGO the Adalah legal centre, reported that they had documented 19 clear cases of torture within the Israeli prison system since October 7, including sexual violence. Both Israeli human rights organisations noted that the deepening problem was not getting enough attention and now required the immediate intervention of the international community.

The deliberate killing of civilians in Gaza, in particularly women and children, deliberately starving a civilian population, the deliberate killing of health workers and journalists, the catastrophic deliberate destruction of homes, school, universities, administrative offices, mosques, churches, water and sewerage infrastructure and more are all war crimes and crimes against humanity. These have been called out by the ICJ and all UN bodies have been desperately calling for action from the international community. But I have yet to hear our Prime Minister and Foreign Minister support this plea for humanity from the UN. The undermining of the UN system, the international rule of law and the blatant disregard for humanitarian law by Israel and other western nations by their complicit silence is considerably weakening the UN and all that it stands for.

As Craig Mokhiber in an article in Pearls and irritations wrote on March 14th “in a post-human-rights world, and without the promise of the protection of the law against abuses of state power, do not doubt for a moment that you may well be next.”

Israeli troops raided Al-Shifa Hospital to kill official behind Gaza aid efforts
Fayeq al-Mabhouh’s assassination is a stark violation of international humanitarian law

Mabhouh, a former member of Hamas’ Qassam Brigades, had been working in recent months to facilitate the entry of much needed humanitarian aid into north Gaza as part of his role as the strip’s director of police.

“The Israeli occupation has assassinated Brigadier General Fayeq al-Mabhouh, who is in charge of coordinating with the [local] tribes and UNRWA to facilitate and secure humanitarian aid into northern Gaza,” Gaza’s Government Media Office said in a statement on 18 March.

Mabhouh was “engaged in purely civilian humanitarian work, and should have been protected and not targeted under international law,” the statement added.

In a statement the same day, Hamas called the assassination a “terrorist crime” which serves as “further evidence of the Nazi enemy’s attempt to spread chaos, undermine societal peace in the Gaza Strip, and perpetuate the state of famine.”

Upon being discovered by Israeli forces, Mabhouh refused to give himself in and clashed with troops using his police weapon – killing a soldier and wounding two others before being killed, according to press sources in Gaza.

The Israeli army and Shin Bet security service claimed Mabhouh was hiding inside Al-Shifa Hospital. They also said he was responsible for the “synchronization” of Hamas units in the strip.

According to Gaza journalist, Yousef Fares, Mabhouh has not held any position in Hamas’ military wing since his release from Israeli prison 15 years ago, and instead focused on work within Gaza’s ministry of interior and police force – most recently in efforts to bring aid into the strip.

The assassination came two days after the successful entry of 15 aid trucks into the northern Gaza Strip for the first time in four months.

Israel has consistently obstructed aid efforts by maintaining the closure of border crossings. With Israeli approval, the air forces of Jordan and the US recently carried out aid drops into Gaza. However, the aid drops have been described by authorities in Gaza as insufficient and nowhere near the amount needed to address the dire humanitarian crisis.

Mabhouh’s assassination during Monday’s attack on Al-Shifa Hospital came as Israeli troops were launching their second incursion into the medical facility since November. Several people were killed, injured, or forced to evacuate the hospital.

Al-Shifa is among the last few hospitals operating in north Gaza.

Israel has also carried out repeated attacks on aid centers and on starving Gazans lined up for food aid this month and the month before.

The killing of Mabhouh is “a continuation of the occupation's targeting and bombing of many humanitarian aid distribution centers for displaced persons, and the assassination and killing of those involved in providing this aid,” the Government Media Office added in its statement.

"drowning limpets"....

A terrorist state and a declining US empire wage genocide     By John Menadue

Hamas is the excuse for the Israeli attack on Gaza. The real intent is to expel all Palestinians not just from Gaza but from the West Bank as well.

Or as Jonathan Cook put it ‘Israel is not primarily eradicating Hamas. It is eradicating Gaza’

Professor Richard Falk said .. ‘In Gaza, the west is enabling the most transparent genocide in human history’ And Australia is complicit.

The Finance Minister in the Netanyahu Government says ‘there’s no such thing as a Palestinian people‘. So why not get rid of them!

The settler colonisation of Palestine started with the Nakba in 1948. It is continuing. In Australia we are very familiar with settler colonisation – driving out the original inhabitants.

In 1948 Palestinians owned 94% of all land; now Israelis own 82%. These figures tell the real story. Israel is an occupying power.

Palestinians are humiliated every day of their lives as John Lyons showed us the other night on Four Corners. The former head of Shin Bet Ami Ayalon said ‘we control the lives of millions’ .

Israel has stolen vast areas of Palestinian lands. Yet the defenders of Israel like the Albanese Government parrot on that Israel has a right to defend itself. But surely Palestinian have a greater right to resist the occupation of their lands.

Asked how Palestinians might regard Israel, Ami Ayalon said ‘I would fight against Israel in order to achieve my liberty…I would do everything to achieve my liberty’.

Moshe Dayan said much the same in 1956, ‘What cause have we to complain about their fierce hatred to us? For eight years now, they sit in their refugee camps in Gaza, and before their eyes we turn into our homestead the land and villages in which they and their forefathers have lived’.

If Country J had occupied Australia in WW2, would Country J have the right to defend itself on our soil? Surely occupied people have a much greater right than the occupier to defend themselves. The slave has more rights to act against oppression than the slave owner to oppress the slave.

October 7 did not occur in a vacuum. It was the result of decades long Israeli occupation, imprisonment, apartheid and never ending violence and oppression. The pressure cooker exploded!

Apologists for Israel want us to ignore the history and context. The expelling and killing of Palestinians by Israel started 76 years ago in 1948, not 5 months ago in October last year.

Hamas is described by its critics as a terrorist organisation. Maybe. But Israel is much more a terrorist organisation, a Terrorist State, with enormous military power to crush its opponents, supported by the most powerful military in the world. US  support of state terrorism is on ghastly show.

Ehud Barak a former Prime Minister told John Lyons. ‘I once was asked some 30 years ago what I have been doing if I were a Palestinian and 30 years ago I was new enough in politics to tell the truth that if I were born Palestinian probably would’ve joined one of the terror organisations.’

That 1200 Israelis were killed by Hamas on October 7 is appalling. Some were killed by Israeli helicopters and tanks. Israeli allegations about Hamas killing babies together with other atrocities has been found to be highly dubious. President Biden fell for Israeli propaganda. Media around the world has been complicit in the Israel/US huge propaganda campaign.

The crimes are now being overwhelmingly being committed by Israel and supported by the US

How do we balance the tragic Israeli loss of life compared with over 11,000 Palestinians killed by Israel before October 7 last year and over 30,000 killed by Israel since October 7.

Israelis are naturally concerned about 134 Israeli hostages still held in Gaza. Yet 10,000 Palestinians are held in Israeli prisons. Palestinians regard them as hostages held by Israel. And that is what they are. Many of the detainees in Israeli prisons are young Palestinians arrested for doing not much more than throwing stones at heavily armed Israeli vehicles.

We follow the US with lip service to a two state solution but we do nothing to advance it. We talk about it to ease our consciences about continuing Israeli barbarity.Australian support for the Israeli genocide is a disgrace.

I thought we elected a Labor Government that would be different and  better! But not so, on so many fronts.

Netanyahu says that Israel has no one he can negotiate with for  a political solution. The most popular Palestinian leader, Martin Barghouti has been in an Israeli gaol for 22 years–shades of Nelson Mandela. President Abbas of Fatah is a creature of the Israelis, not of the Palestinian people.

In 2016, Netanyahu began sending money to Hamas with the help of the Qataris. His motive for this secret funding was to build Hamas as the rival to Fatah and President Abbas. Netanyahu is now hoist with his own petard. And Palestinians are paying the price with high tech Israeli/US killing.

Recognising Palestine would be a first step in a political settlement. But the Israeli government rejects it. Netanyahu boasts that he has thwarted a Palestinian State.

Ehud Barak said of Netanyahu, ‘I don’t think that anyone can trust him. So he basically lies to everyone and no one can trust him’.

Even if the military defeat of Hamas was possible as Netanyahu hopes, it would not end Palestinian resistance. It would continue in another and stronger form.

Hamas is certainly not winning in our Washington manipulated media. But it is winning overwhelmingly in the Arab street and the Global South. It shows in the UN General Assembly and the ICJ.

The Zionist Lobby has become tiresome in accusing its critics of anti semitism. It uses it as a battering ram against all its critics. It employs the holocaust as a cloak to hide its barbarity in Gaza. Or as Jonathan Glazer called it at the Oscars ‘We refute our Jewishness and the Holocaust being hijacked’.

The latest US propaganda trick is to try to blame Netanyahu and not Israel for the killing. But polls suggest that 75% of Israelis believe that the war should continue.

The media trick is telling us that Palestinians are starving. The honest story is that Israel is starving the people of Gaza.

Israel’s reputation will be for ever sullied by its barbarity in Gaza. With its sadistic behaviour the IDF is no longer ‘the most moral army’ in the world.  It never was.

There has to be a political settlement acceptable to both Palestinians and Israelis. The US has the power to force that settlement but it is in thrall and manipulated by the very powerful Israeli Lobby in the US.

US’ failing global ‘leadership’ and domestic sickness can no longer be hidden. Gaza and Ukraine will be seen as historic hinge events.

The US makes no attempt to practice what it preaches about human rights and international law.

We are attached like limpets to a sinking Empire.
