The 2016 'Ukraine on Fire’ documentary, which features filmmaker Oliver Stone and chronicles the tumultuous modern history of the country, has been removed by YouTube for being in violation of its guidelines.

The film’s director, Ukrainian filmmaker Igor Lopatonok claims that YouTube representatives informed him that the documentary was taken down for featuring “violent or graphic content,” but did not explain why it had never run into any problems before, despite being hosted on the platform for the past six years.

Lopatonok has taken to Twitter to urge people who enjoyed the film to download it and “post it everywhere.”

Free-speech-orientated platforms such as Odysee and Rumble were quick to pick up on YouTube’s act of censorship and have since been promoting the film on their websites

‘Ukraine on Fire’ chronicles the events of the Euromaidan - a wave of demonstrations and civil unrest that gripped Kiev in November 2013, and explores what led up to the armed coup which ousted then-president Viktor Yanukovich and launched the country into an eight-year-long conflict with the eastern regions of Ukraine.

The documentary is currently available on a number of platforms, including Vimeo, Amazon, Rumble and Odysee.

ON FIRE...

the truth upsets the Ukrainian nazis…….

Pro-Ukrainian activists in Leipzig, Germany disrupted the showing of a film about the 2014 Maidan coup, police said on Friday. A group showed up at Thursday evening’s screening of ‘Ukraine on Fire,’ a 2016 documentary produced by Oliver Stone, and got into an altercation with the organizers.

The documentary screening was part of the globaLE film festival, which runs from July 27 to November 1. The open-air festival shows works critical of globalization. ‘Ukraine on Fire,’ produced by Stone and directed by Ukrainian filmmaker Igor Lopatonok, takes a critical view of the 2014 Kiev protests that resulted in a violent overthrow of the elected government of Ukraine.

The German-Ukrainian artist group Ostov Collective showed up at the screening on Thursday evening, calling the documentary pro-Russian.

According to preliminary police reports, six people disturbed the screening by beating their drums and attempting to seize the microphone out of the organizer’s hand. The resulting fight required police intervention, and delayed the screening by several minutes.

Activists with the Ostov Collective told German media that they were in fact the victims, after an organizer punched one of them in the face.

A spokesman for Leipzig police said no injuries were reported, and that the authorities were investigating the activist group for attempted bodily harm, according to Der Spiegel

Oliver Stone voices opinion on root cause of Ukraine conflict

America has helped make Kiev the enemy of Moscow, the famed director says

The US turning Ukraine into an anti-Russian country since 2014 is the root cause of the current conflict, award-winning film director Oliver Stone said in an interview with the Serbian daily Politika, published Monday.

“Who are we to point fingers at anyone?” Stone told his interviewer ahead of the Red Sea International Film Festival (RSIFF) in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, where he chairs the jury. “We’re telling Russians what to do, I mean it’s ridiculous, given what we’ve done.”

What is currently happening in Ukraine is “not simple at all,” Stone added, but it’s getting reduced in the West to “Russians invaded.” There is no mention of anything that has been happening in Donbass since 2014, or how many people were displaced because the US was arming Ukraine.

“Since 2014, Ukraine was no longer neutral but anti-Russian, and that’s what disrupted the balance,”Stone told Politika, adding that “every war has causes and consequences” if one is willing to pay attention.

The ‘Snowden’ director has also produced two documentaries about the events in Kiev, ‘Ukraine on Fire’ in 2016 and ‘Revealing Ukraine’ in 2019. Both have faced bans, boycotts, and attacks over the course of this year.

The US is quick to condemn any country in the world when it supposedly violates the “rules-based international order,” but “America breaks all the rules whenever it wants and you know it,” Stone told his Serbian interviewer.

He expressed regret for voting for Joe Biden, saying this “grandpa” turned out to be very dangerous, with his “dream” of regime change in Moscow so the US can control Russia again as it did in the 1990s. Barack Obama’s choice of Biden as his running mate in 2008, in order to appease establishment Democrats, was “a huge mistake,” Stone said. He also argued that the only hope for the US would be the emergence of a third party, as both Democrats and Republicans are beholden to the military-industrial complex.

Stone’s most recent documentary, ‘Nuclear’, addresses the role of atomic energy in dealing with climate change. It will also be shown at the RSIFF. Asked if he is still a rebel, Stone replied that he is getting old and having problems with his eyesight and hearing, but prefers to “live on my feet than die on my knees.”

we knew....

US President Joe Biden is following a “suicidal” course in Ukraine and may drag the US “stupidly into a confrontation” with Russia, acclaimed director Oliver Stone said during a recent podcast appearance.

Speaking on an episode of British commentator Russell Brand’s ‘Stay Free’ podcast released on Friday, Stone blamed the conflict in Ukraine on the "neoconservative movement who started the war in Iraq," and who still occupy prominent positions in Biden’s government.

“Biden is an old Cold Warrior, and he really hates the old Soviet Union which he confounds again with the Russian Federation, which is not communist,” Stone continued. “It seems that he’s dragging us stupidly into a confrontation with a power that is not going to give. This is [Russia’s] borders. This is their world. This is NATO going into Ukraine. This is a whole other story.”

Stone revealed that he voted for Biden in 2020, a decision that he now considers “a mistake.”

I was thinking he was an old man now that he would calm down, that he would be more mellow and so forth,” Stone said, adding that he now sees “a man who maybe is not in charge of his own administration. Who knows?”

Back in 2016, Stone produced a documentary, ‘Ukraine on Fire’, explaining the role of the US in the 2014 overthrow of Ukraine’s democratically-elected president, Viktor Yanukovich. The film was highly critical of NATO’s eastward expansion, the US’ sponsorship of Ukrainian neo-Nazis, and the war on Donetsk and Lugansk waged by Yanukovich’s US-backed successor, Pyotr Poroshenko.

The Euromaidan coup, he told Brand, “was a very deep plan to penetrate the Russian Federation.”

Stone has repeatedly expressed this sentiment in the years since ‘Ukraine on Fire’ was released. “Since 2014, Ukraine was no longer neutral but anti-Russian, and that’s what disrupted the balance,” he told the Serbian daily Politika in December, adding that “every war has causes and consequences.”

Though Stone was a vocal critic of former President Donald Trump and voted for his Democratic opponent in 2020, his views on the Ukraine conflict align with Trump’s. The former president and 2024 Republican frontrunner has also named the same neoconservatives as key architects of the conflict, while accusing Biden of dragging the US into “a third world war.”
