Letters, The Age March 7, 2007….. ACTUALLY, Brian Burke wasn't such a bad premier for most of his reign. Sure he got caught with his hand in the till, but as Frank Smith says (Letters 6/3), nobody died, no citizens deported or tortured and no children overboard.John Bye, Elwood ACCORDING to the Prime Minister, Senator Campbell has behaved "with total honour and total integrity". Govt attacks after Thomson's shock resignationThe Federal Government has gone on the attack after the unexpected resignation of Labor frontbencher Kelvin Thomson.
Mr Thomson resigned as shadow attorney-general over a reference he wrote seven years ago, for the Melbourne underworld figure Tony Mokbel.
The news is a welcome diversion for the Coalition, as three Liberal MPs are under investigation over their use of taxpayer funds.
After news of Labor leader Kevin Rudd's 2005 meetings with disgraced former WA premier Brian Burke, the Government says the revelation is another sign that senior Labor figures have poor judgement.
