the main event .....
Several months prior to the unveiling of the bushit administration's Shock & Awe campaign on Iraq, White House Chief of Staff Andrew Card said: "From a marketing point of view, you don't introduce new products in August." Likewise, the marketing for an attack on Iran - arguably the Administration's Main Event from the start - has been in the works for some time, though it's picked up a significant head of steam lately. There have been problems with the product, however, with two significant new ones cropping up today. First, dissent in the highest ranks of the military with regard to an unwise and immoral idea: "There are four or five generals and admirals we know of who would resign if Bush ordered an attack on Iran," a source with close ties to British intelligence said. "There is simply no stomach for it in the Pentagon, and a lot of people question whether such an attack would be effective or even possible." The Generals call it a decision of "conscience" & the Times of London notes that this would be no ordinary event: "'American generals usually stay and fight until they get fired,' said a Pentagon source." At the same time, the UN has essentially said that American intelligence sucks (read: not to be trusted): Officials said the CIA and other Western spy services had provided sensitive information to the Vienna-based International Atomic Energy Agency at least since 2002, when Iran's long-secret nuclear program was exposed. But none of the tips about supposed secret weapons sites provided clear evidence that the Islamic Republic was developing illicit weapons. "Since 2002, pretty much all the intelligence that's come to us has proved to be wrong," a senior diplomat at the IAEA said. Another official here described the agency's intelligence stream as "very cold now" because "so little panned out." meanwhile, of course, the bushit administration’s middle-eastern surrogate, the Zionists, continue with their plans to attack Iran, whilst offering further proof of the fallacy that is Iraqi sovereignty & independence ….. ‘Israel is negotiating with the United States for permission to fly over Iraq as part of a plan to attack Iran's nuclear facilities. To conduct surgical air strikes against Iran's nuclear programme, Israeli war planes would need to fly across Iraq. But to do so the Israeli military authorities in Tel Aviv need permission from the Pentagon. A senior Israeli defence official said negotiations were now underway between the two countries for the US-led coalition in Iraq to provide an "air corridor" in the event of the Israeli government deciding on unilateral military action to prevent Teheran developing nuclear weapons. "We are planning for every eventuality, and sorting out issues such as these are crucially important," said the official, who asked not to be named. "The only way to do this is to fly through US-controlled air space. If we don't sort these issues out now we could have a situation where American and Israeli war planes start shooting at each other."’

war on terror breeds terror
Innocent people across the world are now paying the price of the "Iraq effect", with the loss of hundreds of lives directly linked to the invasion and occupation by American and British forces.
An authoritative US study of terrorist attacks after the invasion in 2003 contradicts the repeated denials of George Bush and Tony Blair that the war is not to blame for an upsurge in fundamentalist violence worldwide."official" terrorism .....
Why is it important to remember the US involvement in the overthrow of Salvador Allende & the installation of the torturer, Pinochet, in power in Chile?
For one thing, the key architect of using terror to dislodge democratically elected regimes, notably Chile, is Henry Kissinger. He is still, according to news reports, a key advisor to bushit & jabba.
Central to Kissinger's Machiavellian assertion of US power for the sake of dominance alone is the use of terror. Yes, that is not some sort of radical, far left assertion. It is fact.
Take this excerpt from a cable during the Kissinger orchestration of the overthrow & "suiciding" of Allende, as included in a New Yorker review of this book written a few years back:
"For Chileans, September 11th marks a different tragedy - the anniversary of the 1973 coup that overthrew the democratically elected government of Salvador Allende. This timely book weaves together thirty years of declassified documents with a gripping narrative of America's involvement in the affair. At a National Security Council meeting in 1970, Secretary of Defense Melvin Laird said of Allende, "We want to do everything we can to hurt him and bring him down" & a CIA memo from the same year describes efforts of a key ally "to increase the level of terrorism in Santiago." This terrorism included the assassination of René Schneider, the constitutionalist commander-in-chief of Chile's armed forces, which was carried out with CIA.-provided funds & submachine guns. The evidence that Kornbluh has gathered is overwhelming."
In short, the use of terrorism to overthrow a Democratically elected regime in Chile was unofficial US policy.
And once Pinochet was installed, with Kissinger's blessing, a reign of terror was visited upon the people of Chile.
This is the reality: the US replaced a Democratically elected government with military terrorists.
That, again, is just the fact, not some wild theorizing.
meanwhile, the same evil cabal of war criminals are busy right now plotting their next great folly …. yet another crime against peace …..
As US officials yesterday displayed “bombmaking parts”, said to have been transported by Iran, the cache "included items that only succeeded in clouding the issue. ... the boxes appeared to contain shipments of tubes directly from factories in the Middle East, none of them in Iran."
At the same time …..
‘New Yorker columnist Sy Hersh says the “single most explosive” element of his latest article involves an effort by the Bush administration to stem the growth of Shiite influence in the Middle East (specifically the Iranian government and Hezbollah in Lebanon) by funding violent Sunni groups.
Hersh says the U.S. has been “pumping money, a great deal of money, without congressional authority, without any congressional oversight” for covert operations in the Middle East where it wants to “stop the Shiite spread or the Shiite influence.” Hersh says these funds have ended up in the hands of “three Sunni jihadist groups” who are “connected to al Qaeda” but “want to take on Hezbollah.”
Hersh summed up his scoop in stark terms: “We are simply in a situation where this president is really taking his notion of executive privilege to the absolute limit here, running covert operations, using money that was not authorized by Congress, supporting groups indirectly that are involved with the same people that did 9/11.”’
