Disney’s walk to wokeness looks like a death march for artistry and entertainment when you see the radical transformation of the Marvel properties.

The rollicking, insightful yet fun-loving action movie sentiment of pre-Disney Iron Man (2008) has morphed into the lifeless, soul-sucking woke propaganda of Captain Marvel (2019) and the relentless preachiness of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (2021).

The all-powerful Disney is the Roman Empire of the entertainment industry, and the woke barbarians aren’t at the gate, they’re well inside the walls and sitting at the seat of power. These woke parasites don’t build things, they only destroy them by draining them of vitality and driving out talent. This is why Disney’s business model shifted from making its own original content to gobbling up content creators like Pixar, Marvel, Lucasfilm and Fox, and slowly sucking the life out of them.

Disney is going to learn that wokeness destroys everything it touches. It may take years or decades, but it’s just a matter of time before “get woke, go broke” becomes Disney’s reality and Mickey Mouse’s whole sh*thouse goes up in flames. Good riddance.

pigs can fly...

As mentioned on this site several times, "The Lion King" seems to be a depiction of a cultural value against socialism. It is designed to inspire young people (men of course) to become top dog. I am awaiting for an apology by Disney such as :

"This program includes unreal depictions and/or inflation of animals and species. Rather than remove this content, we want to acknowledge its harmful impact, learn from it and spark conversation to create a more inclusive future together. Disney is committed to creating stories with inspirational and aspirational themes that reflect the rich equality of the social experience around the globe."

woke dilution...

By David Brooks

My friend Rod Dreher recently had a blog post for The American Conservative called “Why Are Conservatives in Despair?” He explained that conservatives are in despair because a hostile ideology — wokeness or social justice or critical race theory — is sweeping across America the way Bolshevism swept across the Russian Empire before the October Revolution in 1917.

This ideology is creating a “soft totalitarianism” across wide swaths of American society, he writes. In the view of not just Dreher but also many others, it divides the world into good and evil based on crude racial categories. It has no faith in persuasion, or open discourse, but it shames and cancels anybody who challenges the official catechism. It produces fringe absurdities like “ethnomathematics,” which proponents say seeks to challenge the ways that, as one guide for teachers puts it, “math is used to uphold capitalist, imperialist and racist views” by dismissing old standards like “getting the ‘right’ answer.”

I’m less alarmed by all of this because I have more confidence than Dreher and many other conservatives in the American establishment’s ability to co-opt and water down every radical progressive ideology. In the 1960s, left-wing radicals wanted to overthrow capitalism. We ended up with Whole Foods. The co-optation of wokeness seems to be happening right now.

The thing we call wokeness contains many elements. At its core is an honest and good-faith effort to grapple with the legacies of racism. In 2021, this element of wokeness has produced more understanding, inclusion and racial progress than we’ve seen in over 50 years. This part of wokeness is great.

But wokeness gets weirder when it’s entangled in the perversities of our meritocracy, when it involves demonstrating one’s enlightenment by using language — “problematize,” “heteronormativity,” “cisgender,” “intersectionality” — inculcated in elite schools or with difficult texts.

In an essay titled “The Language of Privilege,” in Tablet, Nicholas Clairmont argues that the difficulty of the language is the point — to exclude those with less educational capital.

People who engage in this discourse have been enculturated by our best and most expensive schools. If you look at the places where the splashy woke controversies have taken place, they have often been posh prep schools, like Harvard-Westlake or Dalton, or pricey colleges, like Bryn Mawr or Princeton.

The meritocracy at this level is very competitive. Performing the discourse by canceling and shaming becomes a way of establishing your status and power as an enlightened person. It becomes a way of showing — despite your secret self-doubts — that you really belong. It also becomes a way of showing the world that you are anti-elite, even though you work, study and live in circles that are extremely elite.

The meritocracy has one job: to funnel young people into leadership positions in society. It’s very good at doing that. Corporations and other organizations are eager to hire top performers, and one sign of elite credentials is the ability to do the discourse. That’s why the C.I.A. made that widely mocked recruiting video that was like a woke word salad: cisgender, intersectional, patriarchal.

The people at the C.I.A., Disney, Major League Baseball and Coca-Cola aren’t faking it when they perform the acts we now call woke capitalism. They went to the same schools and share the same dominant culture and want the same reputational benefits.

But as the discourse gets more corporatized it’s going to get watered down. The primary ideology in America is success; that ideology has a tendency to absorb all rivals.

We saw this happen between the 1970s and the 1990s. American hippies built a genuinely bohemian counterculture. But as they got older they wanted to succeed. They brought their bohemian values into the market, but year by year those values got thinner and thinner and finally were nonexistent.

Corporations and other establishment organizations co-opt almost unconsciously. They send ambitious young people powerful signals about what level of dissent will be tolerated while embracing dissident values as a form of marketing. By taking what was dangerous and aestheticizing it, they turn it into a product or a brand. Pretty soon key concepts like “privilege” are reduced to empty catchphrases floating everywhere.

The economist and cultural observer Tyler Cowen expects wokeness in this sense won’t disappear. Writing for Bloomberg last week, he predicted it would become something more like the Unitarian Church — “broadly admired but commanding only a modicum of passion and commitment.”

This would be fine with me. As I say, there are (at least) two elements to wokeness. One focuses on concrete benefits for the disadvantaged — reparations, more diverse hiring, more equitable housing and economic policies. The other instigates savage word wars among the highly advantaged. If we can have more of the former and less of the latter, we’ll all be better off.

mind control...

by Phil Butler

Russia, we all know from geography class it’s the biggest country in the world. Isn’t it too bad Russians never did anything good? I mean, if you use Google or almost any information source people in the west use, Russians are living in a dark, inescapable prison where a fiendish despot thinks of nothing but threatening the rest of the world. And this Putin fellow has supposedly deployed the mightiest propaganda machine the world has ever known! But wait, is this all true? For those who are still unaware, the world mind control center is not in Moscow.

I hope you will forgive the sarcasm. But the reality of the west-east divide is just too simple to figure out. And this is why I wake up every morning praying the media bubble suffocating my countrymen will burst. No, Russia’s state media cannot even hold a flickering candle to the enormous propaganda beast waging information war on our minds. Let me remind everyone that 13 corporations control nearly every scrap of information distributed in the world. And Putin does not run any of these companies.

Lists suck, but to understand the level of mind control we are talking about, naming these companies is essential. Bertelsmann, National Amusements (ViacomCBS), Sony Corporation, News Corp, Comcast, The Walt Disney Company, AT&T Inc., Fox Corporation, Hearst Communications, MGM Holdings Inc., Grupo Globo (South America), and Lagardère Group are the multinational controllers of information worldwide. Now let’s take a closer look at who controls these conglomerates.

Bertelsmann, which the Mohn family runs since World War II, was the most significant book publisher for Hitler’s Wehrmacht before and during the war. Since the war, the company has bloomed into a worldwide conglomerate that publishes books, broadcasts on television on radio, produces music, prints magazines, and operates in the service industry as well. If you are within the German sphere of language or influence, this company brainwashes you to what to think and how to conduct your life. Your children learn with a tilt that is toward whatever Christoph Mohn and his sisters think they need. In fact, through the company’s Penguin ownership, the Mohn’s get to indoctrinate American and British schoolchildren too. Oh, and also on the Bertelsmann board are BMW chairperson Joachim Milberg, Nestle Germany board chair Werner J. Bauer, Merck chairman Karl-Ludwig Kley, Volkswagon’s Hans Dieter Potsch, Henkel’s Kasper Rorsted, and other German elites.

Joining the Germans in the anti-Russia propaganda ranks is ViacomCBS, which reaches about a billion people in 180 countries. From their headquarters at One Astor Plaza in Midtown Manhattan, this media conglomerate is so gigantic it’s impossible to list the media companies it controls. Other than the CBS sub-brands, there are outlets like Smithsonian, VH1, the Movie Channel, BET+, Channel 5 in the UK, Nickelodeon Animation Studio, Telefe in Argentina, Paramount Pictures, Noggin, Network 10 in Australia, and dozens more. This mega-conglomerate is owned primarily by Shari Redstone, the granddaughter of the parent company National Amusements, Inc.’s German Jewish founder Michael Redstone. Interestingly, Shari’s father, Sumner Redstone was a 1st Lieutenant in the United States Army during World War II who served with a team at the Signals Intelligence Service that decoded Japanese messages. This agency would later become part of the intelligence-gathering capability of the NSA. And western think tanks moan about Vladimir Putin as a former KGB Colonel.

I’ll skip past Sony, the Japanese conglomerate that has a TV, digital camera, music collection, movie collection, smart device, video game, or robot in just about every home on the planet. We’ve no room here for a history of Russia-Japan relations since the Russo-Japanese War of 1904 and 1905. News Corp and its boss Rupert Murdoch have also been well covered by me and here on NEO. Walt Disney, AT&T, and FOX are also just too big to outline correctly here. Everyone on this planet has been influenced in some way by the span of the Mickey Mouse brand. AT&T brings in almost $200 billion in revenue each year from markets from Hong Kong to Mexico. And FOX is more or less run by the aforementioned Putin hater Rupert Murdoch, as well.

This brings me to Comcast, the world’s second-biggest cable provider, which must be mentioned for the simple reason it’s probably the most disliked American media company in history. The conglomerate that runs Europe’s Sky Group is the most prominent internet provider for homes in America, owns Universal Pictures, and has dozens of more household names. Comcast also lobbies extensively in Washington, and it’s common knowledge the company employs the spouses, sons, and daughters of mayors, councilmen, commissioners, and other officials to assure its continued preferred market allocations. It’s been dubbed the “Worst Company in America,” but still hundreds of millions tune in. Comcast is run by another Jewish billionaire, Brian L. Roberts, who is also the chairman of the National Cable & Telecommunications Association (NCTA).

As for Hearst, the newspaper and media conglomerate begun by the legendary William Randolph Hearst has lost much of its former sway. Once the most extensive media empire on Earth, Hearst only plays at the fringes with local newspapers, in magazines like Harpers Bazaar and Esquire, with HGTV, and so on. Hearst is strong with reaching down into the social psyche, which makes for powerful propaganda prowess. MGM, as always, is all about the power of Hollywood, even if the company is busted these days.

Then there’s Grupo Globo and Lagardère Group, which I would consider niche or regional conglomerates going through some troubles of late. Globo runs the information game in Latin America, while France’s Lagardère clings to what remains of the power built by Jean-Luc Lagardère back in the 1960s. An interesting footnote here is that Jean-Luc was a member of the Saint-Simon Foundation think tank, accused of exerting excessive and covert influence on French politics.

Finally, the BBC is not mentioned among the list of entities controlling media and information. I must include the Queen Mother’s propaganda machine here for obvious reasons. The state-run BBC is the world’s oldest national broadcaster and the largest broadcaster globally by the number of employees. One of the exciting things about this legendary network is that UK people fork over £154.50 (2019) each year to fund their mind control mechanism directly. BBC operates across TV, radio, internet, interactive, movies, music, education, and just about every other facet of society you can name. Children get their indoctrination early on through BBC Kids. BBC Lifestyle grabs hold of people through their wants and desires. And the official channel of Britain’s royalty rules thought with all the best from David Attenborough to Monty Python. Let’s see RTTV or Sputnik News top that!

Are you with me yet? Are you here in the actual dimension? Or, are you still wanting to argue that the billionaires who control these conglomerates are idealists, above reproach, and unwilling to flitter around with what you think or do? Go on then. Imagine in your heart of ordinary Joe hearts you would not twist minds to get what you want. If the chance were there, I mean. Or, reason a million similar stories about the evil Russians gritting their teeth, standing behind the new Russian Czar, and marching into Budapest, then Berlin, Paris, and London.

the corrupt kingdom…...

Disneyland was built in Anaheim, California in 1955. In the years since, it has become one of the most influential companies in Southern California. Disney claims that the park generates $5.7 billion annually for the Southern California economy.

An FBI affidavit that was released publicly last week detailed a small cabal that controlled the city government in Anaheim, California. A major part of that cabal was an unnamed employee of a company only identified as “Company A.”

A Los Angeles Times report, citing a person familiar with the investigation, claims that “Company A” is Disneyland Resort and the employee is Disneyland Resort Director of External Affairs Carrie Nocella.

At this time, neither Nocella nor Disney have been accused of any wrongdoing, but it is a part of a larger investigation that saw Republican Anaheim Mayor Harry Sidhu and Democratic National Committee and state party secretary Melahat Rafiei resign due to accusations of bribery, fraud, obstruction of justice, and witness tampering.

According to the affidavit, Nocella, along with a political consultant, scripted a speech given by Sidhu in front of a city council meeting. Sidhu was the only local official to speak on the item, which considered the spending of $210 million in grants meant to shore up lost revenue due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The political consultant is believed to be Jeff Flint, CEO of FSB Public Affairs, who has worked with Disneyland Resorts in the past. Flint took a leave of absence from his job at FSB but has denied any wrongdoing.

After the meeting, a Disney employee – believed to be Nocella – texted the political consultant, complaining about the mayor’s performance, saying that he read “your script so poorly.”

The affidavit described the Company A (Disney) employee as a one of the group's ringleaders “to some extent.”

The cabal also included Todd Ament, the head of the Anaheim Chamber of Commerce, who resigned after being accused of laundering chamber money through a consultant’s PR firm to his personal account. He used that money to secure a loan for a $1.5 million estate in Big Bear, a small lakeside California town known for its ski resort.

Disney is long thought to have major influence in Anaheim. Council members, current and former, along with a former mayor and political activists have all told the Los Angeles Times that Disney uses their power to get tax breaks and influences politicians through campaign contributions.

In 2015, the city council approved a plan that exempted Disney from sales tax on its ticket sales for 45 years, and then in 2016, the city gave Disney $267 million in tax rebates to build a luxury hotel.

But after city voters passed a measure requiring that any resort that receives subsidies from the city pay its employees a living wage, the company abandoned plans for the hotel and asked the city council to cancel their sales tax exemption.

Months before the mayor would give his speech in front of the city council, Nocella, Ament, the political consultant thought to be Flint and a still unnamed elected official discussed who should be allowed in a secretive meeting between elected officials and powerful business interests in the city.

During a phone call wiretapped by the FBI, “Elected Official 1” and the political consultant discussed who would be allowed in the meeting.

“No, I talked about it with Todd [Ament] and [Company A Employee],” the political consultant said. “We felt like for this first one we’ll kinda keep things big picture and stick with um, with, um, [Elected Official 4] and [Elected Official 3]. … But, um, [Elected Official 2’s], you know, I think he’s on the team, but he’s just gonna take some management because he’s got competing pressures.”

Other tapped calls showed that the group was obsessed with making sure only people they trusted were allowed into the meeting, saying that they had to “keep the family close” and Ament once called their group a “cabal.”

Sidhu resigned on Monday in response to a separate affidavit that accused him of giving the Angels baseball team confidential information while the city was engaged in negotiations with the Angels over the sale of Angel Stadium, while hoping to receive a $1 million campaign donation from the team.

The sale of the stadium has since been put on hold. Sidhu’s lawyer denies any wrongdoing and says he will be cleared after the investigation. Still, Sidhu’s campaign website, which was active as of Monday, is now offline.

Nocella, who recently deleted her social media accounts, has declined to comment on the matter. Disney told the Los Angeles Times that “We have seen media reports of the complaint and no authorities have reached out to us about it.”
