PM to sell Army's 'good life'
The Prime Minister says it will be tough to recruit enough soldiers to reach the target set out under the Federal Government's plan to make the army larger.
John Howard has announced the Government will spend $10 billion over the next 11 years to create two new battalions, or 2,600 troops.
There will be a new recruiting drive and a new approach. "I don't think we should be reluctant to appeal to people who actually think an Army life - as it's often been understood in a traditional sense - is a pretty good life," Mr Howard said.
