US nukes in australia is NOT A GOOD IDEA......

hum...

The United States wants to regularly rotate long-range heavy bombers through Australia, as concerns grow over China's military expansion in the Asia-Pacific region.

Key points:
  • US keen to station B-1 bombers in NT amid tension in South China Sea
  • Deployment would be in conjunction with RAAF
  • Australian Defence Minister confirms US presence will be greater

Commander of US Pacific Air Forces, General Lori Robinson, has revealed high-level discussions are underway to have American B-1 bombers and aerial tankers temporarily stationed in the Northern Territory.

"We're in the process of talking about rotational forces, bombers and tankers out of Australia (Tindal and Darwin) and it gives us the opportunity to train with Australia", she told reporters in Canberra.

"It gives us the opportunity to strengthen the ties we already have with the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) and it gives the opportunity to train our pilots to understand the theatre and how important it is to strengthen our ties with our great allies, the RAAF."

While acknowledging the risk of a "miscalculation" as a result of China's rapid military build up in the South China Sea, General Robinson insisted the United States would continue to fly above and sail through the disputed waterway.

General Robinson is the latest US official to publicly call on Australia to conduct Freedom of Navigation Operations in the South China Sea.

"We would encourage anybody in the region and around the world to fly and sail in international air space in accordance with international rules and norms" she said.

"We would encourage all nations in the region to do just that, just as the United States is doing" General Robinson added.

but can we still get our xmas toys made in china?...

Philosopher Sartre on China and Western fascist cultural propaganda:

“As a child, I was a victim of the picturesque: everything had been done to make the Chinese intimidating. I was told about rotten eggs… of men sawn between two planks of wood, of piping and discordant music… [The Chinese] were tiny and terrible, slipping between your fingers, attacked from behind, burst out suddenly in a ridiculous din… There was also the Chinese soul, which I was simply told was inscrutable. ‘Orientals, you see…’ The Negroes did not worry me; I had been taught that they were good dogs. With them, we were still among mammals. But the Asians frightened me…”

So, the United States wants to step-up the presence of US long-range strike bombers in Australia to counter China’s alleged “militarisation” of the South China Sea (“United States talking to Turnbull government about stepping up presence of B-1 Bomber war planes in Australia”, Canberra Times, March 9th).

Of course, with the world’s most powerful military capability, “militarisation” is something that the United States knows plenty about: just ask any of the 156 countries that “host” its’ more than 1000 military bases; which seems to contrast rather oddly with those evil Chinese, who have none.

Given its’ propensity to see any perceived threat to its global hegemony as a nail to be hit with its military hammer, it is hardly surprising that the United States is viewed as the world’s biggest & most damgerous bully, & even less surprising that Australia’s fawning encouragement of its behaviour makes it such a “special friend”.

no comment apart from "no comment"......

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull says Australia's close security relationship with the United States is "no secret" but he has refused to be drawn on whether US bombers will be rotated through the Northern Territory.

Key points:
  • Commander of US Pacific Air Forces reveals discussions to have bombers stationed in NT
  • Turnbull dodges direct questions about having the bombers in Australia
  • Having B-1s would be an incremental but significant step, Lowy Institute says

The US wants to regularly rotate the long-range B1 heavy bombers through Australia, as concerns grow over China's military expansion in the Asia-Pacific region.

Today Mr Turnbull dodged direct questions about the likelihood of that happening.

"We have no closer relationship, obviously, than we do with the US," Mr Turnbull said.

"I'm not going to comment on a particular element of that but I can just assure you that everything we do in this area is very carefully determined to ensure that our respective military forces work together as closely as possible in our mutual national interests."

Mr Turnbull would not comment on how China might respond to an increase in military cooperation.
