an extra 1,200 troops...

Just a week after the British government said there was no need for them, an extra 1,200 troops are being deployed to bolster Olympics security.

The British Cabinet's Olympics committee made the decision to pull the troops from standby three days out from the official start of the London Games.

Culture secretary Jeremy Hunt says the government does not want to "leave anything to chance".

The new deployment will add to the 3,500 UK military personnel already drafted after security contractor G4S admitted it could not deliver thousands of guards.

"boris hates sebastian coe"...

In the two-minute clip Johnson apparently explains how the "Games began with piles of whitened bones and horses heads, and the skulls of men nailed to trees and a packet of chocolate digestives with bells on".

He later appears to describe Sebastian Coe as "one of the biggest thugs and creeps in world history". And the sponsors aren't spared either. With a tip of the cap to McDonald's footage of Johnson is edited so that the Games were a way of telling the world: "Look, get some some burgers or else you get eaten by bears."

have you ever seen an anorexic seal?...

Coca-Cola, McDonald’s and Cadbury’s are being given an “unrivalled platform” to promote unhealthy brands and products at the Olympics, says a new study.

The firms are “obesity-offsetting” – funding sports equipment and exercise schemes - in return for being allowed to promote calorie-dense foods, according to the report, the Obesity Games.

According to its authors the Children’s Food Campaign, the junk food companies have been given a global platform by London 2012 despite contributing only around 2 per cent of the International Olympic Association’s income.

It added that the policy ill-served taxpayers who are funding the majority of the £1.4bn budget and all the bill for increased costs of obesity on the health service.

Malcolm Clark, campaign co-ordinator, said: “The Olympics have become a celebration of big. For the junk food companies who sponsor the Games that means big restaurants, big audiences, big brand value, big profits. But for children that could also mean bigger waistlines and bigger health problems later in life.

“Yet the one thing about the Olympics which is not big is the proportion of revenue from sponsorship.

In the pool full of bleach, the debate is hotting up amongst holier than thou media blaming other media outlets for making an issue about Liesel Jones body fat... The media fur is being torn apart in a public valued "entertainment" frenzy... If I only raise the issue here is that who cares?... Have you ever seen a seal with no fat under its skin?... Yes I have... and it's a dead one... Meanwhile the important issue of global warming is left to denialist carrions to deal with...

But the junk food proof in obesity is a difficult one to get... Yet common sense seems to tell us that the more energy we absorb and the less we use, the more fatty and more unhealthy we become, statistically...

Mind you I still indulge in a tiny bit of junk drinks from time to time but the taste of "junk" food repulses me... In short one can have a bit of this or that as long as the diet of junk is not exclusive of all other foods and all is done in moderation... But then, the addictions kick in... A lot of "junk" food/drinks are laced with sugars or psuedo-sugars that become "addictive"... One needs to run a marathon, just to get rid of the energy provided in the sugary-bun part of a burger... But one does not run a marathon and one stits on one's bum... One gets fat.
