Tensions are growing between the Labor Party and the Greens, with a growing number of senior ALP figures criticising them for being a protest party.
Just two years after the Greens signed a partnership deal with Prime Minister Julia Gillard, some ALP heavyweights are taking a swipe at the party they rely on to keep them in government.
Members of Labor's Right faction first launched the attack at the weekend and urged the party to preference Greens candidates last at the next election.
Yesterday, Senator Doug Cameron joined in, taking issue with the Greens' approach to key policy areas such as asylum seeker legislation.
"The Greens' intransigence, their lack of flexibility, their complete incapacity to take a mature approach on key issues is the major problem for me, and I don't think that's a good thing for the left of politics," he said.
Senator Cameron says it would be far better if Labor could govern in its own right.
Senator Cameron should realise now that this ain't goin' to happen, even in the next 20 elections till 2050 and beyond... Global warming is going to change the political landscape around the world by 2032 though it has already done so in some countries...
Thus Labor has to deal with the Greens whether Labor likes it or not... This is the new landscape... So, you the Labordoodidledoo talk to the Greens on issues very carefully with as much candour and information as possible rather than reject them outright... But often you come with prejudices in your own boots and also a fear of not grasping complex outright knowledge while you hold the desire to play emotional political games...
The nature of politics is such there is a flux in the purpose and beliefs of people going into politics:
Some Labor are more rite wing that some moderate Liberal politicians, for example... But these moderate Liberal (conservative) politicians have to tow the party line, which is stupid Ultra Rite while being led by the idiot Abbott.... But they are winning at the polls... so there...
Some Labor politicians are as green as the the Greens but they have to tow the party line which is moderate rite wing with a dash of salt and pepper left...
The religious nuts (including the catholics) are somewhat spread evenly in both camps, Liberal (conservatives) and Labor. Even with these beliefs, there are some socialist pollies and some capitalists in both camps. Weird...
The Greens have some genuine concerns about the environment, while it has been show that they can 'compromise" on some issues, including on the formulation of carbon tax... Many of the greens are coming from Labor camp when Labor has been flying too close to developers without paying attention to heritage nor environment.
And between all this flux of simple political positions there are many other variations, such as other local issues, ambitions, egos, beliefs, education, knowledge, the ability to compromise in order to achieve a progressive outcome rather than a thump in the butt, views (especially in the rite wing rank) that they are born to rule, intransigence while smelling victory (often to the detriment of the country but to the benefit of whichever party)... The Green's intransigence is a bit more complex but often due to their feeling isolated and from feeling misunderstood... They are not perfect either and will make idiotic ideological calls that are illogical...
But talk to them in earnest... If you must boost your poll numbers, take from the moderate liberal swingers who are prepared to see value in some policies and not in others... Explain the need for a carbon tax carefully with science and hammer people like the Alan Jones and Andrew Bold as being deceiving idiots... Repeat after me, they are deceiving idiots...
it ain't goin' to happen...
