JULIA Gillard's carbon tax budget bribe has backfired spectacularly, with the majority of voters believing they will be worse off despite thousands of dollars a year in extra handouts and tax cuts.

In a sign the PM's hold on the leadership could again be put to the test, a third of voters said they would be now less likely to vote Labor because of the budget.

Already suffering from record polling lows, the Gillard Government appears to have failed in its bid to woo back low and middle-income families with its $5 billion cost of living handout.

Almost two thirds of all voters believe the Government has not done enough to offset the cost of the carbon tax, despite up to $600 a year in extra cash payments on top of the carbon compensation package and tax cuts, to help struggling families.

the merde-och press is killing social fairness...

The media, including the ABC, mainly following the lead of the Merde-och press, is hell-bent in killing-off the whole concept of social fairness in a global warming world...

Two things, mediatically expressed, here: Social Fairness is for wimps and cheats — and global warming is a Santa Claus fantasy...

Between you, me and a lamppost once more, Julia knows she will be villified as a witch, will be burned at the stakes by the Merde-och flames — no matter what she does — (the voters, like sheep, also follow the lead of the media) but in ten to twenty years, Julia Gillard will be hailed as a great visionary...

Of course the merde-och press is still turning the knife into her flank with the Rudd affair — an event that HAS BEEN SETTLED ONCE AND FOR ALL, a few months ago. But, like dogs digging old bones in your backyard just for nuisance, the Merde-ochs cannot leave the dead alone... It messes up your garden, kills the petunias and bites the face of your neighbour...

I know how these polls are conducted and designed to influence the outcome... Now, should you be one of the people who "take the bribe", no matter whom you vote for, YOU ARE CORRUPT and so are the media and Tony Abbott...

Unless you see Julia's offer as genuine — which it is. So what are you complaining about?

good god...

Seriously? Is anyone in the press gallery going to hold Abbott’s feet to the fire at all about his hideous little speech tonight? Uhlmann had Peter Reith instead – and without any questions about why Abbott was too gutless to be interviewed as Swan had been – but even then none of the rubbish was called out.

Rubbish like

  • Contrasting the GFC deficits with the pre-GFC boom as if there wasn’t a GFC – surely someone could ask Abbott if he even noticed the existence of a global financial crisis or if he’s a weirdo conspiracy theorist who thinks the rest of the world just made it up.
  • The “cuts to defence” line, which are mainly to do with delaying the disastrous Joint Strike Fighter that’s running late and is a step backward anyway. Could someone ask Abbott whether he’d insist on going ahead with it right now while other buyers are backing away?
  • The “we’ll find savings” line – could someone ask Abbott just why any Australians should believe that he’ll find $70 billion savings in a way that none of us will mind? And why he thinks we shouldn’t all be very worried that something we or a family member or friend rely on might not be one of the things he slashes in order to give “incentives” to big polluting companies?
  • How about his “trickle down” theory, where you don’t need any actual plan for growth other than slashing taxes for big business (except when Labor proposes them) and the super rich?
  • You could question his complaints about not enough money going into the NDIS and dental care given that the Liberals haven’t promised to put in any more either.
  • How about asking him to reconcile his demand for “growth” with his previous fixation on interest rates being low? Is that suddenly not important now that interest rates are lower under Labor than they ever were under the Coalition?

Good god, people, as a result of your previous efforts this man could be PM next year. And you’re making sure the Australian people have no idea what they’re in for until it’s too late.

Please, do your jobs. No politician – let alone a potential PM – should be able to get away with so little scrutiny of such outrageously dubious claims.

One of the things that Tony would slash is the NBN... Another one would be the "carbon tax" — a necessary starting insurance package against the global warming problem we face in the future and then Tony would dip his dirty hands in workers' pockets... and, as Hockey as paved the path for, Tony would slash all welfare entitlements... Basically Tony Abbott would make YOUR life very uncomfortable... for nothing more than him being an idiot and a friend of the rich end of town.
