One of the biggest problems with whistle-blowers in the secret services is the "act"... They can, to a very small extent, criticize the problems with the services but rarely can they expose when there has been a con, a mistake, an accident. They are not at liberty to reveal details or names of something even if it is a full-blown porkie-driven information. Consider Andrew Wilkie. He knew most of the stuff in the intelligence dossiers of the US, UK and Australia were mostly suspect to say the least, total crap at best. There would have been at least 50,000 or more people in the whole world who had to know that. But these people are part of the well oiled machine in which porkie manufacturing is a day-to-day "occcurence". Of these may be 1,000 had to be top analysts and these top people had to know all the rules of "intelligence" were being broken for political expediency. But they are master-dependent: what the master asks, you provide. Someone like David Kelly was on the margins and knew the UK WMD dossiers were a lot of crock. His own work was to convince Saddam's scientists to open the door to inspections to avoid war... Then he could see the massive discrepancies between his personal knowledge, his negotiations, his own reports and what was made of them... He spilled the bean to a journalist who was in too much of a hurry to tell the world and did not find another source before going public with the information.... This would have created much angst to David Kelly who then had to tell another reporter the reverse information in order to cover himself... That was too clumsy and eventually he was exposed. As more enquiries were coming his way, David Kelly had to be eliminated... The porkies had to be protected at any costs. "Suicide" was the only plausible option for all... That is the state "had to get rid of him" or the whole pack of porkies were going to collapse BEFORE the war... In the end the BBC paid for the porkies of the Blair government In all cases , the Secret Services Act stops anyone from revealing anything and we're very lucky someone like Andrew Wilkie spilled a few of the beans... Sources, names, aliases and other bits of proper information cannot be divulged... Thus for example all the porki-ists employed by Ahmed Chalabi under the umbrella of the CIA cannot be traced anywhere... If I was a journalist worth my salt I'd move mountains to find where these con-artists are hiding, possibly under witness protection programs with armed guards who shoot on sight if these liars can be useful for something else, but cheaper still they may have been suicided as well if they have passed their used by date... I know from german sources that the French secret services leaked "sensitive information" in mid 2002, re the crap being deliberately served in the English world, Doing so was to back up the French government position of no war in the upcoming diplomacy... In the long run, The US, Australia and the UK, ALL knew Saddam did not have WMDs way before the war. The Europeans knew that too and were a bit miffed by the insistance of the US to try to go to war anyway... So Lance Collins had to be left hanging there on a piddly job.... until he resigned or make some revelations that put him in prison for 30 years especially if he told the whole detailed truth.
