From the SMH... Prime Minister John Howard's senior adviser on international affairs Paul O'Sullivan has been appointed head of Australia's spy agency ASIO. And the man who headed the emergency response team to Baghdad to secure the release of Australian engineer Douglas Wood, Nick Warner, has been promoted to take over from Mr O'Sullivan as a senior adviser to the prime minister. Mr O'Sullivan replaces Dennis Richardson, who is now Australia's ambassador to the United States, as the head of the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation (ASIO). He was a deputy secretary in the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) before taking on the role of senior adviser (international) in Mr Howard's office. Mr O'Sullivan was a former deputy chief of mission in Washington and Australia's ambassador to Germany. Gus is awaiting the appointment of the Mufti to head the emergency response team to Baghdad to secure the release of Australian engineer Douglas Wood
