In this special episode of “Working People,” we talk with three veterans about how the military and the class system (in the U.S. and around the world) go hand in hand.

The vote to determine House Republican Conference Chair Liz Cheney’s fate in leadership is scheduled for Wednesday morning — after months of the No. 3 GOP member being at war with her own party. Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-NC) is slated to initiate the call for the vote to oust the Wyoming lawmaker, who came under fire for her criticisms of former President Donald Trump. The meeting is slated to kick off at 9 a.m., the morning after House lawmakers arrive back to Washington after their two-week recess.

Five European powers have urged the Israeli government to "cease its policy of settlement expansion" across the West Bank as “threatening prospects for a peaceful resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict". The statement came after the Israeli District Committee for Jerusalem published plans to approve over 500 housing units in the territory.

I was originally going to title this article America's Republican Party Thrives on Ignorance, until I recalled the theme of my previous Pravda.Ru article America's Fascist Party: A Warning to the World (02/01/21).

The so-called Northern Triangle of Central America, consisting of Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador, has been long been plagued by social unrest, poverty, violence, and corruption, partially attributable to centuries of US meddling in the region's affairs. The crisis has caused many people from these countries to flee in search of a better life.

"Five years ago, I would’ve said that the possibility of a “kinetic war” in the Indo-Pacific was very unlikely, now it is more likely than it was then. This is something that you and I may well have to confront in the next 5 to 10 years"

In late January, POTUS inked the so-called "Buy American" order, an executive action that Joe Biden said would help "rebuild the backbone of America: manufacturing, unions, and the middle class". In the coming weeks, Brussels may take a countermeasure to press EU member states to "Buy European", in retaliation for Washington's "Buy American" drive, Politico reports.

Regardless of the politicisation by our idiotic leaders or utter denialism by some people, GLOBAL WARMING is happening — FAST. Not only we are burning fossil fuels that create gases that absorb extra heat in the atmosphere, we are experiencing a NATURAL weakening of the earth magnetic system and/or possible polarity change SOON … This would create some extra confusion and uncertainty in our future.

What in America they call the State of the Union, in Australia we call the federal budget. As surprising as it may seem, Australian budgets aren't really about money — they're about values. As a case in point, a key part of next week's Budget will be an announcement about childcare, but the childcare measures won't start until 2022-23.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) - US President Joe Biden will convey to Russian President Vladimir Putin during their upcoming meeting that the United States is not seeking to escalate the situation and seeks more stable and predictable relations with Russia, Secretary of State Antony Blinken said on Monday.

Australian politics returned to white noise this week. It started happening after Parliament rose before Easter, but we are now in a zone where the public are mostly tuning out – unless there’s an attention snapping event. The intensity of the first two months of political action – dominated by exposés of appalling behaviour, allegations of more and brain-dead responses from the Prime Minister and many of his colleagues – turned voters off. After a year of rallying around the flag, willing governments to get things done and battle a health and economic emergency in intelligent unity, disappointment and frustration were back in vogue.

In the early days of the Hawke Government, when Labor and a dynamic young treasurer, Paul Keating, kept confounding a hostile and suspicious business community with market-friendly policies, the cartoonist Patrick Cook would draw the then former treasurer John Howard as a battle scarred veteran.
