Prime Minister Tony Abbott has reassured Australians that everything possible is being done to protect them, a day after the terror alert was raised to high for the first time.

The decision to increase the alert level on Friday followed a spike in "chatter" detected in a sixfold increase in counter-terrorism operations during the past year.

Mr Abbott on Saturday repeated his assurance that the upgraded alert level did not mean a terror attack was imminent.

But it was designed to raise community awareness about the increased likelihood of a terrorist attack in Australia, with people urged to contact the authorities if they noticed anything suspicious.

The ABC religious and ethics unit carries on, once more, looking at god's navel... Here I don't know what to make of a philosopher who does not appear to believe in god but could be, as she throws us back into the jaws of legendary history, the "Book of Job". It's been a long time since I looked at this book of legends...

On the same day (9 September 2014) as a Newspoll result shows that Labor still leads the libs (CONservatives) 52 to 48, (even mentioned by Andrew Bolt who is surprised that labor is not more ahead than this) there is poster advertising for the Australian using another Newspoll result that states: "majority back role in Iraq"... Gus was there on the lookout to turn this garbage on its head, using mischief...

Of course in any polls — especially one like this one on Iraq — one needs to know what was (were) the question(s) and how is a "role" defined. Where does "role" sits in between sending a bunch of flowers and an all out war with foot soldiers, yet again?.

He assured me with 99.9998 per cent of probability that since the discovery of the Higss boson, the end of the world is nigh — especially for the Super Symmetry and String theories... But who knows... The big question is why is the universe sooooo big when we're sooooo small?...

Annabel gives us a piss-weak condemnation of Tony (in italics)... Here is a short version (with Gus annotations in brackets):

And in the past year, we have established many things about Tony Abbott, Prime Minister. Some of them are surprising. Some are not. First, the unsurprising things:

There has been many spats between Tim Flannery and Andrew Bolt... One problem is that Bolt is a professional spruiker with a clever questioning tongue, while Tim is a scientist trying to be over-popularly alarmist on what he knows is a major problem for years to come.

Many people tick-a-box and the first one will do.

In fact David Leyonhjelm is in favour of guns for all to solve crime in the streets and of GM vegies to solve the crimes from bugs and weeds on the farms.

from amateur liars to fully fledged porkyists

eyebrows rule

One cannot start getting soft in the brains and start making allowances for Tony Abbott being a liar. At present the MMMM (mediocre mass media de mierda) is touting our globe trotter PM as a diplomatic super-hero while all he is, is a crummy door-to-door second-hand vacuum salesman, with the gab to match that of a foot in the door.

On a serious note, super strong vacuum cleaners are being made illegal in Europe for good reasons... I have an 850 watts vacuum cleaner made in Australia and the little blither sucks far better than Chinese made 2400 watts machines. The secret is in the configuration of the fan blades and the lower revving engine.
