Kamala Harris may well win the White House
Biden’s VP is a candidate with power, for which Donald Trump was not prepared – and that speaks volumes about his own popularity

Within just a month of becoming the Democratic Party nominee for president, Kamala Harris has forged ahead in the race for the American presidency.

How has this remarkable transformation of American politics come about?

BY Graham Hryce

The answer lies in the departure of the senile and unelectable Joe Biden; Harris’ unexpected effectiveness and dynamism as a campaigner that has re-energized the Democratic Party; and the apparent (post assassination attempt) tiredness, negativity, and ineptitude that now characterizes Donald Trump’s faltering election campaign.

This dream stays with me as we observe more days this week in which the decisions of various leaderships, who seem never to meet each other, kill other people and their children; destroying homes and communities.

Through the UN Secretary General there is to be a UN Summit of the Future in late September.

It is a precious opportunity, as others like Alison Brionowski have conveyed.

US President Joe Biden has accused his predecessor, Donald Trump, of being unfit for the role of commander-in-chief, claiming he ‘bows down to dictators’.

The outgoing president spoke at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago on Monday to urge voters to support the candidacy of Vice President Kamala Harris in the November election. Last month, he was pressured by party heavyweights to drop out of the race after a disastrous debate against Trump.

Biden brought up the story about Trump allegedly calling World War I soldiers buried in Europe “suckers and losers” to attack the former president, saying someone like this cannot lead the US military.

brilliantly planning to negotiate cynicism with plastic duckies....

In a significant reversal, the Biden administration announced during two closed-door meetings this week that U.S. negotiators will support limits on plastic production as part of the United Nations’ global plastics treaty.

The news was first reported by Reuters and confirmed to Grist on Thursday by the State Department. It represents a major shift for the United States, which had previously rejected production limits in favor of an approach focused on boosting the recycling rate and cleaning up plastic litter.

Author Stephen King has a new viral tweet featuring a picture of himself wearing a Kamala Harris t-shirt modeled after an Obama campaign sticker captioned with the words “I’M SPEAKING” — a phrase with which she drew headlines and severe public outcry last week by using it to shut down anti-genocide protesters at a campaign rally in Detroit.

That’s right: they’re using her condescending shutdown of pro-Palestine demonstrators as a fun girlboss campaign slogan now.

new conditions apply.....

The revelation that the US and UK have imposed additional conditions for their being part of the tripartite AUKUS deal with Australia has not gone down well in some quarters.

While both major Australian political parties have kept mum, the Greens have spoken up, pointing out that these conditions lower Australia below the level of a vassal state.

Under the new conditions, Australia will have to bear the cost for any losses or injuries caused by the transfer of technology from the UK and the US to fulfil the terms of the AUKUS arrangement.

U.S. Banks Break Climate Promises by Propping Up Big Meat
To uphold commitments to reducing climate emissions, U.S. banks should stop providing financial support to companies focused on industrial livestock production.

As concerns over the climate crisis grow, banks in the United States have faced increased pressure from shareholders, policymakers, and civil society to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions linked to their loans and financial services. Many big banks have pledged to reduce their investment in high-emitting sectors to help reach net-zero goals.

PLANET OF LIFE….

A corner somewhere in a universe without limits

A bright sun forms like a little star

Surrounded by balls of fire and funny gas orbits

Some congeal cold and some like tar

Jehovah thundering out of Sion, throned

Mars, some moons and planets soon solids

While others are full of gases and methanes

One lucky ball collects water and carbon rains

Amino-acids random link and form protein chains

And with their darkness durst affront his lights

Starting to fight for sunshine and other supplies

Duplicating to breed more of the kinder prizes

With the more aggressive winning the fights

Now allied with others of same to become complex

Their children's cries unheard that pass through fire

Into variegated species demanding to consume sex

With proteins of life moving towards a differentiation
