I write this brief letter and appeal on this fifty-second day of conflict between the Israeli government and the hapless population in Gaza. I also write as a child of Holocaust and concentration camp survivors.

The Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin has apparently revealed the true goal of his country’s enduring support for Ukraine and it has nothing to do with defending “democracy” or even battling Russia, but boils down to the modernization of the US military-industrial complex, ex-Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has said.

Medvedev, who currently serves as the deputy chairman of the country’s National Security Council, took to social media platform X on Sunday, commenting on a speech made by Austin at the Reagan National Defense Forum in the US.

“We’ve launched what the Army calls ‘the most ambitious modernization effort in nearly 40 years’ for our defense industrial base,” the Pentagon boss said during the event.

Freedom of speech in America and most European nations has fully receded into a mythological concept. The American constitutional right is no longer valid.

Take it from someone whose entire YouTube channel has been demonetized and suppressed. My name on Facebook and Instagram is a synonym (at least from Meta’s point of view) of the words “election interference.” Any positive press about me is suppressed, and accounts that support me get punished. X, formerly Twitter, deboosts and shadow-bans me. I am not alone but one of the thousands, maybe millions, of voices the powers that be want to be silenced. We don’t follow the narrative that supports the military-industrial complex of the West.

Dwindling public attention to the Ukraine conflict will be “fatal,”German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock has said, in the run-up to a key NATO meeting in Brussels on Wednesday.

The first meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council on the level of foreign ministers took place amid a “stalemate” on the frontline, as described by the top Ukrainian general, Valery Zaluzhny, earlier this month. Dmitry Kuleba, Kiev’s top diplomat, rejected the assessment ahead of the meeting.

Western fatigue with Ukraine and its problems topped the agenda during the session, but according to German news program Tagesschau, the ministers offered no concrete solutions.

“The view of Ukraine is currently disappearing from the public – that is fatal,” Baerbock warned, as quoted by the German Foreign Ministry on social media.
