help isn't coming...

help...help...

NSW Treasurer Matt Kean hit out at Prime Minister Scott Morrison and Mr Frydenberg over the weekend for not “stepping up” and contributing to a new billion-dollar program aimed at helping smaller enterprises facing a significant drop in turnover in January.

“I’m very disappointed, I was hoping to make this announcement standing next to the Prime Minister today and the Treasurer [Josh] Frydenberg,” Mr Kean said.

However, Mr Frydenberg told the ABC on Monday morning that South Australia had successfully delivered a small business support package over the past week without coming to the federal government for assistance and NSW could not ask the federal government to jointly fund every program.

“They [South Australia] just did it themselves and we welcome their announcement and we also welcome New South Wales investing in their own particular economic response, but the Commonwealth has done the bulk of the heavy lifting when it comes to the economic support packages,” Mr Frydenberg said.

The South Australian business support package is worth $50 million and includes a range of supports including grants for those who have received a drop in turnover of 50 per cent or more in January.
