on being engaged with our kevin .....

Prime Minister Kevin Rudd today presented Australia’s inaugural National Security Statement (NSS) to Federal Parliament, outlining initiatives to improve national security policy advice, coordination and governance.

The NSS is a key part of the Government’s reform agenda to build a more secure Australia, and addresses some of the emerging challenges Australia may face in the 21st Century.

The NSS will become a regular statement to the parliament on the state of Australia’s national security and the new and emerging challenges we face.

Today’s NSS includes the announcement that the Government will appoint a National Security Adviser, Mr Duncan Lewis AO, to provide a new level of leadership, direction and coordination to our national security agencies.

According to our Kevin ……

The Government believes it is essential to engage with the Australian people on the threats we face and the role the wider community can play in responding to those threats.

If anyone who reads this paternalistic piece of pap from our Kevin is able to find any evidence of “engagement with the Australian people on the threats we face”, perhaps they’d be good enough to let me know?

At this particular point in proceedings, it would seem to me that the greatest threat to the security of our community is a Prime Minister who lies & an Attorney-General who refuses to remove the corrupt & incompetent Commissioner of the Federal Police.

After promising an open public inquiry into the Haneef scandal, Rudd & McClelland gave us a secret inquiry, devoid of the necessary authority & power to get at the truth & even then, after the much vaunted Clarke report has been delivered to the government, it remains under a blanket pending the long distraction of the X-Mas/New Year holidays.

The entire universe acknowledges that Haneef was deliberately persecuted by Keelty’s crooked band of politically compromised plodsters, even after it was proven indisputably that the man had absolutely no connection to terrorists or terrorism.

To demonstrate what a brave & courageous defender of freedom & democracy Keelty is – he lacks the personal character & integrity to even acknowledge his mistakes, let alone express regret or offer an apology to Haneef.

Keelty is a monumental embarrassment to every Australian & if the future security of our nation is even partly dependent on his expertise, we are all in desperate danger.
