NSW Roads Minister Eric Roozendaal says Sydney's Lane Cove tunnel will remain open regardless of the financial status of its operator. 

Credit ratings agency Moody's has issued a warning that the tollway operator Connector Motorways could face a debt crisis by the end of 2009, because it is attracting insufficient traffic. 

Mr Roozendaal said any financial issues would not affect day-to-day operations of the tunnel. 

He also ruled out any compensation to the company. 

"The builders of the Lane Cove tunnel made their own projections of what the usage would be ... that's the risk they accepted when they tendered for the project," Mr Roozendaal told reporters in Sydney.
