Zelensky and Macron planning ‘peace summit’ without Russia – WSJ

The gathering is aimed at bringing non-Western nations on board with Kiev’s peace plan, which Moscow has rejected

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky and his Western European backers are organizing a summit to build support for Kiev’s peace plan, the Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday. The plan has been deemed unacceptable by Russia, while the document has been met with indifference by non-Western leaders.

What other statesman can claim his accomplishments? \No other leader in a hundred years has been so successful— turning around a country mired in war, chaos and corruption in just a few years and building on that progress. 

From a failed state, Russia has progressed to being strong enough to challenge the American Empire and Europe in a proxy war in the Ukraine — and a global economic and diplomatic war — and win in both cases. With China, Russia is creating a new, fairer, more just multipolar international order.

After a marathon debate, the House of Representatives on Wednesday morning passed the bill for the referendum for an Indigenous Voice to Parliament to be inserted into the Constitution.

The bill now goes to the Senate where it is assured of passage in June.

The final vote was 121 in favour and 25 against.

Journalist Kit Klarenberg, a UK citizen, was detained by British authorities and grilled on his political reporting and alleged ties with Russia, Grayzone reported on Wednesday.

Klarenberg, who has written for numerous outlets including RT, and is known for his exposes of dark British and US intelligence service secrets, often using leaked or unclassified documents, was reportedly approached by six plain-clothes counter-terror officers immediately after his plane touched down in London’s Luton airport earlier this month. He was traveling from Belgrade, Serbia, where he currently resides.

Before Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Olha Bihar was a lawyer working for a firm in Kyiv while completing her PhD in tax law.

US President Joe Biden is finalizing an executive order to restrict American investment in China’s defense industry, Axios reported on Friday. The move will further ratchet up a campaign that Beijing calls “economic coercion.”

The order will be released later this summer, Axios stated, citing anonymous sources. Rumors of an impending order have circulated in the US media since April, but Axios’ sources said that work on the decree was slowed by Washington’s efforts to convince its G7 allies to issue similar restrictions.

“Clear progress” on this issue was made at the G7 summit in Japan this month, one source said.
