seriously though...

adapt or perish...

Australia needs to adapt to the new circumstances of Trump’s America

...But these are not conventional times in American politics and in how Washington approaches relations with close allies. Turnbull now finds himself among the first foreign leaders on the brusque receiving end of this impulsive, volatile new president. It is as if all the unpredictability and recklessness displayed by Trump during his campaign for office and in his first days in power has now been focused on Australia.

In truth, it should have come as no surprise. Australia should have seen this twitter tirade coming. If Trump has been consistent and coherent on anything over the past year, it has been his pledge to protect America’s borders. And if he has been consistent on anything over the past few decades it is that some US allies have been extracting too much from Washington for so little in return.

a bully...

Lest there have been any remaining doubt, Donald Trump has confirmed a bully now resides in the White House. The question for Malcolm Turnbull, and for all world leaders, is how do you deal with the bully-in-chief?

Someone made the remark that all we needed now in Australia was someone like Trump to lead the country... I am of the sound mind that we already had this person in the loonie character of a certain Tony Abbott...There again, Tony Abbott would not have been "electable" had not Mr Murdoch put wages on him, like he did with Tromp the Trump.

the world adapts to trump...

Two weeks ago in the Rose Garden, President Trump declared that under his leadership, foreign leaders won’t be “laughing at us anymore.”

Since then, he’s been the butt of jokes in capitals around the world.

In Mexico, former president Vicente Fox posted a profane video on YouTube, mocking Trump’s taste for taco bowls (“they’re not even Mexican!”) and border walls (“Mexico will not pay”) that has been viewed nearly half a million times.

In France, new President Emmanuel Macron unveiled a website titled “Make Our Planet Great Again” and invited U.S. scientists to move there, a week after Trump withdrew the United States from the Paris climate accord.

And in Australia, Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull, who sparred with Trump in a testy phone call in February, this week treated a black-tie gala to a snarky impersonation of “The Donald,” referring to the Russia investigation and employing the president’s famous catchphrases.
