the rodent wheel .....

our little prime hypocrite was at it again yesterday ….

Answering a question about the horrendous terrorist attack in Mumbai, the deputy opportunist once again took full advantage of a supine media to spruik his favourite lines on the dread of terrorism, giving his fear meme a good kick along in the process.

PRIME MINISTER:

Ladies and gentlemen, can I just start by repeating the sense of horror that I felt when I learned the news of the terrorist attack in India. I send my sympathy, and that of the Australian people, to our friends in India. It's a reminder that no country anywhere in the world is immune from the possibility of a terrorist attack. It doesn't matter what the foreign policy of the country is, it doesn't matter whether it's a democracy, or what form of democracy it might be, all countries are subject to terrorist attacks.

But this is a particularly callous and brutal and insensitive and cruel attack, people going home from work; a planned, premeditated, terrible terrorist attack and it's once again a reminder that no country can complacently assume that it is immune. And it is a reminder to Australians that it could happen here. We are less prone to these sorts of things than many others but we are not immune.

And the fact that you've had terrorist attacks in countries like Britain, the London Underground, the capture of people who were apparently planning an attack on the New York underground, and of course the arrested people, I repeat suspected, of planning a terrorist attack in Australia at the end of last year. All of this is a reminder that we do live sadly in a different world and it is a world that behoves all of us to be more vigilant and careful, to invest more in our security services, to change our laws and maintain those changed laws under constant surveillance to make sure that they are adequate to the new reality. This is a new kind of war, we're dealing with an invisible enemy, it's borderless, it's not like the old, the wars of old where armies roll across borders and you knew where they were coming from, it's an entirely different threat and it's a threat that confronts the entire free world.

you’ve got to give the rodent credit …..

When it comes to distorting history & justifying his own war crimes, our prime rodent is the equal of “aussie tony” & junior bushit.

Whilst no-one can defend the atrocity in India, how is it that such an event can grab world headlines & warrant a 300 word sermon from the prime meanster, whilst he utters not a single word about the atrocities being perpetrated in Iraq, Afghanistan, Lebanon & the Gaza – atrocities being committed by the US & its proxies, including Great Britain, Israel & Australia.

And what is the great leader’s solution to the dreaded scourge of terrorism? Yep, you guessed it, the same Orwellian promise uttered by Blair & Bush: more & more secret surveillance to identify “suspects”, who wind-up being tried in secret courts & more often than not, convicted of thought offences, on circumstantial evidence.

Not a word about the root causes of such acts: not a sound about the two hundred thousand + Iraqis who’ve lost their lives as a result of an illegal war of aggression mounted by the “coalition of the willing”, including Australia.

Not a murmur from the little pipsqueak about the disaster that is Afghanistan: once again under the control of the drug lords, whilst Osama bin Laden, the alleged overlord of terrorism, still walks free.

And not a word of criticism of Israel as it continues its relentless persecution of the Palestinians & other Arab populations who might dare to resist its illegal ambitions.

Whilst it remains to be seen as to whether John Howard winds-up being Australia’s longest-serving prime minister, there can be no doubt that he is already the greatest hypocrite to hold that office & he can thank us for that.
